    @Jonathan Bachman, This is not as much about Martin being weak, as it is Bo being a monster (i.e. any active college wrestler who pulled off a D1 NC isn't weak). However, Martin runs cold from time to time, and this is an exhausting sport psychologically, especially at this level. His heart may not be in it anymore. But Bo might be a world level elite in the making. Only time will tell. Either way, Penn State is pumping out killers.

    I can see that Nickel is a poised, patient, smart, confident grappler. It takes a 15-20 yrs of dedication to be this good at this level. I gave 10 yrs to it, and it's by far the most demanding sport in my experience. He also is at the correct weight for the talent he has. That was a good match though. The points show otherwise, but, Martin is obviously right there. I think he could go one weight class up for his stature. Top notch wrestling for both sides really.

    @Mr. Sweet Potato Head interviews, friends, internet, etc. Bo will be in the same weight class as David Taylor in freestyle!! Think about that one. Oh, Martial Arts Magazines too, at the Publix while we were at the store. If you're talking about Bo's Judo background. They've mentioned it during Wrestling matches too...several times. I've been on and off of Judo about 30 of my 53 years myself, and heard about it in there. We tried our best back in the early 80's to Integrate Wrestling and Judo (during the Karate Kid days), but being 10 years before the first UFC, we didn't have much of a background to work from. Still won 2 State Championships at 189lbs. In 83 and 84 in Tennessee though... although that was a WHOLE life ago....time flies, enjoy it while you're young!!

  • @jimjameson1906

    @jimjameson1906

    Wrong. In fact, Ohio State's wrestlers ARE the STRONGEST wrestlers physically. The problems they have are that they cut FAR too much weight and often gas out in the third, and that they do not have the hip flexibility to win scrambles or funk sequences. Nickal is better than Martin in every position, which is why Nickal will always win unless he slips on a throw(the first loss) or gives up two quick takedowns and allows Martin to stall out the third(second loss). Ohio St has the same problem that Ok St has: They wear down in March because of weight pull.

  • @jonathanbachman2339

    @jonathanbachman2339

    Jim Jameson Obviously your an ignorant OSU fan. All wrestlers have to maintain wt. So......now your saying they are undisciplined AND weak? Yes Sir they are weak , undisciplined and lack stamina. You do not get man handled like OSU did 49, 65, 74 and 84 and lose to perhaps one of the greatest wrestling squads ever assembled. OSU is well coach and technically sound. OSU IS WEAK compared to Penn State. Flexibility? No Martin got manhandled. Taken down with a double. Nickal is in his head. Bo will stick him. Soon. Maybe at the Big Tens. Or the National Championship. It is inevitable. Martin like the rest of the OSU wrestlers are weak.

    Folkstyle wrestling came from catch wrestling. Which was heavily influenced by japanese jujitsu. Men like Yukio Tani. In fact many throws in freestyle wrestling look like judo throw. Watch the 1937 NCAA wrestling on KZread and tell if it doesn't resemble nogi grappling. But without submission.

    wrestling, the oldest sport in the world, next to running. The ability to control if a conflict stays standing or goes to the ground is crucial. I was able to use my wrestling experience to save me many times, from drunks, angry people etc. when you slam someone on the concrete or a floor with even just a blast double, 99% of people stay down.
