The Ford line of cars was updated in 1937 with one major change - the introduction of an entry-level 136 CID (2.2 L) V8 in addition to the popular 221 CID (3.6 L) flathead V8. The model was a refresh of its predecessor, the Model 48 (itself based on the Model 40A), and was the company's main product. It was redesigned more thoroughly in 1941. At the start of production, it cost $850. The Ford Line bore several model numbers during this period: For domestic 1937 production in the United States Ford Model Numbers for 85 hp V-8 equipped cars was Model 78 and 60 hp V-8 cars was Model 74. Models 81A and 82A in 1938, and Models 91A and 92A in 1939.
A high flat-topped hood dominated the front look of the 1940 model, as the grille spread out to reach the fenders to differentiate the Deluxe line and the headlights were pushed wider still. The standard Ford inherited the grille of the 1939 model with blackout on each side of a heavy chrome center; heavier headlight surrounds serve as another major differentiator from the 1939. 1940 was the last year of the 1937 design and its smaller V8 engine, with a straight-six engine to be reintroduced the following year. Sealed-beam headlights were one of the few major advances for 1940, while a hydraulic top was new on the convertible.
The 1937-1940 generation of Fords is one of the most popular automobiles for hot rodding. Early stock car racing drivers also used Fords of this generation among other cars. This Ford also formed the basis for a style of dirt track racing car.

That pesky sticky snow too. Looks frozen on there so you can't even sweep it off. Great to use on WW2 armor also. Nice to display for other modelers that do tanks & vehicles that saw snowy weather. Battle of the Bulge stuff & in Korea. Thanks for taking that extra step. Even on aircraft before they put into the sky. The model companies are sending these kits to the right builder. Thanks for the inspiration. That looks real enough to make me shiver.

I built this exact model, in yellow plastic, way back in 1970 or '71. I think it was a Monogram issue but I'm not sure. It wasn't this Coca Cola one but it was an identical kit to this one. Being 13 or 14 when I built it I brush painted it in the old trusty Testor's purple from their infamous little bottle. Finished it in some Flower Power decals from another kit. Fun times...

Excellent job, Chris ! Wet, shallow snow is very common here in Central Virginia winters, so if the snow is sprayed on the model from only one direction, it looks like it was breezy and snowed, & was parked outside my house all night. (I need to scrape off the windshield before I can drive it out on the neighborhood streets to the country store to get my bread, milk, eggs, and Coca Cola !!

I built an amt 1940 coupe back when I was younger. Mine was the George Barris "crusin usa" version with prismatic dekals and dry decals that you apply and rub down. It was a super fast and easy build cause it was molded in black so I didn't paint the body. Judging by your build this one fits together super nice and a super FUN kit to build! I really love the fact that they have and extra stand for it and the wide whitewall tires. Just another fantastical build and I love how you weathered up for when they brine the streets in the midwest..

I can't say enough how much I loved building the 1940 Ford stock sedan from this same mold- everything fell into place like a dream, nothing fought me, and zomg all the extras for the parts box! :) AMT has made things fun and simple, this is a kit that can very easily be done over a day or two and nets beautiful results! Thanks for a fun review- gonna keep my eye out for this one!!!

AMT has been using that chassis for what seems like the beginning of time. All the way back to the 1960s, that chassis has been under the 39 coupe, later Tudor Sedan and Pannelvan. Also, I recently finished building a 1990s era Pannelvan, with the exact same chrome tree, so very little has changed.

The snow looks great! Thanks Round2! Chris, I particularly like the way the engine bay firewall top plate appears to be a faded yellow when compared to the body color directly behind it. Ingenious with the spray snow. I am sure you've seen it, one time in CT, I came outside, and was standing on my porch in utter awe. Besides having to grab the the railing on either side because i was going down, everything was covered in about 1/4", at least, sheet of ice. My car was encased in an ice tomb, crystal clear. I could not even make it to my car, not without spiked ice shoes, lol. I was really late to work that day.

Been itching to get my hands on this one when I first heard it was coming out. Love the fact that it's molded in yellow when most of the time Coca Cola color is usually red. I built the Three Stooges version awhile back and loved it. I put the Buick engine in mine but I would definitely put the Flat Head in this one. Love the fact that they are doing models in Coca Cola. Hopefully they will do lots more. Love the snow effect on your build. I've seen rust, mud, and dents on a model, but never snow. Love it ! Keep up the good work. Happy model building !

I also use baking soda and hair spray. Spray a shot of hair spray from about 12 inches above the kit and then sprinkle baking powder on it and blow off the extra. Works fairly well.

Another great build and video! Thanks for sharing! Quick question...when using the Rustoleom spray cans...how do you keep the spray nozzles clean so they do not affect the next paint job? I tend to get splatters after the first use.
