Yeah buddy =) Congratulations you’ve got it!!

I still have Dad's 49 Commodore four door sedan. Last tagged in 1963 when the input spline for the transmission twisted the end off. Three speed manual with electric overdrive. The overdrive switch is under the gas pedal. When Dad bought it, the clock didn't work. I was standing on the seat next to him when he had to brake hard and my forehead broke the clock glass (yes, it's real glass.) The clock started working again. Dad replaced the glass and that was that, other than the boo boo on my head that earned me a bandaid. Dad bought Mom a 55 Chevy Bel Air four door sedan because the Hudson's size intimidated her and the Chevy had an automatic transmission. The Hudson was unbeatable for highway cruising. It would rock us kids to sleep on road trips. I have always intended to fix that transmission input shaft and put her back on the road. I found a transmission in an Arkansas wrecking yard that was leaning up against a tree and bought if for ten dollars. It's in the trunk waiting to donate the input shaft (along with 2 cans of Hudsonite clutch fluid.) Maybe someday if I don't die first. I'm 71 now.

I have owning a '48 Commodore Coupè in Milan, Italy, since 1985.

That big knob by the dome light is for the antenna, to turn it down or up. I was raised with Hudsons. The club coupe has a lot less back seat room than a 4 door. And it is NOT wood. it is a plastic type of luminant. And it was designed the whole car to be very safe. Well ahead of other car manufactures.

a girl i was in grammer school with in the 1950s used to arrive in a big black and chrome hudson. i looked forward to seeing that car every morning. another girl would arrive in a studebaker hawk, also black and chrome. beautiful cars!

The comparison episode that I really want to do more than anything is a 1958 AMC rambler rebel versus 1957 Studebaker golden hawk those were both claim to be the fastest cars of 1957 I would love more than anything to have a drag race with them but they’re both really rare cars in general generally you won’t be able to do that but that’s like my Hail Mary review of the 50s that I would really like to do one day.. just putting it out there in the world maybe I’ll happen next year who knows

@@What.its.like. That 57 Rebel was second only to the 57 Fuelie Vette. It would beat everything else on the road. Everything.

I remember my great grandpa telling me a story where a guy in his high-school class had a 1948 Hudson and one day during the lunch period some 16 students crammed into the Hudson and drove about an hour to the city to buy tuxes for prom.

What a great story thank you so much for sharing that I bet you could fit a lot of people in that car 16 would be a push but if you were able to take the seats out and replace the driver seat with a milk crate or something similar to that it could possibly be possible that car is huge =)

Probably the most memorable car style I remember in 1953; as a 9 year old child. A neighbor and co-worker of Dad owned a Hornet. That four door model with the third rear vent window.

I had a 49 Comodore in the mid 70's. Once I replaced every seal on the car, new shocks and connected the front sway bar it was the best riding car I ever owned. The previous owner had painted it first class and the original interior was in excellent condition. miss that one.

Did yours have the six or the eight did you have the aluminum cylinder upgrade.. I have a friend who had a Hudson hornet 53 I think he said it was four-door he said that’s one of the biggest regrets in his life is selling a car he only paid 300 bucks for it back in the 70s.. it was in a junkyard in Iowa he was stationed in the military out there he had that car and I don’t know if you saw the episode with the 59 rambler wagon he had that as well he kept the Rambler wagon

@@What.its.like. I never had to take the head off the 6. The engine always ran perfectly and I had no reason to get into that. Can't remember how much I paid for it, but I think around $2,000. Again, what a nice ride.

I really wanna drive a Hudson from this time period I don’t care if it’s 1949 or 1953 =) All of these old cars have presence I am feel way more quality than the newer cars that they build now.. all the cars in our cookie cutters they are all very similar and they just feel generic and bland much like a McDonald’s cheeseburger.. lol

Automall has been on my list for a few years and I travel thru PA every summer.... 2023 we will stop by!!

