Why not teach this young lady sign language? Her and her family both. She does seem frustrated by the limitations of the ipad, and sign will help her communicate faster and better convey how she's feeling. And in speech therapy? Why? She clearly can't speak like that, and while taking the tip of her tongue will make her much more comfortable, that's usually not conducive to speech. Has no-one recommended sign? Did she try and didn't find it useful? She shouldn't have to feel like she has to be able to speak to get on in life and get her messages across, she could also find a community with sign language.

As some one who is autistic, the disabled community really dislike it when things like accommodations for aac are made to be "bad" when really it is non disabled people who make it bad for disabled individuals🤦🏼‍♀️

Why weren't the tumours removed years ago? Do they just grow back? They don't really explain beyond 'incurable'.

Generally speaking, surgeons won’t operate on jaws until a person has stopped growing because it can mess with growth of the jaw. I don’t know if this is the reason why her tumors weren’t removed sooner.

Lymphatics is in a way very complicated compared to blood vessels. They claimed there are these tubes like arteries of veins, but there isn't really - it's more like an open network that allows lymph fluid movement through the tissues. It is closely associated with blood vessels, and the fluid, derived from blood plasma, accumulates in the tissues from the capillaries. It is moved through these open vessels throughout the body mostly by action of your muscles, and it accumulates in lymph nodes where it drains back into the bloodstream. If that system is disrupted or malformed the fluid can't move and so accumulates in the tissues (lymphoedema) causing these tumorous growths. In your limbs you can make the fluid move out of the tissues through compression and massage, but if the lymph nodes are gone, or the fluid can't get to them due to a malformation there's not much to be done. It happens commonly after mastectomy, if the auxiliary lymph nodes were removed. The arm on that side becomes swollen. Considering they're trying medication, I'm guessing a surgical approach has been deemed not likely to help, at least at this point.

It's sad knowing there's also another 17yo girl suffering the same thing here in Indonesia, on Kita bisa (a fundraiser platform) she was supposed to go back to school once she had her surgery but the family lacked money, and the hospitals near her were all booked so her surgery was delayed. Idk if there are any updates on it now but I really hope she did have her surgery cuz it's been a year or two now.
