Save the Eevee naming until Level 42 requirements. You need to evolve each one to get to the next level. Found that out the hard way. Also, save evolutions that need an item (King’s Rock for instance) as you’ll need to evolve 15 that way.

Today I learned that I should name my Eevee pyro cuz I am a tf2 pyro main

Pro tip: It’s relatively easy to get all the eevee evolutions without the name trick. Don’t use it when you need the evolutions to level up. Use the name trick to guarantee you get the shiny evolutions.

There's never any indication that you will ever need to evolve to all forms for Research, at least not for beginners. Eevee is so common and typing so important that it might even be more beneficial to use the trick for GBL and then do research the hard way.

@@StormySky48 the Eevee obviously has to be shiny. Start with shiny Eevee, name it, evolve. Didn’t think I’d have to explain this one lmao.

The thing with the route is wrong! It only works if you missed a zygarde cell, if you didn't miss one, no cells will appear.

You only get 3 spawns from a route so if 3 pokemon spawn trough/from the route you won't get one. If only 2 pokemon spawned that route it should work its not consistent

That technique was when it would auto complete the route, now you have to confirm it

The route feature is much better now. It doesn't automatically complete when you get close to the end so you can walk right up to the end. And in my experience they spawn most of the time and always around the end of the route

At the beginning the route would pause the second you left it and it was strict, meaning that if someone set a route driving you need to follow the road. The sidewalk was to far away 😅. It has been a lot better now with that

I started a year after the game came out, so I had heard of the trick. Pikachu was the only Pokémon I knew so I chose that. What I didn't know was there was a special encounter that week so mine had ash hat

you could also have mentioned that the Raid boss last ball is always either escape on the first nudge, or catch if it doesn't escape on the first nudge.

I'm sure you could get most of the mythicals via special research as long as you're in a certain part of the mew quest

If you are talking about the mythical discovery tasks, I just can't find a ditto 🥲

The name trick works for every evolution, but only once per evolution. If you want 2 vaporeons and a jolteon, you can guarantee one of each but have to get lucky for the second vaporeon

I struggled a lot with evolve a magikarp, because for some reason there just wasn’t event spawning magikarp, and it was not as common as it used to be (I played in 2016-2017, quit, then rejoined like 2022 on a new account)

with the mythical discovery, getting to certain steps grants you research for meloetta and celebi. meloetta is unlocked at stage 2 (i think) and celebi is unlocked at step 8

Zygarde doesn't evolve it just changes it form with more cells

I think the Eevee-evolution name trick resets after a couple years. Or else they reset it when they added level 42(?) tasks. I remember using it a few years back, and then trying it for level 42 and being surprised that it worked. But really stock up on Eevee and evolve them at random.

Didn’t know about the Eevee name trick. Ironically named mine Pyro back in the day, and came back to it after a long time and now it’s a Flareon

Buddy functionality idea / introduction of “bottle caps”: What if for a certain amount of Km walked with a buddy, the buddied Pokémon were to find a bottle cap where, when applied, would increase or decrease the buddy’s IVs by 1. For this idea, let’s say the Km needed to “find a bottle cap” were based on the rarity of the Pokémon and would multiply by 1.2x each IV gained. For example, based on the eggs the Pokémon hatch from, or the level raid needed for the reward encounter, would determine if you needed 20 (tier1), 30 (tier3), 40 (tier4) or 50Km (tier5) walked for a single IV change. If a trainer had a 10/15/15 IV Charmander, they would need to walk 148.832km (round to 149) with the buddy Pokémon to get to 100% IVs. If a trainer had a 10/15/15 IV Gible, they would need to walk 297.664km (round to 298) with the buddy Pokémon to get to 100% IVs. If a trainer had a 10/15/15 IV Mewtwo, they would need to walk 446.496km (round to 447) with the buddy Pokémon to get to 100% IVs. The same math would be applied to reduce IVs for PVP Pokemon. In addition to finding bottle caps with your buddy walking, perhaps they could be found in other activities by your buddy. Such as spinning stops/ raids/ gym battling / etc. This would also be EXTREMELY rare. To avoid problems with caught 100%s, the stat changes could be visibly different than normal stats with the following: * a notation on the Pokémon screen * different colored IVs showing a bottle cap was applied * the CP of these bottle capped Pokémon would be -1 of actual 100%s or PVP IVed caught Pokémon * the 100% bottle capped would not be searchable with 4* but would have a search just for “bottle capped.” Pros: - This would make spoofing or radar services less profitable and encourages more gameplay with the same Pokémon. - Entices player to “bond” with a single Pokémon for longer and therefore play the game more often to get the coveted 100% dex. - Allows all types of players to get 100%s while also not flooding the player base with actual 100%s. Cons: - All players would have access to the best Pokémon if they walk enough - The need to catch all Pokémon would be reduced slightly If you can think of any other pros/cons, reply to this comment so we can share our thoughts about the idea and maybe someone at Niantic will pick it up! Ideas welcomed and I’ll update the post accordingly. Side note: Could it be this is why Ash Ketchum’s Pikachu was so powerful? Because Ash built a string relationship with him? ditto has some seasonal pokemon it hides under (check out online), while zorua is your buddy I just caught everything around me for stardust and candy and finally got one ditto under oddish

check online the seasonal pokemon it can hide under, but the more things you catch for stardust and candy, the more likely a ditto will be in one of them

When i completed the task for the random unown, i ended up getting the q which I was super excited about because it's one of the rarer ones

How do you log in to Pokémon go when it is going slow

I've seen comments on "infinity Master ball". It's for one of the researches, timed or special. Can't remeber now. These DOESN'T consume balls. I have confirmed this myself. And what happens apparently is that it goes for the Master Ball as well. So you catch the Pokémon with Master Ball and because it doesn't count, you can keep your Master Ball. Haven't seen any credible sources and haven't dared to try it myself 😅

Smeargle. Doesn't need to be in ar mode. And if you see the camera icon pop up go take a picture of your buddy and it will appear. Helps to know because of the snapshot medal.

@MYSTIC7 you can get 3 master balls, not 2. The 3rd one is from a quest called a little warm up. You don't have it because you have played it every day. I didn't play for 7 months so I got it.

I still don't really care about reaching level 50 since I don't want Team GO Rocket to scale with the level I'm at lol

Meloetta can always be obtained... The special research is 1 of the programmed special researches that unlocks when you reach a certain level. I just started an alternate account 3 weeks ago and got that research like around level 10 or 15... Can't exactly remember which level but I got meloetta from it.