You definitely need to stop there they’re all really nice people very knowledgeable the best thing is it’s like a museum where everything is for sale it’s kind of sort of similar to imperial Palace was back in the day but instead of it being at a hotel it’s in a shopping mall.. I was there for six hours I had a list of cars in my head that I wanted to do but it’s so big and it’s so massive that I just did the cars that I could find I didn’t get to see everything I thought the Hudson towards the end of the day that was one of the cars that I went there for and it took me a little while to find it =)

Wow! Thanks for posting. A beautiful old Hudson. I've ridden thousands of miles in one of those, in our grade school car pool. From kindergarten thru 6th grade, rode all school year long with a neighbor that owned a Hudson, I think a '51 or '52, four door. She'd take all us kids to school and back each day, about an hour long trip, about 7 of us neighborhood youngsters. Oh, I remember well the 'step down' design. We all called it 'The CLIFF CAR', and joked with each other about if we had our parachutes ready to go before we opened the door to get in. It was light grey, with grey mohair interior. Oh, and that heater I remember well, it was nice if you were one of the lucky ones to sit 'shotgun'. But pity the poor kids who were relegated to ride in the back seat. We FROZE OUR BUNS OFF, I tell ya!!!!! And of course, in the winter time, all the windows were totally fogged over. Mrs. Kessler (the owner/driver) spent a good deal of time constantly wiping her side of the windshield with a hankey to see the road. To us kids, it was like riding in a great big fricken TANK, albeit a very comfortable tank, indeed!!!! I remember well, on each Monday morning when she would pick us up, we paid her fifty cents to cover the week's gasoline expense. Great times!!!!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to share all of those amazing stories what great memories =) I should’ve added that car was so wide that four people could probably sit in the front seat and four people could probably sit in the backseat if they were small enough but three full-size 2022 adults can sit in that thing comfortably because I can’t I couldn’t touch the other side as I wasn’t close to the left door there was at least 5 inches I could have moved over =) Ready for Christmas Santa Clause??

Thank you so much for watching that was an incredible car it sucks that there are very few and far between the crazy thing about this car was the eight cylinder engine option only making 8 hp more than a six cylinder if my memory serves correct I have a friend who had a 53 but it was a hornet and he told me that they still offered the straight eight but you could get the six cylinder with a high compression head and it make more horsepower than the eight cylinder.. Which is absolutely crazy to me

@@What.its.like. Jay Leno's Garage on KZread featured a couple of different Hudson cars that he owned and he made a similar comment to yours concerning the six cylinder, being surprisingly smooth and better than V-8s of the competition.

I watch Leno on the regular since around 2005 are used to watch a show before you put it on KZread =) I’m still waiting for the 48 Packard Clipper episode that he said he was going to do pretty soon that was 10 years ago lol

@@What.its.like. The 8 was of an older early 1930’s babbitt bearing design whereas the 6 was a more contemporary engine, therefore the 6 was actually the better engine.

A friend had a '48 Super 6 sedan. Thing sat for 20 years next to a barn. My buddy trailered it to the shop, looked it over, changed fluids, etc. and fired it right up. Drove GREAT; had the overdrive and had no problem keeping up with cars of the '80s, just like a living room on wheels! My favorite body of those years was the Brougham, I like the longer roofline than the regular 2 door. Beautiful cars!

That is the low end Super 6. Original interior had top notch cloth upholstery, doorpanels, and headliner. Someone put cheap vinyl in that one. We are having a Hudson National Meet .in Branson Missouri , July 10-14 2023, and there will be plenty of original Hudson's there ,so you can get a more accurate presentation on the Hudson.

As a youth my dad had a 56 huson hornet black-and-white continental kit. Automatic road from upper new York to San Francisco car was shipped by boat to Japan and back 3 years later. Than from s.f. to Atlanta than to Omaha. Lot of miles I. The back seat. Thank you uncle Sam air force

Stunning car! My parents had a 1949 Super Six coupe and when I was a little kid, we had a 1951 four door Commodore 8 (straight 8) with Hydramatic... my parent's first car with automatic transmission. My parents thought very highly of Hudsons.. reliable, very comfortable.. Of course there were my favorite cars when I was a kid. Even in the 1960s you would see them on the road.

