16A - Smoothest landing ever! Engine Failures in the Circuit - Private Pilot - NPPL - How to fly

Don't forget to subscribe to my channel & press the bell 🔔 for more updates.
In this lesson we go through simulated engine failures at various points in the circuit. REALLY useful lesson on glide approach and unpowered landings.
Key points:
* NOSE DOWN NOSE DOWN - gotta maintain air speed once the engine stops providing thrust
* If you haven't got enough altitude then you don't have a choice where to put it, so get the nose down & pick somewhere you know you can glide to
* Get that 2nd stage of flap in once you are comfortable and inside the white arc.
* If you need to lose altitude then you can extend your base leg in a series of ever shorterning legs, keeping the 'cone' off the runway in mind.
Finally, if you've managed to fly it off the runway and gain a few hundred feet, you actually have a lot more time then you think.
Enjoy!

This looks like one of those "scary but essential" lessons. I expect I'll get to this in a few weeks... fun!

Dan it was really really transformative for my landings. Thankfully no xwind that day but couple of landings I think even Julian was secretly impressed by. The failure 10ft off the ground on the runway will take much more practice though 😂
