17 COLLEGE DECISION REACTIONS 2023- (realistic and somewhat unenthusiastic) (Ivies, UCs, NYU, Duke…)
Hi everyone! One of the things I was most excited for in the college decisions process was being able to film all my reactions- not only for college applying seniors, but for personal account. Since the beginning of high school, I remember being obsessed which watching college decision videos, experiencing the same levels of fear, excitement, and confusion felt by those people. After going through the college process myself, I can now understand that no two people's reaction to good/bad news will be the same, and it's okay to respond differently. A lot of the viral decision reactions you will see often include ivy acceptances and a lot of physical excitement as a response, but I think it's important for college-applying students to see the other side of it, including many rejections, and reactions that aren't your "conventional screams" or "gasps" haha. There's no one way to react, especially to news as big as college decisions. I hope you all enjoy watching this video as much as I did making it, and gain some merit from watching it. GOOD LUCK to the Senior Class of 2024 in their applications this fall! (This should be a no brainer) but do not apply late, but don't stress either. You're never stuck at the college you enroll in- you can always transfer :)

Can you share your stats and ECS that got you waitlisted at yale and got you into NYU and UC berkeley?
What was your SAT Score because I know these Florida university’s want you to submit it or did you do test-optional?

Hi my name is kirt. Do you think cornell and john hopkins would look at my application if i attend a school that does narrative grades? I go to a school named A School Without Walls in NYC. Im on the student leadership team, am doing the NYS envirothon, am pursuing a passion project on racial inequality, and am on debate team. Im also hoping to do an internship and do community service. I also am soon gonna apply to do college now classes at hunter college and am prepping for the SAT. I am gonna in 11th grade/12th grade gonna take the two AP classes my school offers which is AP Seminar and Research. For my regents scores i have 79+. Do you think I have a decent chance at getting into stony brook, john hopkins, and cornell?

Hey Kirt! Although I did go through it, I’m not an expert on the college admissions process 😅 but I can try to offer my two cents. I definitely think colleges will accommodate the fact that your school is not based on a traditional grade system if you reach out to their admissions office via email describing your situation, and they’ll provide a more detailed answer. It seems that you’ve got great extracurriculars going on, which is essential to your application! I’m not from NY, but from what i garnered (through Google lol) is that you’ve got impressive test scores going for yourself. I’d say you’ve got a strong head start on building your application, and remember that college admissions is holistic in the sense that it’s not only stats that matter, but your essays, letter of recommendations, ECs, etc as well. They want to learn who you are as a person! Best of luck for your future!☺️

You had a lot of success. I’m a sophomore. At the end of freshman year, my unweighted gpa was a 3.75 Edit: gpa is a 3.83 after the first semester of sophomore year. I hope this is decent.

try to bring it up to 3.85-3.9 range for high tier schools, but don't sweat it too much your freshman year barely matters
