Could you do a video about how to make the best use of an inheritance? I’m getting $20,000 to $40,000 from the sale of my Grandad’s house and I have $58,000 in student debt. I don’t want to waste it and I want to use it to start a fashion KZread channel, a business, and then once I start making enough passive income I want to reduce my work hours and write a novel. I’d also like to build and live in a tiny home renovated bus for a few years so I don’t have to pay rent and can travel easily. I’m trying to think of this inheritance as a seed that my grandad is counting on me to grow into a big strong tree.

I escaped poverty by reading and learning how entrepreneurs get their success. Getting out of debt was a struggle it took me years to get out of( I had to many credit cards). Now I invest, started three businesses, mutual funds, live on less, have an emergency fund and save my money. And I can travel more which I enjoy.

YEEEES GOOD FOR YOU SIS, I’m been on my get out debt free journey now for 5 years and I almost there. This pandemic was a blessing and a curse. Since they stopped the student loan payments, I decided I EASNT GONNA STOP and now my smallest loan will be paid off in about a month and I almost done paying off the interest on the large one. Paid off 3 credit cards, down to 2 to pay off, paid off my car, paid off my taxes that I owed and almost debt free. I started a business that I am working on currently and have my 5 months of savings funds.

First I grew up with a poor mindset, didn’t graduate high school but got my G.E.D I had kids out of wedlock ( three children to be exact.). Next, I left their dad and became homeless. After that I lived with friends and family and dragged my kids along. I also had help from a governmentally funded program to help them attend a great school because of my income. To help show them a different mindset as well and gave them a head start and better start than I had as far as school and education. I “googled” help for single mothers in my area and found a program locally that helped us. They: gave us a place to live, helped me learn how to budget, helped me find a house (rental) then it was a requirement to be in school. They matched me with mentors (all college graduates.) After that program ( which lasted 2 years) I kept going to school and just finished. I am now financially stable and looking to buy my first home. If you read this and are in similar circumstances, made choices to take the harder route, grew up in a one parent household, never had good relationship role models and know what it’s like not to have lights, water and other essentials. YOU CAN, you are worthy! Keep grinding ❤️

I was born into poverty and the reason it took me so long to get out is that having bad financial habits was inherited from my parents. I finally learned how wealthy people get there and stay there, and I've slowly gotten out of poverty. I still don't make much money but I am developing the best discipline and financial habits that will allow me to be wealthy one day soon. It's a slow grind at first but I will be financially independent. The skill set I learned was accounting and it's changed my life beyond measure.

When you read articles about financial freedom, you may hear people drone on and on about how they are spending practically nothing so they can retire at a younger age, like 30. Conversely, they may have already achieved financial freedom and are bragging about how frugal they were so they could retire well before the typical retirement age.

  • @Matteo-tg2vc

Planning for retirement, or even financial freedom, is a marathon and not a sprint, as the saying goes. Breaking up your financial independence goals into small chunks can help keep you on track while making the process a bit more manageable and, hopefully, a little less stressful. Even if you are starting small, the important thing is to get started. Investment creates a safe haven for the future, Everyone needs it so you don't go bankrupt when you stop working

My dad dropped out of school in 2nd grade to start working in fields picking crops after his father abandoned his mom, him & his siblings. My mom's family were also field hands. They passed on a tough, strong work ethic to me. I only have a high school diploma but learned about different types of real estate investing. I bought & held on to houses, apartment buildings & farmland. Stocks came after I'd accumulated those assets. I'm already there & going for deca-millionaire status next, & I'm bringing mom & dad with me. Passing this work ethic & knowledge, & how to protect it all, down to my son. I want him to teach these things to his family. If I can do it, anyone can do it. Stay the course, cut expenses, pay off bad debt & don't go back into it! Buy low, improve it & hang onto it if it makes money. Otherwise, cut your losses.

My father is a millionaire. This is his advice: 1. Create monetary value for others by doing what you are good at(For my Dad teaching and consulting). 2. Leverage as much of it as you can in order to do so. Most of you who work have probably done the first, it is the second part that is tricky. Figure out how to do the second and you will be rich. It depends on your ability to not be replaced by someone else. This is why Amazon and Walmart employees cannot demand higher wages. Example: Facebook hires nearly 50,000 people, and it made 25 billion in profit in the previous 4 quarters, meaning on average every employee helped generate 500,000 in surplus. If you are an American/European working in a successful company and earn say $50K, make your employer know how you are contributing to their company's success. If you are generating 200K in value that can't be done by someone else, you can leverage that into getting a raise.

