Do not, I repeat do not wait for the deli items last!!! Instead, to save time and be more efficient. Order your deli items first or whenever you pass by. Then continue shopping. And simply pick it up. That way you dont have to wait for them to prepare the food.

Right thats a horrible tip to give. Typically i go directly to the deli when I get into the store and tell them what i need. Since my store is stationed directly next to produce, I pre shop my produce, and once i grab the deli items i start shopping. My time greatly improved once I came up with this system!

Exactly! If you needed to pry these tips from current shoppers then you haven’t been shopping long enough. These are not tips. They are common sense.

I've been shopping with them for about 8 months and I was a "housewife" for 25 years. I know a LOT about grocery shopping. But I learned new stuff from you. Thanks! (In my area, rural, I can make about $450/week working about 4 5- or 6-hour days.

Thank you. I didn’t understand about waiting to do the deli items after you’ve checked out and taken a photo of your receipt. I get why it would make your speed lower but do you just pay fir those things separately with the instacart card?

Another tip to same time in produce. Get all your plastic bags first. 10 produce items 10 bags. No back and forth. I save good time.

Awesome tips! The one about having a power cell with you at all times is more than real. My very first instacart order realized I only had 5% battery life when I got to the store. I had to go back out to my car and charge up the battery twice during the trip and leave the cart with customer service. Luckily the customers were understanding and still gave me a $3 cash tip.

omg!I accepted a order yesterday and I forgotten that I only had 15% battery or I would have never took that order on. I was about to freak out thinking it was going to die before I made it to the register but luckily I had 2% battery left, enough for them to scan the barcode. so that was definitely a lesson learned.

Dude I'm a little confused on tip #12 concerning deli orders can you elaborate on that please? Like is selecting "go to check out" a pause button for the clock?

Hi, you said not to do the Deli orders until after you hit 'go to check out and entered all your receipt info. That way these orders don't count against your average batch time.' Why?

The app thing you mentioned is a great idea, I had an order for Nestle quik chocolate syrup which the instacart app said would be in the syrup asile it was not. It was in the ice cream topping row. I received my credit card, attached my debit, and did all the paperwork and criminal check and background check I mean all and it says to start earning money please complete training and when I click on alcohol training or goes to the next page to sign in and I never can sign in, nothing moves or anything...what should i do?

From my experience, people really don't want to chat. I've been doing IC for 3 weeks now and people just seem to take their groceries and go inside. I ask for them to leave a eating, but I've only gotten 3 people to rate, and 2 have given 5 stars.

The same bag should work for both. You’re supposed to have 3, they used to make you verify you have them.. not sure how that works these days

Yeah, wondering about that. Haven't delivered for Instacart yet. Amazon/whole foods has skyrocketed to up to $45 an hour in wealthy neighborhoods. BUT, I got my Instacart card and lanyard today and may try it if I can't get Amazon gig when I want to work.

Do I need special insurance for this company or my liability insurance will do?

There's a problem with the batches location sometimes it shows 1.6 miles away and when I swipe the batch it shows like 19 miles away!

Me too. Shouldn't have picked Walmart for my 1st batch order. Caught in work traffic for app didn't take into consideration. One customer wanted groceries...size availability was an issue. Second customer wanted hardware. 3rd customer wanted a flat screen TV to be delivered far away. So stressful.

Say you are parked next to a Food Maxx or other grocery store waiting for a batch to catch, and one pops up but on the app it wants you to drive across town to another food maxx for some odd reason. Can you get in trouble for shopping at the one that you are closest to? As long as it’s the same grocery store name… I should be fine. Right?

2) yeah if you want dents in your car 12) you might wanna clarify how to accomplish this... get the deli/butcher/seafood either first or last; if it’s first ask the clerk if they can take instruction (weight, quantity, cut, butchery, etc) and leave it on the counter when they finish for you to retrieve after you’ve started collecting the rest of the order... if it’s last, bypass the product scan with a picture of the meat etc sitting in the case, but you’ll have to input the weight to what order requests not to what the clerk actually weighs it out to

Watch them bag your items because they will mix up orders if u get a 2 batch and also make sure nothing falls out into the floor or trunk this has happened to me

My first day IC I noticed one order took 10% off my battery and I have a USB cable that is really ghey and charges slow .i figured out I attach a external battery and POW .first day Made 75$ in a 4 hours.

I didn’t receive the order I try to call it’s 320minutes waiting and the chopper didn’t come , how can I talk with the chopper, horrible service

I want to know how some shoppers get their speed down to like 50 or 60? One time a shopper in my area had a speed of 40??!! Wtf? Is that a legitimately achievable time or are they somehow fudging their numbers? Also when you take time out to ask how the customer is doing, etc. tends to lead to that $3 quality bonus. I consistently get a perfect score and I attribute a lot of it to just being friendly. Plus if you use the cooler bags from the time you take the items from the freezer, it keeps your frozen items frozen much liberty and most costumers appreciate it.

Hello, I am a new Instacart shopper and wanted to know if I always need to use the exact store that Instacart assigns me. Sometimes it will assign me to a store that is 20 minutes out of the way when there is the same store on the way. Thanks for the help

Tips are given at the time the person places order so the only extra tip you get is cash if they decide to give you some . I don't think it makes a difference trying to make to convo with the customer the tips are given before knowing who the shopper is.

The customer can modify the tip and rate you for up to 3 days after the delivery. I've had a few orders where my tips have changed post-delivery. Mostly for the better thankfully. Either way, you always want the customer to have a good experience to encourage them to use the service more. More orders = more money for us!!

Nope... my tips have been adjusted several times to a higher tip and being kind do help not just for tips because we should be anyway!

Most if these tips were obvious things I learned after my second trip doing instacart but I learned a thing or two 😅maybe

The best common sense approach to Grocery shopping for strangers.

This is what I do first for every order. Before I swipe to shop, I go stand next to the vegetable baggies. Then swipe to shop. Count how many different vegetables, meats and ice-cream I have, then get that many baggies to put them in. Get all vegetables in the basket first, then go to the scale to weight them. Of course buy the frozen and hot foods last. Also, I rejected two orders and was logged out of my 10 hour shift for the day. So I always accept them now. Also, don't worry about weight that much on produce. They want 7 bananas, they don't give a shit how much it weighs.

Kenn Tollens I believe one per shift but could be wrong. Have also heard that acceptance rate is biggest factor in batch prioritization so can’t say I’d recommend doing it a lot...

Ill park at Cosco at 8am. I get orders every time. Its worth it Take ALOT of pics of items on customers door step tho. Ppl lie and say they didnt receive it. Ive learned so much on my own its crazy. He is saying to get your deli order first and pick it up after ur done with your other items, then check out. Saves time

@@Gignation BUT you don't have to use/buy those from IC. Shop Walmart, Amazon. You can get good sized bags for under $8..usually closer to $6. Try to keep at least 6, so you have enough for multi-order batches. PS....buy some simple Avery Stick on labels to label your bags/order separators when shopping. Put order letter (A B C, etc) , customer name and item/units on each one . Makes it SO much easier and faster to shop multi order batches .