I’ve waited a year to feature another Hudson I really want to dive in deep with the orphan cars problem is I never knew orphans would be hard to find

After close to five decades, I FINALLY get to see what the Hudson step down design was. In the seventies, there was a weekly comic strip which featured old cars. One of the strips was the '49 Hudson with step down design. But for decades I was clueless to what that was all about because Hudsons, by the 1970s, were non-existent.

Love the independents and orphan cars hoping to hit more Hudson’s this year

I think these are exceptionally beautiful automobiles! The interior is awesome as well! It did look very spacious, in the back window design was really cool! You've referenced the '50 Mercury , I've always thought those were beautiful cars as well, and I thought I caught a glimpse of one they're in the video 🤩

All the cars that were in the beginning are all glimpses of things to come.. The mercury may be coming today who knows =)

Years ago I worked for Jack Clifford at his header co. He collected these things and I never did understand why. But I guess that everybody needs a hobby. I started at the worst job they had there and when I finally left I answered to two people the plant foreman who other than myself was the most laid back guy I've ever been around and Jack. There were some really good people who worked there .They made it fun to go to work. I miss them. 6=8.

At 17 years old I had a Commodore 6 . Backed into a Volvo ... totaled it with only a scratch in my bumper. Great car!.

That’s crazy they were definitely built better back then.. that’s why they are still around now can you imagine seeing like for example there’s a lot of 90s cars that you don’t really see anymore they’re just gone..

I have the 1949 Hudson Commodore 8, in 2 tone blue. Mine looks just like the thumb nail except mine has the spoke hub caps. It's not real wood, it's like a heavy sticker. Kind of like modern car raps. And it rides like your on a cloud. Mine also has the little wing windows in the back seat as well as the front. That plastic water overflow is not original. Mine is glass. And the little hudson badge in the front of the dash lights up when you turn on the head lights. They are amazing cars. I had to buy spark plugs from a tractor supply store. Because they are 6 volt, and short and fat. Just like old tractor spark plugs. My radiator hoses also came from the tractor store. Buying parts for these old Hudsons can be a nightmare. But it's worth it to drive one.

Owned two of these Hudson’s, fine road car at the time, comfortable and reliable.

They were very stylish cars , a neighbour had a lovely original example when I was a kid ... interior was a smart grey corded cloth , looked like velour . That ledge half way down the door was finished in the lighter faux wood grain as in the centre of the instrument panel , with ashtray chromed . It was very different to other cars back then .

Totally agree this cars interior wasn’t what I expected I agree with another person in the comment section said that the interior looks like it’s been redone. It was a very interesting material the whole car was trimmed in that interior material

Hey Jay- That's a nice example! I'm not sure that the color is correct, but the color looks really nice on the car. Also, I'm pretty sure that the interior has been reupholstered in all vinyl... Originally, it would have been a combination of mohair velvet and a woven brocade. The woodgrain you see is painted on the metal... Isn't it incredible how convincing that stuff is? The knob at the peak of the windshield swings the antenna up and down. Those Hudson's are one of the cars that's hard to find anything wrong with, design wise. They were absolutely beautiful.

They referred to that design trend in those days as "bathtub", as in "bathtub Nash, bathtub Mercury, bathtub Packard...."

I have always been a Hudson and Nash fan. My great grandfather was part of a passenger service business. They had 3 Hudsons on the fleet. My grandfather and great uncle learned to drive in the Hudson. This was just after WW1.

As someone over 60 who was one of the younger HUDSON enthusiasts in the 1970s through the early 2000s you did a great job especially considering your age. The "Step Down" Hudsons were extremely comfortably riding and with proper tires handled amazingly well with nonpower assist steering or brakes. I have owned many from the Pacemaker, Wasp, Commodore, Hornet, Super Wasp Cvt.

@@What.its.like. The Hornet coupe is my favorite and I am partial to 1954. All through the 1960s and early 2000s owners would replace their car's original straight 8 or 262 cubic inch inline 6 with the 308 Hornet and it never hurt value. The seemingly endless torque combined with great cornering and a smooth ride made for a great combination.

my father had a 1950 commodore 6 and at 15 years old 1960 I got to drive it a lot. great car. ours had supermatic drive with overdrive.

