What a difficult song to skate to and what a strong performance by Liu in her Free Skate Routine at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. Liu ended up on a decent 7th place regarding the fact that she was just 16 by the time. Beijing 2022 were Liu's first and also last Winter Olympics as she proceeded to end her career the same year.

I am so glad she chose her long term health and mental health over this toxic sport. I'm happy she's getting the appreciation she deserves, but it's sad it's only after the means of those who she was constantly compared to was brought to light. She has achieved SO much at the tender age of 16, I hope she is proud of herself! I wish you all the best and thank you Alysa for the joy you brought to this sport like this beautiful free skate!

@Looloo L the US media put too much pressure on her too. She she could do the quad and 3A in her junior years, they swarm over her with the expectation of "finally, an American skater to combat the Russians". She still had to hit puberty and her training isn't as strict and tough as the Russians that she felt more and more pressure of not up to their expectations. How could she still enjoy competing in that state?

@Looloo L you said it all, but don't expect those people to care for athletes they already decided were on the wrong side of russian boundary. @wickedwitch7456

@Looloo L they talk about how quad is Ruining their body (which it does, I'll agree) and how cruel it is for Russia to train their athletes to do difficult jumps and calling it child abuse, but the moment an American skater or an Asian female skater does a 3A or a quad, they sing in praises of their talent and how their "Technique" is better than the Russians only for them to lose it again earlier than the Russians, so they go back of the same thing and then restarts
@elizabethisaverdian9707

@Wicked Witch it all depends on body type - Tuktamisheva was jumping 3A at 16 and jumps now at 26 - and the perfect one - but no quads. On the other hands Trusova wants to jump all 5 quads and 3A against her coaches' will. And Valyeva has a very heavy body ( like Zagitova) - you can almost physically feel like they fight with their body's... And sorry, I didn't see anything special in the presentation above, except...for the dress.
