19.11.2021 - VN24 - Tipper truck out of control after tire damage (Part 2)

Ғылым және технология

VN24 - 19.11.2021 - Hamm / Germany - (Part 2 / Recovery truck) A tipper trailer truck loaded with nearly 27 tons of sand got out of control on the A2 highway near Hamm, when the left front tire on the tractor apparently burst. The truck drifted to the left and crashed into a van with a caravan, which was overtaking the truck at that time. Subsequently, the dump truck crashed into the center guardrail, causing the trailer of the truck to break off and overturn. The caravan was completely destroyed. In the case of the caravan, the entire superstructure tore off the floor panel, leaving the chassis standing alone. Fortunately, all vehicle occupants involved were only slightly injured. Cleanup efforts lasted well into the night.
In this part 2 of 2 of the video you can see the recovery of the semi-tipper truck

    Glad to see the loading shovel operator found the right lever to open and close the bucket, had he found it sooner the clean up would have taken half as long. Also why pull the unit back into the railings, when the idea is to keep it clear so a wrecker can tow it away. I'm thinking the operator is inexperienced on that machine, with loots of practice he will learn. I drove this type of machine for many years and I'd have cleaned up that sand without extra help to a point where only a broom would be needed.

    A substantial cleanup operation. The driver of the bucket loader is employed by Horstmann on heavy recovery, and does not normally operate a bucket loader.

  • @mickbaker2483

    @mickbaker2483

    2 жыл бұрын

    No it was not a fifth wheel failure the RTC riped the fifth wheel off the fram and it was at 90°to the fram and it was the impact of hitting the crash barriers the trailer rolling onto it's side and the caravan he hit that did all of that.

    Marx Bros at the circus! The loader operator has no idea. He should be able to pick up most of that sand. Then trying to tow the truck forwards on hard left lock. Get in the thing and turn the wheels straight!! They should have moved the prime mover before standing the trailer up. They towed the truck away with the blown tyre dragging on the ground and the outside l/r with a bloody great hole in it and flat!!

    Wo bitte, war die Zugmaschine den auf dem Abschlepper gesichert? Das war, nur eine hübsche und völlig sinnlose Deko! Mal darauf geachtet, wo da die Gurtschlösser eingehangen wurden? Bild 29:29, spricht Bände, ohne jetzt dabei auf die tolle Gurtführung einzugehen. Den auf dem Unterfahrträger abzuschleppen, ist nach so einem Crash ja schon richtig riskant. Dann aber die Gurte quer und verdreht anzulegen und die Gurtschlösser im Kabinen-Frontblech einzuhängen, ist der reinste Wahnsinn! Und das war ja bei Weitem noch nicht alles! Auch hat mal eben seine Abschleppbrille, einfach liegen lassen 30:21! Echte Profis! Aber ustig, finde ich das überhaupt nicht!

    I've got to agree with l wilton it doesn't look as if some of Horstmann's guy know what there doing witch is very unusual because Horstmann's are usually prity damn professional the loder driver is not competent with a 4 in 1 bucket, and until the European haulage company's buy longer wheel base tractors units with twin steering axles this is going to keep happening and people WILL DIE a front wheel blow out and the driver losses 40 tonne of outfit, I drove a twin steer DAF XF at 44 tonnes max gross and had a blow out's and I still kept control of my truck and by the look of this RTC the company was running remoulded sreer tyers.

  • @ldnwholesale8552

    @ldnwholesale8552

    2 жыл бұрын

    Clearly you have not driven a twin steer. Bloody dangerous things, drive like a supermarket trolley. Some places in Europe is the only places they are used except for special applications. Here in Oz you have to get special permission to even register the things. A blowout front or rear can cause an accident but very uncommon. As for remoulds?? I doubt it, simply the tyre got too hot and seperated. Usually low tyre pressures do that. Slow leaks usually the initial cause. As for Euro trucks with single wheels on the trailer that is more dangerous than the dual wheels used in the rest of the world and has less load capacity as well

    @@ldnwholesale8552 obviously you have not read what I wrote, please reread my comment I was a truck driver for over 40 years, you have 2 totally different driving situations oz has lots dirt roads and hot weather in UK and in Europe every road is blacktop and our weather is more wet and snow in the winter so its totally different to oz pluse your laws are totally different too until you drive a twin steer in tractor trailer outfit in Europe you will never understand the difference as for super singles on the trailer's we don't need to have twins because again the weather and the fact we only run at 40tonne 5 axles in Europe and 44 tonne on 6 axles in the UK as for the tyres its a known fact remoulds more liable to degradation and separation without any warning and 8f you look very closely you will see this in meny of VN24's videos because there reporter gets close up's of the tyres on the truck's, as for twin steer I have had a tyres blow out and at the max speed of 56 mph it is not a problem to pull over and stop safely, and don't forget your laws are very different to anywhere else on earth you even send aboriginals to prison for having booz in there cars and pickup truck's and not even drinking it.