@@What.its.like. by the time I got to drive it the engine had worn cylinders and low compression. 10 mpg was typical. we would put in number 40 bulk oil when the oil pressure light would flash. the care drove excellent. my father said it was the best car he ever owned.

My mother loved her '53 Hudson Jet. The twisty knob over the rear view mirror laid the antenna to the roof, left or right, instead of telescoping. I know because I played with it, much to Mother's annoyance.

I wish that I would’ve recorded walking through that place it was absolutely incredible and I can’t wait to go back to only down or is it 5 hours down the road from me so that was kind of a long day.. it was 10 hours of driving six hours of shooting with the cars 16 hour day =)

Thank you so much for adding that information I wasn’t sure if it went up or not I’ve heard conflicting information. So I didn’t want to say something that wasn’t true because I was 100% on it

My dad worked on the assembly line at the Hudson main plant (corner of Jefferson & Connors in Detroit) during the summer of 1948 as the '48 models were building out and the '49 models were being launched. He was in his late teens, and later worked for 2 years across the street at the Chrysler Jefferson Ave. Plant. (I also had great uncles at GM Research and Pontiac, and uncles at Ford and Uniroyal, while another uncle sold Fords in LA.)

@@What.its.like. , I don't know that he had a preference, and that was long before I was born. He did once mention the worst job he ever had was reaching into an oven that baked paint to pull the painted bodies out using a hook and send them off to the assembly line. That was at Chrysler. He worked for other companies but the one that defined his career was Williams International (turbine engines), so he had no specific loyalty. Over time he had cars from all of the Big 3. Never an import.

All the cars that were used for B roll are all previews of what’s to come I’ve been messing around with the intro a little bit to try to make it better as well as not saying the same thing over and over and over again it kind of makes every episode new and fresh

I've always admired the Hudson's and Packards. The old Buicks had the antenna like that.

I worked at the Classic Car dealership over the summertime and I was able to drive all of their cars and it was great it was a great experience

When I was a young boy living in a srlit level rental with my parents and older sister in Los Angeles, our downstairs neighbor owned Hudson Hornet. Not the same model, but very similar esthetically. He parked on the lawn near his front door. That's a terrific memory. (The Hudson was green and likely an early 1950s model)

49 Mercury "look how stylish, I am an automotive First". 49 Hudson "um, get out of my way copycat". A beautiful automobile with great styling. There's just something special about the Hudsons from this era. I've always found it slightly ironic that the same thing that made the Hudson cars from that era so special was also one of the things that led to their demise. It was the step down design. It made it very difficult for Hudson to change body styles quickly and easily so therefore they had to stick with similar designs. Also, the lack of a V8 engine hurt them against the competition. Sad, but all good things come to an end.

This car was incredible I was able to film 12 cars while there so there’s a couple sneak peaks in the beginning all of those are coming I think the next episode is going to be the 50 merc that was named dropped in the episode that car was incredible as well actually all of the cars that I got to do and trucks were absolutely incredible.

All the wood look trim is steel with wood graining, probably dinoc decal. The big knob under the dome light rotates the antenna, just like on a Buick.

I’m glad to see you review a Hudson. America had some interesting cars in the past. Sometimes I wish you might dig a little deeper and mention a car companies unusual features, advantages or disadvantages. An advantage is the step down frame, a disadvantage is the straight 8. Straight 8’s had issues because the crankshaft was so long it was subject to torsional issues. The Hudson appears to be well appointed (ignoring the non-original vinyl).

