I'm joined today by my long-time friend Russ, as we attempt an overnight backpacking trip (17 miles) to Solitude Lake in Grand Tetons National Park. This hike was is often cited as many people's favorite hike EVER, and let me tell you this just might be my favorite backpacking trip of all time. I've never seen also big before! The Tetons are such a special place, and I hope everyone gets a chance to visit them one day.

    Snow shoeing is like walking in soft sand... it is tireing! 5 miles snowshoeing is like hiking 10-15 miles regular. 17 miles is a pretty aggressive hike on snowshoes. But, what a great challenge and experience... nothing like snowshoeing... the mountains are extra peaceful and beautiful in the snow. Thanks for the great video.

    Your channel is fresh compared to all these UL backpackers channels I’ve seen. Thank you for filming and sharing your adventures with all of us. My goal this year is to get ready for winter backpacking since my work keeps my busy 7 days a week during summer months. Cheers!

  • @TheBackpackingBiologist

    @TheBackpackingBiologist

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thanks! I filmed that May of 2021! Still a ton of snow up there heading into the summer. The main factors for backpacking outside of summer months are temperature, terrain and gear. If you're good on all 3 factors you can pretty much camp anywhere. We were solid on the gear and temperature this trip, the terrain is the thing that took us by surprise. We also talked to the rangers to see what was our best option, which is something everyone should do if they're not familiar with the area!
