My father and I had a 1947 K7 International 6x6 that was a surplus Marine Corp winch truck that we worked erecting gas stations , setting 5000 gallon gas tanks in the ground and just about anything people needed lifted . We had an 18,000 lb winch on the front and a 40,000 lb winch on the rear . We pulled trees over or moved the trees after they were cut and then pulled stumps out of the ground . The truck had 1100 hundred miles on it when my father bought it . It only needed a little bit of work to get it running and driving but the brakes were stuck at first but we finally got the wheels to turn . Then I had to repair or replace everyone of the wheel cylinders , mostly repair the wheel cylinders as we didn't have the money to buy new surplus ones . The hydravac had to be rebuilt and all of the brake lines had to be replaced . We had a Hell of time finally getting all of the brakes bled and working correctly . There's two wheel cylinders per wheel and thats a lot of work to bleed the brakes . Best of luck finding parts for your new 6x6 . Interesting video . Be extra CAREFUL with the split rim wheels , they can be deadly .

That CCKW is a nice truck to restore. I got a winch boom truck that was built by a concrete company to get the mixers out of mud holes, so it is heavy enough to lift most of my toys. Just 2 larger dozers that I wouldn't try lifting with it but there are 2 of them so they can pull each other if 1 ever gets stuck LOL. It has 6 strands of 3/4 cable supporting the boom and the hook line is 7/8 . I use a snatch block also. It will extend to 43 feet verticle, I have used it to lift and move grain bins. I pick up a truck, tractor or grain bin and carry it or just load and unload. I don't pay by the hour so I am working on a tractor off and on that has been hanging from the hook and spreader bars since last fall. Just an idea for your shopping list.

Never pull backwards like that with a diesel pickup, it's so easy to break the pinion in the front diff. The drive side of the gear is vertical & designed to take the load but going backwards the coast side of the gear is angled & loads the pinion sideways. I've replaced a lot of them on diesel pickups that have snapped.
