looks like they found Miss Daisy's old Hudson.
In 52 Hudson cut off two cylinders from this old Splasher Eight and added an Oil Pump and Insert Bearings produced the 202 Jet Motor for the New 53 Jet.

I was too under the belief that the 202 Hudson engine was an offshoot of the Hudson splasher 8. But recently the tech advisor for the Hudson-Essex-Terraplane Club, Geoff Clark from New Zealand, indicated that Hudson's little six cylinder was a new engine from the ground up and had little or none to do with the splasher 8.
Mercury does look like a Hudson a little bit in 2 door coupe and a convertible for 1949-1951 models.
Tremendously good-looking! Or is it chopped?

No, doesn't look chopped. They were known for their low bodies. "Step-Down" body as they were called, as passengers would literally step-down from sill to floor when getting in.
How much?
