Not sure how you managed to quote me since you don't even know me, but ISTP was pretty spot on. The only name for a child I enjoy is Zayl, and that's because I read about him in books and enjoy his loner personality. I do tend to hate people, but not particularly for being people. I hate the logical inconsistency and irrational thinking of most people.

INFP here. For my first daughter we had picked a name. When I first saw her I said to my husband that she definitely doesn't seem to be a Maria. He agreed. For 3 days we called her just "baby", trying to find out who she was. Finally we understood her name is Christina and wondered why that name never had been on our list. With the second child we chose a name, but we said we'd not tell anyone until we'd know her in person and see if it fits. She turned out to match the name we had chosen.

INFP, I made all of the nurses mad with my 5 month old cuz we wouldn't decide on a name. My husband ended up naming her the name I had been begging for for months. Then on the way home from the hospital I had an absolute meltdown and we switched her first and middle name 🥲Her current first name is perfect I also had to go through every name to see how someone could possibly bully her and got rid of all bully potential names

Agreed, I am also INTP and the bullying one was the only one I resonated with. (And I have always liked the name Sonya, but I won't be having any kids either.) The Mario cart thing was completely out of character for me. Logicians put a lot of thought into things and brood on decisions. The likelihood of naming something so thoughtlessly is not accurate. This is funny because I had to go through this last year. I am an INTJ and the dad is an ENFP. He was throwing out names just how Frank's ENFP did, just weird... very weird names and was insistent on them too. I spent months looking up names, making lists and asking how he felt about them then repeating the whole process. It was hard finding ones that were in the middle of being different and normal... because I also didn't want it to be plain or common either, but I didn't want it to be so weird he'd be made fun of. We ended up with a list of 5 names we both agreed on because like Frank's INFP said, I didn't want my baby to be stuck with a name that didn't suit him. There was a name we both like the most and low and behold when he came out, he did not look like that name at all so I am glad I had some back ups. Funny enough, he ended up with one of the names his dad picked lol. I love it.

Similar with names like Theodosia possibly being Theo or Dosie or Dora, or William being Will or Wills or Bill or Billy. Vanessa can be Vanny or Nessie or Nessa. There are many names like this that can be adapted to any circumstance and personal preference, so that the child has the widest possible number of options for formal and informal situations and degrees of relationship. Rather than limiting a kid with a name like Tim, I'd pick Timothy and let him decide for himself if he wants to be Tim or Timmy or Timothy.

I can relate to the ENFJ giving such a value to a name, even if I wouldn't go as far as waiting for the child to be old enough to decide (that's unpractical). And the "over-the-top" care for is so accurate it hurts...from the laughter 🤣 It also strikes me that the wife looks like she's either an ENTJ or an ISTP: I can see that couple working out surprisingly well 😲

INFJ. I called my youngest son Torccal Sorely McDougall. Strangely enough, they are all family names. Though I was tempted to call him Dougall McDougall.

Oh my. Timmy's origins story finally dropped. 😩 Also, I never had to bother about naming kids. But I had to name pets which is, to me, the same process. 😃 And my biggest source of inspiration is fictional characters I like. I had a gerbil named Ezio, cats named Mushu, Milo, a canary named Loulou (which is the name of one of Donald Duck's nephews in French). We got Joy before the movie Inside Out came out, but that was funny to see that even her had her movie name! About human names, I generally have a thing for Nordic or Celtic names. So I'd assume naming a child would be a months long struggle trying to find something among all of that. 😁

I'm an INFJ married to an ISFP...we picked out our son's name on our first date...7 years before he was born. My mom, an ESTJ, tried to talk us out of it by saying how much everyone will hate the name and bully him, and that we should name him something more normal. I told her in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter. In a thousand years, no one will care. 😲
