I agree with Taylor (as someone who travels for work). Please book flights directly from the airline company. Only use the booking sites to find good prices. If you book through a 3rd part site and there hiccups, cancellations or mishaps, the airline customer service can’t help you. They’ll likely tell you to speak to the 3rd party site and the 3rd party sites are snakes.

If possible when I’m trying to cancel and rebook something that’s now less expensive, I try to do the rebooking step FIRST, then the cancellation step. I got burned a time or two cancelling first. It doesn’t always work, but might save some angst. Also, for car rentals, I find Costco Travel to be the least expensive most of the time. TFS! 💜

@@karisoto21 Sure. I’m a long-term care (LTC) investigator. I got my BA in Psychology, and ended up taking some classes in Aging, Death and Dying, and Geriatrics in the last year or so. I really enjoyed it. I remember thinking I’d love to make sure elderly people got good care later in life, but didn’t know how to get into it. I went to grad school for something not too different than you. I got a job working in a nursing home (there are a lot of administrative type jobs there), and then eventually I got a job working for a state health department as an investigator of nursing homes. Almost every single state I’ve got to so far has been up in desperate need of investigators, not just for nursing homes, but assisted living facilities, family care homes, adult daycare centers, and more. There is also a whole world in the Veteran’s Affairs for jobs. They have hospitals, state veteran homes, domiciliaries (like Alf’s), and so on. You should look at state and VA jobs, and consider Admissions, Activities, and Administrative jobs. Experience is less important than caring, and you have the background education. Then you continue from there. It’s a whole world, full of potential job growth.

I'd like to add one thing about third party booking sites. My husband and I both work in the hotel industry, in two heavy tourist towns. Just because you've booked via third party site, doesn't mean you're going to get exactly what they sold you, and if when checking in, the hotel can't give you what the booking site sold you, it's not the hotels fault, and during peak season, they probably can't make the changes you need/want.

@@katrod46 basically lol I also work in hotels (Marriott specifically.. for many years, also in a tourist area) and also a lot of hotels oversell rooms like airlines oversell seats and if for some reason the hotel is oversold, 3rd party bookings generally get sent to other properties first compared to loyalty program members. Also, I would recommend never prepaying on 3rd party either because if something happens (maintenance issues, cleanliness issues, etc.) there is basically no way for the hotel to compensate you financially since you paid the 3rd party, not the hotel directly. Join Marriott bonvoy, or hilton rewards etc and you’ll get discounts, garner points, and some properties will even match 3rd party rates because they don’t want to deal with the 3rd party reservation’s accounts payable from an accounting standpoint. I would just generally avoid 3rd party and climb the ranks in your favorite brand’s loyalty program. You get more perks like free upgraded rooms, guaranteed late check outs, complimentary drinks/breakfast and can use points for free stays etc. just my (long) two cents.

Saved to rewatch this. I’m planning my first solo trip. Winter in Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. :) The one thing I would add about off season traveling. Researching my trip, I discovered not to go in April. It’s the end of the winter season and before the spring season has started. It’s an in between time and some places are closed for April. So Im looking to travel between Jan and March. I’ve found some places I want to stay and things I want to do, but your trip advice will help me save a lot of money!!! Thank you!!

I was so hoping you'd make a video like this. I'm interested in even more information if you're willing to share: health insurance for travel, etc. Always love your content, Taylor. Glad I started following you over 3 years ago. Love the evolution of your channel as well. Oh and "Happy belated Birthday!" from another Gemini! 🥳 🙌🏻

@@taylorwynn I did find it after I posted and rewatched that video. Saved 3 of your vids to a travel playlist I just created. Keep doing you, I love it! LOVE the versatility of your channel now. 🤗 🙌🏻 ❤️
Thank you Taylor. I'm a single older woman traveling. Those tips are really helpful! Hugs from Philly... ❤
Love the tips! I've been booking shorter 4 day trips during the week instead of the weekend. Hotels and bed and breakfasts are so much pricier for the weekend.
Hi Taylor good morning happy Monday morning and I hope you having amazing weekend and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter and I'm proud of you
Taylor, excellent video❤ I always thought it was cheaper to book hotel & room together for less expensive trips, it seems you have found a way to do them separately for great discounts. I would love to hear more on this if you would be willing to expand.
Perfect timing
Great video content. Thank you
Saved to rewatch this. Thank you!!
You should get set up as a travel agent. You could get discounts for awesome places plus get commissions for all those travel plans your already making. Just seems like something you would like
Taylor thank you. Reallyy, Very helpful 👍😘
Ooooh girl this is going to get some viewzzz. So excited.
🤯 This is amazing! I thought I did well and had heard it all but all of these are great! New subscriber🙋🏻♀️
This information is SO helpful!! True GOLD!! We learned the hard way to always have the cancellation option. With health issues, we had to cancel an Air B&B trip and had to eat the cost~ PS I can't tell you how much I am loving the Goodal vitamin C serum!!🖤🖤🖤
Thank you! Learned a couple of new things. Your tips were not a regurgitation of other's list. New subscriber!
Looking forward to trying some of these tips. I am wanting to do a solo trip to Jordan. I am a little nervous but it’s been on my bucket list for awhile.
Thanks so much. My husband and I are traveling MUCH more (got rid of the kiddo). This helps so much!