I came to the US from Mexico in 1966 at the age of three. In Tijuana Mexico, we lived in a house without running water, we had an outhouse, and power was cut off after 6pm. In August of 66 our paperwork came through and we crossed the border in the US. My parents got us, a family of 5, an apartment in Boyle Heights, by 1969, my very hard working auto mechanic father bought us a house, a duplex, in South Central Los Angeles. Our house and our cars were vandalized, but some very nice neighbors helped us weather the discrimination. I stacked pizza boxes, had paper route and waited tables all before I turned 18. My parents put us in Catholic School, buy I was an awful student and never went to college. Things went slowly, but I always had an urge to live a certain way. NOT HAVING MONEY SUCKED!!!!. By 25 I had worked my way into a career as an accountant, by my late 20s I had a controllership. By my early 30s I had taken two companies public. By my late 30s I owned real estate in 5 states. My father told me a story about when he was a kid and my grandfather took him to a field and said, "Look around. You can go ANYWHERE. But if you are dishonest in that direction, you can't go back there and if you keep being dishonest, you will quickly burn all your bridges." I have built a good strong network. I had TONS of mentors along the way. I have investments and liquid cash. I earned ALL OF IT!!!!

Ready? Already there! Keep every receipt and write down every purchase to the penny. When my husband and I were first married, we did this and were shocked to find how much we spent on booze. We limited ourselves to one inexpensive bottle of wine per week, and made sure we enjoyed that bottle. This, along with the other steps mentioned in the video, saved us enough for a down payment for a house. We haven't been apartment dwellers for over 30 years. We've owned three homes, the second two of which were paid for with cash. These steps work!

I escaped poverty by working hard. I was working overtime to compensate for lack of skills, and it paid off eventually. As soon as I moved into the middle class, I stopped working hard and focused on honing my skills. 6 months of skill building and living below my means enabled me to get to the next level. Now my life is comfortable and I’m making more than what I need. But I haven’t come this far to come this far. The hustle is still on...

  • @LDSW
    @LDSW2 жыл бұрын

Yes...escaping poverty can be done. My experience decades ago as a 14-year-old AA mother with a deaf child in a major urban environment: 1. Finish high school. Almost goofed up there, but got it done a year late. 2. Make sure to avoid the unsavory elements in your environment -- esp. drugs, anti-social behavior and not associating with people who prefer to nest in that underworld. There are plenty out there to distract you from traveling the right path through life. 3. Look for positive models and situations for where you want to be in life. During the 1970s, I estimated my worth to be more based on my self-learning. Recruiters during that era tried to browbeat me to accept less, but I skipped the offers. That situation left me wanting to find a job in my late teens. So, I sucked it up and started my clerical career as a "Kelly Girl," learning office etiquette and skills along the way. I parlayed my learning to type on a manual typewriter in my high school typing class and kept up with practicing my typing on that Smith Corona typewriter that my father had around the house. The biggest break was becoming exposed to information technology and computers during the mainframe days. On a job that I worked in 1979, a manager there even introduced me to computer programming and data management on a minicomputer -- before the desktop PCs and laptops of today. During the late 1980s, I ended up parlaying this experience and exposure to computers by increasing my income over my peers (yes...they were PO'd when they found out that I had asked for and received my asking salary). I was later a special project as a system administrator for a litigation support system (I was working at a major law firm at that time). 4. Turn your hobbies and pastimes into money-making ventures. My neighborhood friend and I started doing this during the mid-1960s (about 11 years old by then during the 1960s), with both of us using making and selling potholders that we got for Christmas. We sold our potholders for 25 cents when everyone back in the day could buy potholders for only 10 cents at the discount stores. I also ran errands to do grocery shopping for neighbors (ranging from 25 to 50 cents a trip during the 1960s), drop off or pick up clothing from the cleaners, and even did coffee runs. I was almost 12 years old by that time. 5. Get educated (if needed) and take charge of your self-learning and training. Moving to the present day, I did not wait for employers to provide training. Instead, I learned by watching, performed tasks that were beyond my job description, and started being informally promoted in my job duties. On one job, I self-learned calligraphy and offered a proposal to my employer back then that I could save the office money by preparing training certificates and charging only $1.00/certificate (this happened during the 1970s when companies charged calligraphy services by the character while I did the entire name for that single charge). The manager in charge of the office gladly bought my supplies for this self-learning and certificate preparation. In the meantime, I kept up typing practice and ended up doing 95 wpm to move to my next job and increase my wages by $8K/year. Looking back, the biggest thing that got me motivated to change my station was changes in the employment environment and how clients paid for their services -- such as changes in billing practices at a law firm when Fortune 500 companies directed law firms to move from the billable hour standard to charging by the job. I decided to also change my career (legal secretary) to get ahead of taking a hit on my then wages (my wages as legal secretary were high enough during one year where I was required to pay Social Security taxes after reaching the salary threshold for that year). The process to get out of the secretarial pool took about three years to land my first salary-based job as a trainer working with law firms, law offices, and law departments within corporations. I could go on and on with many examples about how I thrived, regardless of the obstacles thrown in my way, which included showing up for many interviews only to be told that those jobs were filled. The prospective employers claimed they tried to contact me (BS, since there was no way to contact me with no contact information or job application with contact details, given that these times were my initial visits to those places). Today, I keep up with my self-training and learning and supplemented that by completing collegiate, along with certifications as a project manager and software quality engineer. I first went to community college three years after high school for one semester, before returning to school during the latter part of the 1990s (what got me going was that I wanted to learn database programming and did not know anyone whom I could lean on to learn the ropes). I ended up finishing community college and kept on a roll to finish a BS degree in an IT discipline, and continued to move forward with completing my first MS in database technology, followed by an MBA in this dual master's degree program, followed by a master’s certificate in finance. Now my current salary has nearly reached the mid-six-figure range with my efforts and learning and encouragement along the way. So...this once young AA teenage mother did not relegate herself to that sad poverty cycle and instead became self-efficient, self-learning, and enterprising. Since I love working and achieving success, I may consider keeping on track by doing independent management consulting during my so-called retirement years as I continue working on achieving certification in another discipline.