This is going to be the home of the orphan cars.. The problem is two fold though I love orphan cars the issue is the information is spotty at best and apparently from some Hudson organizations this isn’t a Commodore it’s listed for sale as a Commodore but evidently it’s a super six.. which puts me in a bad situation because the seller is selling it as a Commodore but people in the Hudson community are saying it’s a super six and that is the biggest difficulty with doing cars that are off the beaten path is the information isn’t as cut and dry as some of the more main stream cars I absolutely hate giving out false information I do my due diligence and try to pass off it’s factual information as possible.. so I don’t know if I should take this down and redo it as a super six because changing the thumbnail isn’t going to change the whole presentation.. or if I should just leave it because the Commodore in the super six were essentially the same car the Commodore was just more/better appointed

That only was an issue when you tried to soup them up. Stock or lightly souped, they were fine. The big problem with them was their length. They won't fit in a car with a shorter hood unless the firewall is severely indented, but then you often would have to pull the engine just to remove the head.

The flatiron-foot shaped taillights were recognizable for Hudson almost to the end, if you consider the '57's taillights as simplified and flipped variation of this shape.

It was definitely up there that’s for sure it sucks they couldn’t make it another thing is doing a lot of early 50s cars recently you definitely see other people other companies using the same design concept

The knob by the dome light is for the antenna. It had to be put in the down (sideways) position when you garaged the car. Buicks had this also. I got in trouble as a seven year ole, playing in my grandfathers Buick while it was in the garage. I had put the antenna up and it snapped off when the car was backed out of the garage.

Thank you so much for that correction.. did your grandfather give you the belt for that.. I have no idea why they stop doing that I think that’s the best position for the radio antenna to be it’s not obstructing your line of sight it’s on top of the car so people can’t just go over whack it off..

@@What.its.like. no belt. Neither my parents or grandparents would ever strike a child, being Native American in part. I probably came close the SECOND time it happened! I’m 75 and my childhood was the 50s, and I remember grandpa buying a new Buick every two years. They were big beautiful cars. Not many Hudson’s though as there wasn’t a dealer near by.

Whoa that trunk is massive! Mine is filled with notch to get the back axle to go up when I put the ass in the grass. 😂

I build furniture as a side hustle and I could not tell the difference like it felt like wood I think I’m going to buy a magnet that would help me with determining if it would or not =)

I definitely would NOT mind a four door 1953 Hudson....take a road trip in it and it'd feel like...."what, here already!?" On to the Mercury next after this one!

Yup. That's a beauty.

The wood graining is metal . The original upholstery would have been striped wool cloth with plain cloth trim on doors, etc. Good Job! Hope a vid on the Aero Willys is in the pipeline.

All those cars in the intro are coming Glad you liked this episode thank you so much for the corrections I thought the interior was a little bit out there it’s amazing that they trim the door panels and everything in it somebody definitely put a lot of detail into it but that would’ve been my thought exactly is it was either mohair or wool There’s a lot of nice car good, rare cars coming up =)

Thanks, Nice to see, Well I learnt to Drive in a Commodore Six 1947 Hudson, So I got to say it looks like a Squashed Version of that, with lower body style, good reliable vehicles, even here in Australia, the Hudson was still a daily drive till 1974, when we got a New Ford XB, I still remember the Hudson, because newer Japanese Cars always came off 2nd best when in a Accident, as a example, Hudson, hit a pothole, Hudcap came off, ran across road, Hit Toyota, speared Radiator totaled front, needed to be towed away, we needed Hubcap Repaired ....

Yes, Safer is a myth they were Built, but without Seat-belts that sturdy interior could be a "school of hard knocks" in a accident, I as a Kid was thrown over seat into window & then into upside down position between Dash & Front Seats, in a collision ... But having said that, I may as well tell about the Mini, It Run into the Rear of Hudson in City, it was totaled, we needed bumper bar repaired & Refitted .. Our only issue with the Hudson, probably due to it's Age, was Rear Wheel Axel, Hard to find parts at the time ..

Thanks Jay. I enjoyed the Hudson. Just for your information, the knob below the dome light turns the antenna. In essence it's how you lower the antenna if needed.

The knob above the rear view mirror operates the antenna! It turns the antenna from vertical, to horizontal. Buick had a similar thing.

Hey Jay, many of the earlier Lux cars came with leather, Or perhaps I have the wrong impression? Let's find out. Those body lines would be beautifully complimented by painted lines for emphasis. It actually got picked up by the big 3, "All new step-down design." A night and day difference, though, and something only AWD trucks get away with now.

