If you look closely William Daniels, you will notice him making weird mouth movements. When they were filming this scene, it was a chilly Philadelphia evening, as opposed to the hot and muggy one history recorded that specific night being. Daniels sucked on ice cubes throughout this whole number to avoid shivering and ruining the illusion. Have to admire the man for his dedication, that's all I have to say.

Great song, still somewhat applicable to today. (10.10.2013) "I have come to the conclusion that one useless man is a disgrace, that two are called a law firm, and that three or more become a Congress! " Great Musical, I watch it every July 4th

All of the segments that were cut from this full version are STILL left out in the Director's Cut! If I were John Adams, this fact would have gotten a well-deserved "Oh, good God!"

Nice to see but it doesn't look very well matched. The parts that ended up in the theatrical version look blurry and the sound level is lower, while the inserted footage actually looks sharper. Needs more finessing.

That is a myth (unfortunately perpetuated by this otherwise wonderful movie). It was John's personal perception that he was "obnoxious and suspected" but he wasn't. He definitely was bipolar and had mood swings but then these men were all human beings with problems and flaws. As it happens, Adams came away with more lifelong friends from the original Congress than anyone else.
