What I got from this: Don't wait until you have no time left to tell people how you feel. Be honest with everyone. Love hard, live life to the fullest. When you're left with only 1500 words left, all you'll have is your own thoughts and regrets. Personally, I would spend my last words thanking everyone and telling them how much I love them. But why wait? Why wait when you're essentially staring death in the face to be honest with yourself and others? This helped me realize that I'm not being honest with myself, and I'm going to spend the day with my family today. Thank you.

First of all, great film. Second, after watching it five times and still loving it I FINALLY GOT IT julia wanted a baby!! It explains so much, it gives meaning to that frustated and repressed yes more than just wanting to live, those were the 4 words he feared "i want a baby" (or "lets have a child" and its possible variants) and it helps understand why didnt he just went on using alternatives to speaking such as writing, what kind of father could live like that? Without being able to tell a son that he loved him or sing to her a happy birthday song or laugh. He just knew he couldn't do it and left her without explanation. It makes that yes have more weight.

On some level Stanley was suicidal, as he was told he had only 1500 words left to live, and then managed to use up over 1450 of them before he even left the doctor's office. To see what he COULD have done instead, I refer you to season 2, episode 25 of the original Twilight Zone (aired April 28, 1961), called "The Silence". But I guess Stanley wasn't very bright.