Don’t forget the antenna turn down knob for low garages

The knob by the dome light controls the angle of the radio antenna. My friend had a 1950 Commodore and my grandfather's 1952 Buick had the same feature. It would help get the radio stations more clearly'

These cars dominated in Nascar. They were certainly ahead of their time. I think the lack of an automatic (for driving ease) may have held them back.

Remember that Hudson was more of a competitor of Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Desoto or Mercury rather than Chevy, Plymouth or Ford.

The top Hudson also competed with the Buick Series 50 Super.

I also remember as a little kid me and my little brother would write up in the back window deck because if we acted up my father would reach around and slap anybody he could reach to make sure he got the right one and we were out of his reach and we would sleep up there going to Pennsylvania that was a neat car he also had a glove compartment on the left-hand side we were not allowed to touch that he kept his chewing gum cigarettes in his gun in that little glove compartment on the driver side I also remember the radio antenna was a knob you turned from above the windshield to turn right antenna off so you could get reception

Age 92: My Dad was an immigrant in 1906. He Loved GM. Good people drove GM. (that was the implication....if an overstatement). Everybody else was unknown. We kids were all car crazy....knew every brand on the road. How about the Hudson Terraplane! I remember the hood ornament lit up. Hudsons were like something from another planet. Maybe because they were out of the price range in our neighborhood. But one neighbor had a 4 door '39 Buick beige and I would just sit in his garage and admire it for hours. Never laid a hand on it. A masterpiece of art deco design. Walking home from school one day (6 miles....normal in those days of no-pickup-kids / both parents working) I came across a Chrysler Airflow It changed my design life. Like it had landed from outer space. The designers and those of Hudson deserve credit for stretching the envewlope...it is courage and great spirit. I haven't owned a modern car that was any fun except for the oreiginal Isuzu Trooper which was just an out-and-out BOX. Ezxcedllent vision :Flat Windshield and rigid seat belt extenders and fun to drive w/ 100 cf load capacity. My Dad's 1936...2 door..blue Chevy is just a masterpiece of engineering and design....a work of art. And where are we troday: A lot of 1) real safety 2) reliability 3) wonderful tires 4) comfort but we seem to have lopst SOUL. p.s. After the 3rd GM Lemon, I finally broke down and bought a Japanese car.

Yeah I wish Hudson could’ve stayed around though. The hornet was a stellar design but as soon as Hudson went with Nash they had Nash designs and then were no more..

Some stuff to note: 1. The dash is 100% metal, painted 2. That button at the dome isn’t a knob to turn it on but a button to turn the antenna in between the windows (to recess down) or up. Buick had the same.

@@What.its.like. I like the story the most. I was owned by Jade Rhodora, an exotic dancer who was married to Wes Hudman, a Hollywood actor known for his roles in cowboy movies. I like that it has the six as it’s relatively frugal with the dino juice. My least favorite part about my Hudson is the NVH but I’m working on that. See, it’s a rough car with a highly patina look but the ride quality now really suffers. I’m fixing some stuff to get that off the list.

Sounds like you have automotive royalty.. I like the patina look it’s not everyone’s thing but I like them sweaty lol

The eight cylinder from this car was rather primitive. It did not even have pressure lubrication. It worked okay because during this period speed limits were very low. But in modern-day driving you have to be very careful not to push the engine too hard.

Awesome information thank you so much for sharing that I wonder when that became a staple across the board I know 235 Chevy in-line six was the first pressurize engine that they offered but it wasn’t until mid 50s. 1953 or 54, I think it was 53 because I think the Corvette offered the first pressurized oil system in line 6 that Chevy built

I love this car Justin. the whole package is beautiful, the top trim level. I wish I could get one for my daily driver. the 4 door luxury sedan 👍 I love the radio Justin, I wonder if it works and if it has tubes ? very classy look.

