This is a scarce 1915 Boxing Darkies Toy mounted on one of my early model "Spider Leg" Victor Victrola model X phonographs playing "The 20th Century Rag" from 1914 by Billy Murray. Thanks for stopping in for a visit and I hope that you enjoy the video.

Thanks for sharing this! I had heard of such add-on toys, but only seen them once in an old postal catalogue from America. As a sidenote, on the opposite page were shown two different aftermarket attachments available for 'automatic replay' which sat over the record (similar to these toys) but carried the stylus (and thus the tone arm) back from centre to set it down at the outer edge for another playing.
What a great example of a phonograph toy. Congratulations on this find so well preserved.

How racist! Did they sell a Waltzing Wasp version, too? Still, interesting and good to see how many viewed African-Americans here over a century ago.
This of course is a good example of a racist novelty. I'd like to see other examples not featuring stereotypical poor black people.
