The baby had a name. His name was Lovebug. We did everything we could, but without that developed swallow reflex, there wasn’t a lot of hope for recovery. It is hard to see in the video, but his pink skin was grey. He was hypoxic. His blood was not absorbing or carrying oxygen to his tissues even though he was breathing. As said in the video, he was probably trampled on/crushed after birth considering there were 16 guinea pigs in one cat carrier. I am sorry we couldn’t do more. I am sorry. His three siblings are doing great (a girl and two boys) and will go to their forever homes in a couple of weeks when they are weaned. Some of the big males have been adopted already! Thank you, everyone, for your support of our rescue.

@@averymagana2072 Thank you for all your care. Our home sanctuary has 23 rescued piggies. One is definitely a hospice piggie. I’m feeding him critical care mixed with apple banana baby food. He loves it. He also loves being next door to Gus, one of our permanent residents. His former family named him Fishlegs. I think a cute”old man” name like Cornelius would be better!

At least he was genuinely cared for and comfortable when he passed.
Bless the man for not only contacting you, but also for actually getting his old cage so that he could separate the male guinea pig.
Remember, the baby was loved. He didn't die in the heartless, scary situation by that trash can. He was in y our loving hands, and will be wheeking for you when you cross the rainbow bridge.
Thank to the man who did not pass by indifferently by the lesser brothers!
Poor sweet baby. My heart hurts, every time I see little innocent babies like this one leave the world before they've even had a chance to really live 💔 Thank you for doing what you could to help the little one, Saskia! At least in his last moments he knew some form of love and care. Thank you for putting your heart into caring for all of the guinea pigs that you have taken into your arms ❤️ God bless you for your dedication!
Poor little guy didn't even have a chance to live. I am glad he experienced some love in his short life, it wasn't just all suffering. Al least his siblings will have a chance now they are with you.
I don’t think ppl truly understand how much work goes into having a guinea pig. They are a lot of work and take a lot of time. But they are worth it.
One of my piggy boys was left in a dumpster in a cage with another piggy who didn't make it. I'm so thankful for the people who found him and the guy who found these guys!
Stay strong Saskia. I know you've experience a lot of heartbreak, both personal and at the rescue but know that your love and kindness helps these poor little guys. God bless that gentleman, people are so cruel, they have feelings to, they just don't speak our language.
Bless you for trying. My hope is someone considering dumping their piggies sees this and decides to go to a rescue. One more joined us today. The family contacted me through my church. They said he was lonely and miserable. Had stopped eating. I checked him quickly and gave him good hay and pellets. (And ivermectin) He started wheeking to his neighbor piggies and began to eat. Hopefully tragedy averted.

Ikke My three got me through rough times to and I miss them so much Harley, and sweety was abused before I got them and then I got a little baby girl guinea pig and she would say squeak squeak squeak a you are so very right they are so very speciall, they give us unconditional love and Harley was the one that I didn’t get the chance to hold him inin my loving arms when he passed away and went to heaven , and i had Harley for about a year and a half and sweety seven years in my arms and squeakers, was seven all so when we she went to heaven in my arms, and they slept right next to me every night I miss hearing them drinking from their water bottles at night
I was doing courier service some years ago. Someone left 4 newborn kittens in a box at a vet after hours. I knew if I left them there by morning they'd be dead. Took them home fed with a bottle like this. Every two hours. Of the 4, only two survived. Super devastated. But the 2 got great forever homes in a big house. ❤
RIP BEAUTIFUL ❤️🐹🕊😥
Poor little guy and his siblings, whom also passed away. I understand what you mean about death getting harder to take as we get older. Thank you so much for continuing to care for these beautiful animals. You're a special lady, one of those so-called one-in-a-million. God bless you, Saskia 💗
This is so sad poor piggie. Just yesterday I had to bury a squirrel that I saw bite the transformer on the telephone pole outside my home. I had just gotten done saving a snake bird that had string tied around its beak so hard I had to take a pair of scissors and carefully cut away all the string. The poor thing couldn't open and close it's long beak. It took me about fifteen minutes to cut all the string off before I could set him free. He had a happy ending, but just as soon as I got done saving that bird I watch a squirrel get zapped and so I buried him and thought how cruel life is. I am grateful for all the pigs you did save but sadly no matter how hard you try you can't save them all. If there's an afterlife. I hope my Butthead is there and he guides all the new piggies along that cross tge rainbow bridge. I hope they are in a beautiful park on the other side with endless food of all kinds. I hope the piggies are all building cool things like tunnels and playing in the grass. All I can do is hope that this place in my head exist in another dimension.

Poor little ones!! May God give animals justice from the evil people who hurt them, and may God bless those who help them.
I agree losing them gets harder to the point where I cannot do it anymore
So heartbreaking. But people get 2 and then get over their heads when they start breeding. That's how I got 14, rescuing from coworkers. Last 3 were 2 pregnant females and dad. He started with 2 ended up with 8, gave me 3 and kept mom and 4 babies. Afraid he's back up to more, especially when I told him to take boys out at 3 weeks and he was shocked! One of the "boys" he gave me was a girl and was with the dad. The other girl was extremely pregnant-had 3 a week later, so 3 became 8 for me!! But at least not for them. I have a huge 2x7 2story and a Midwest til boys can get fixed-only 1 gp vet in town and not doing gp right now!

Same, a friend working at the local zoo called me because someone surrendered 3 guinea pigs to them (they don't usually accept surrenders so they won't encourage owners to just throw their pets away but the cashier didn't know that) it was 3 females, who after 2 weeks gave birth to 5 babies, one of which was half the size of her siblings and couldn't stand, we managed to save her by syringe feeding so it was happy end but i feel like there are more pigs from where they came from.
Thank you for loving that little baby😢💔

It breaks my heart every time a wee one like this passes...I know it's 'nature', but it still bothers me because this could have been prevented. I have 3 boars & 4 sows. 2 of my sows(rescues & was told they were the only pig in the house, separate rescues), but both each had 3 of the most adorable little girls each, taking my heard up to 13!! 2 of the babies are going to an amazing home with a friend of mine for Christmas. It's a bit of work but they are beyond worth it & let me know every time I walk in the door. 🥰
What a nice guy saving these all doing a good job xx
My heart shattered into a million pieces 😭 That little baby didn’t deserve that short life of suffering. I’m so glad the others are looking okay. They don’t deserve to be treated like trash and shoved in a small space together 😞 Hopefully they’ll all go on to experience endless comfort and love. I know we shouldn’t think on “if only” situations... but considering how new the baby was, if the person/people had surrendered them instead of dumping them, the momma could’ve given birth in a safe setting and give the baby a chance 😞 I can’t believe there’s people out there who can be so heartless. It’s such an extreme opposite seeing all the love and dedication you all give to each individual ❤️ They have the best chance with you. Thank you for all you do. Your long hours, sweat, tears, love and hard work doesn’t go unnoticed. Lastly, thank you to the guy who saved them ❤️❤️ I hate to think that there could’ve been people who ignored them 😭