I wonder how many tubes it has I’m sure it’s a tube type radio. I went there for the Hudson’s they have more Hudsons then I’ve seen all year problem was that place is so huge that I could only find I found two of the three Hudsons and it was to the point in the day that I had to just do the cars that I found there’s lots of Ford’s coming because that’s what I saw.. that place was so big that was almost overwhelming with all of the cool stuff that was there stuff that you don’t see every day or ever I’ve gone to a lot of car shows this year to look for cars to do for this channel and I never saw Hudson I never saw Nash because those are the cars that I really wanna do. =)

That knob at the dome light is to move the antena. However, with the viser on the car,your antena can not be lowered between the center of the main window.

I’ve been looking for a hornet for a whole year this is as close as I could come to one I’m not giving up hope yet probably be next year but that’s awesome that your dad raced hornets and love them so much there was so much the love about them =)

I remember being about 4 years old and my dad carrying me to the car wrapped in blankets along with my siblings in the dark, early morning hours of winter to drive him to work when my mom wanted the car for the day. I also remember going for rides in the convertible on warm summer days in the country and stopping to close the roof for thunderstorms. I still remember how the top latched. Some of my earliest memories involved Hudsons.

@@What.its.like. I almost bought a '53 Hornet when I was in college. It had Twin-H Power (dual carbs, good for 145 horsepower, but I already had a '51 Studebaker Commander Starlight. As I recall, Hudson used a cork-lined clutch that ran in an oil bath, and was the last hold-out for splash-type engine oiling.

In two weeks I’m going to the Hudson national meet which is up in Erie. I’m going to meet some people up there friend of mine built a 54 Hudson hornet he’s from the other side of state and I’m gonna review his car I was just listening to it Run, It sounds incredible especially for a six =)

Neither Stellantis nor anyone else owns the Nash and Hudson names. Trademarks must be renewed every ten years, and it must be proven, at that time, that they are still in use commercially. If they are not in use, they are considered to be abandoned. Actually a trademark can be lost if it is proven that it was not used for three consecutive years, even in between renewal dates. So if the Hudson and Nash names were last used in 1957, they could have been in the public domain since 1960.

My father had a 1948, door it was brown and tan I remember the day he brought that car home I was a little kid then it’s probably about two or three years old when he bought it through that thing up until browned 1957 or 58 my car was his pride and joy it was a long time for he never let my mother drive it

Would that wood knob at the top of the windshield be the rotation control for the antenna? Buick did it that way. The antenna rotates to a down position along the windshield center post.

The "step down" Hudson was "all new" when introduced as a 1948 model. Studebaker and Kaiser also beat out the Big Three in post war designs.

@@What.its.like. Kaiser only made a profit in 1947 and 1948. In 1948, Henry J Kaiser took out a huge loan to increase production, anticipating building 200,000 cars or more with facelifted Kaisers and Frazers. Joe Frazer, an old automotive man rebelled saying the company would lose a boatload of money. Frazer left and the loses here huge. Leftover 1949 bodies were sold as 1950 and even 1951 cars. that was the only reason a 1951 Frazer was even built. Kaiser joined up with Willys and continued building cars in the US till 1954. After that, Jeeps till AMC bought them out. The Kaiser Manhattan went to Argentina where it was built till the early sixties. Maybe 1961. Kaiser had a bad habit of building more cars than the dealers could sell. I once owned an early series 1954 Kaiser "Special." This was one of over 3,000 unsold 1953 Manhattans taken back to the factory and given 1954 front sheet metal, grill, and "Safety Glow" tail lights. They must have lost a lot of money on that one.

I saw that convertibles had a hydraulic regulator for the windows I figured cover that whatever find a convertible model to do I’d like to feature all of the body styles if possible =)

The Hornet is definitely NOT like all the SUV's of today that are cookie cutter look alikes. I think SUV's are the most boring examples of automotive design of the last 120 years. UAAAAAHG!

I know right.. all the new cars all look the same and they’re all very bland.. it’s like everything you know McDonald’s used to be a place for kids and now they turned it into some sort of coffee shop.. it’s sad because the whole world that we lived in 10 15 20 years ago it’s totally different than it is now some things for the better a lot of it’s for the worse

If there had been no CAFE regs, there probably would never have been an SUV boom. People would have stuck with station wagons - the full-size ones.
