1859 Carrington-Class Solar Storm Pummeled Earth's Magnetic Field | Video

Ғылым және технология

Computer models of the magnetic field during the 19th century coronal mass ejection (CME) is compared to a moderate 2006 blast. English amateur astronomer Richard Carrington observed the 1859 solar flare that gave birth to a massive CME.

@@GoldSrc_ Some say earth was shrouded in a large humid bubble, that it collapsed into the oceans. And only after that were rainbows seen. The only thing I can think of that could cause that is a colossal hit from a burst of material from the sun. I do like the idea that God and/or aliens/angels can control the cosmos, but maybe some agree with me, I would prefer the reporting of those events were not so vague, as if the writers like head games. Another possibility, considering molten layers inside earth, might be a sudden collapse of one of the tectonic plates downward, resulting in gigantic movements of water, and the possibility that such a calamity might affect the weather resulting in 40 days of rain. Or maybe a massive undersea volcano eruption. No matter what camp we are in, I say we ought not be looking down our noses at each other too much because there are so many unknowns. I think after this life we get to find out what really happened back then, sure hope so.

@@garyha2650 "some say" is not evidence. "some say" they were abducted by aliens, but that is not evidence of anything. It doesn't matter what you "like", the universe doesn't care about your feelings, the sky won't stop being blue just because you like the color green. Tectonic plates do not collapse downwards, so no, that's not a possibility. And once our brain shuts down when we die, we stop existing, so no, there's no way anyone can find out anything without a functioning brain. It doesn't matter how boring things are in reality, appreciate them for what they are, don't reject reality just because fantasy is more interesting to you.
