Really sorry to hear your experience. I'm very thankful for my experience with 160 in Columbus, OH. Don't give up, bad instructors eventually get weeded out if that location's passing percentage is low. It doesn't help the testing lovation is so far from the yard, I bet that'd suck. Keep ur head up

Your experience is pretty common with most trucking schools. But don’t let that discourage you. If you want a great school and trucking company to start with, I recommend Frozen Food Express. They are in Texas and they have their own school. Maybe give them a call. Good luck bro.

Similar experience when I did the apprenticeship at FedEx freight. The instructor wasn’t a good one which ended in a huge argument. I ended up leaving the program that day. It’s hard cause you take a chance on this opportunity but run into situations and people that are keeping you from it. I am a young father with kids also i feel for you. Also as far as the state paying for it, if you go to the unemployment office and are low income, just walk in and tell them you’d like to see if they have a program to pay for you to go to cdl truck driving school and they will pay for it 100% as long as you meet the criteria. If not, I’d go to prime 100%.

I'm sorry you went thru this, but sadly, it's not just 160, these kinds of things are happening at driving schools across the country.. I'm in school now, was suppose to graduate on the 9th but didn't pass the driving test (yet) ..Aced the Pre-trip and Skills, but failed the road test.. we practiced with and tested with "manual" 10 speed trucks.. thankfully the school I attended has given me a modified schedule to come 2-3 days a week to keep practicing the road trip, until I test again.. before I started classes at the school I chose to attend, I researched all the schools in my state, including 160, and I could tell simply from their online reviews and numerous KZread videos about them, that 160 would be a bad choice for me (most of the others were too) 😮 eventually I'm going to do a video on driving Instrutors and these schools, there's definitely a pattern and definitely some problems! 🤨 It's for sure not the experience that most people think it will be!..

My old DSP fired me recently for rolling a stop sign 🛑 that had a tree behind it 💀😭. Also looking into getting in the trucking industry as well (you're 13 steps ahead of me) 😂. What I've been doing over the past 6 months is studying my CDL manual (and online free training resources). I've been slowly studying methods of obtaining a CDL that will financially fit my needs and rewarded goals. Since the DSP let me go, I'll fall back on my security guard license until I get enough to step into a CDL school. I got curious and searched for schools near me; and 160 Driving Academy was one ofnthe top results per their google ratings. So this is why I'm here 😂.

Yup! Shout out to Las Vegas 160 school. Trainers were x bonehead truck drivers and lazy bozos. Went in 2022 and paid out of pocket unfortunately (6k I think 🤔). Main issue was the junky equipment. Most of the time there were 3 working trucks to practice on between 30 plus students. Alot of these Amazon guys 😅. Problem is only a couple hours a day were for backing practice. Divide that between 30 students, we were almost fighting each other for a turn! We got to drive for 1 hour a day IF their trucks weren't broken down. I graduated with some difficulty 😪. But what he's saying is true, look into the school you plan to go to. Talk to the students

I even seen a couple of students get into it with the instructors. honestly pretty shitty experience but i’m just so blessed I passed all my test on the first try and i’m done going to that bogus ass school .

I had the same experience at 160 in Lubbock Texas. The instructors were never around, everything I learned was from other students basically. We did have one amazing instructor who really knew his job and really tried to help everybody he possibly could. We had about 20 to 25 students at a time with one truck for everybody to work with. So that guy couldn't be everywhere at once helping everybody at once. He was out taking people on the road every week anyway, so 3 days of the week he wasn't there to help you on the yard, and then on Fridays he was at the DPS testing. He was great, but he was never there, and it's not his fault I don't blame him. The other instructors sat in their cars, didn't care about any of the students. They falsified our hours so that we could take our tests. I personally had four and a half hours of maneuvers, and they falsified my hours up to the 36 that's required by the DPS to even take the test. Unfortunately, I have paid out a pocket. That was a waste of time not being able to work, and I would have been better off burning the $5,000 to keep warm in the cold weather. I'm sorry you had this experience. I really feel for you. I feel like I'm very lucky that the The truck we had that was basically duct taped together held out for my test, so I didn't have to go through that part like you did. Just keep trying man. You know that you learned everything you need to know, even though it was from other students. You can pass that test. It's not ideal after all this time that you've wasted, but I do know there's a place in fort Worth where you can rent a truck to go take the DPS test. It should cost you less than $1,000. I was looking into them for myself because I wasn't sure I'd be able to pass the test due to equipment failure, or overly strict examiners at our DPS office.

Are you aware that you can go to CDL school and your state will pay for it (if you qualify).. that's how I went to school for free.. research the schools in your state before you choose one to attend..
