    Listening to these people talk about money…I’m so glad you share this..Josh, say less to the people you are selling to. Even if the wholesale is at this and you don’t want to hold onto it, don’t let people know this information Keep it in your head. Say Less! Be friendly but don’t give so much info.

    I really hate these consignment talks. The business is assuming no risk and just passing it on to the customer. Pay off the watch at true market value and everyone goes home happy.

    Not sure what you mean by “true market value” because if we bought a watch at true market value, there would be zero profit for our business. Some clients prefer consignment so they can get the most money for their watch. This does come with some risks, which is why it’s important that you work with a reputable and insured business. Others accept a straight buy offer, which is just below wholesale pricing and they receive payment immediately. It depends on the client, the watch, and the timeline, etc. We make profits because we have spent time and money building a business that provides value for the watch enthusiast looking to buy/sell/trade.

    @@mikeandjoshofficial While I agree that it’s a business and you need to make a profit, my suggestion is to buy the watch at market value with a reasonable profit margin, avoiding a significant price gap between the consignment suggestion price and cash offer. My comment is particularly geared towards Rolex sports models, which sell faster than other brands. If operational costs are consistent for both consignment and watches bought upfront (especially for Rolex), it seems unfair to your customers to have a substantial price difference. High ticket or unique pieces (like Bovet) may justify consignment, but for well established brands like Rolex, a straightforward purchase could be more transparent and beneficial for customers.