Ready ! I escaped poverty by working at 18 years old. Although i didn't grew up in a poor family but rather in the middle class, i knew from a very young age that continuing in the middle class will leads to poverty so working at this age is crucial to have a better future. Another important thing is mindset. While working, you will meet only poor people (that's why they are still working;) ) and you need to know and believe that you are not like them, otherwise it's easy to be influenced. Build a driving mindset and protect it from the distractions and always remember the final goal. 😍

I escaped poverty through education. I am from Southeast North Carolina, United States. It is a very poor farming area. I wanted out of that “prison.” The only way out for me was through education. I worked hard in high school to make high grades to get into a good college. I made sure I worked hard in college to get a good job. Of course I had to move out of that area I grew up. It is funny. Today I looked up the salary range of upper class and, to my big surprise my husband and I are upper class. Getting out of poverty takes great determination. It is hard, but it can be done.

Before you made this video I did almost everything until number 10. Each step is difficult and challenging. I was poor and had a lot of traumas to deal with in the process. Thank God if he ever exists that I've improved. I'm still paying debt and I will finally get my architecture degree after 8 years of hard work. I'm almost 30 and when I was a little kid, I've always wanted to become a Doctor or Architect. I can finally say I almost got it. In general, every obstacle is on your mind. You need to want it badly in the first place. I still have a lot to work. I still want to become a youtuber and I'm still facing some of my left over fears lol. Overall I'm thankful for all my challenges and experiences. I see bad experiences as blessings to move forward. I also believe that the moment you decide to change, the universe helps you on your journey. And I want to thank Alux. I found u guys very random and your video on how "15 things rich people do that poor dont" called my attention. Since then I've being a loyal member. And they helped a lot on my journey. My advice for people will be never give up and dont get comfortable. You find pleasure and growth in the unconfortable. I might not be rich yet, but the hunger still there. Remind yourself what do you want to be and never ever give up and help people as you move forward

2 rules if you are poor. First is you should always be reading. If you aren't a good reader then read Harry Potter and work your way up to self help books and books that focus on a vocation you want to go into. The library is free. Second. if an opportunity comes your way, no matter how small it is, absolutely own it. If someone offers you $50 to clean their horse stables, don't grumble, do the absolute best job possible. It will open opportunities for other things for you. I've been doing temp work for a long time and every time I get some crummy job with low pay, I own it and usually get a job offer to stay on permanently. Put your best foot forward with any job not matter how small and it will open doors for you.

Yes getting out of poverty is possible and here’s how I did it besides having implemented many of the lessons covered in this video. There is no better freedom than to embrace and realize today’s riches: health, wealth, and happiness. • I stopped giving my resources to and got out of outdated and religious beliefs • I accepted my current reality at the time was draining and holding me back and I had to be straightforward about it. • I reaccessed my surroundings and kick out old habits (Friends who didn’t have my best interest and were not financially literate).

I agree, getting out of religion was also a game changer for me. Religion teaches you to self-sacrifice, to always put others first and give away your time, money, and energy to helping others. I'm all for helping those who want to improve their situation through education, job training, job placement resources, etc. But giving away your own resources at the expense of making yourself poor too is just not intelligent and does nothing to fix the overall poverty issue. You need to get financially secure yourself before you will have the strength and sustainable resources to help others.

One thing that struck me watching this informative piece, is to stay in generational poverty, you don't have to do a thing; just stick with the same bad financial, mental and behavioural habits you currently have. Those habits will not only keep you poor, but will most likely rub off on your children - as they often learn by example - perpetuating the poverty cycle. Contrastingly, to create wealth that will last generations, takes quite a lot of effort; as your other video on Creating Generational Wealth, confirms.

Yeah ?? Well then- Honestly yu can not place a realistic monetary measure on a strong work ethic !! Its not about doing extra shit people didn't cee, like Yu just a lame punishing ureself for sum reizen, but (making sure the people who matter are aware) doing what it reasonably takes to STEP UP !! Yu get rispek not for never having been in a fucked up situation, but 1st for recognizing it is F'd up, and 2nd doing (not just Sumtn') but the calculated, tried and proven actions to relieve ureself of the shitty and sticky sityashyin !! Also no strange4dechange shit that's like dancing like Travolta in dat flick to get out of quicksand !!

I embraced being a minimalist CEO, outsourced my business, and then moved to the Philippines/Asia, where $1,000 = 50,000 to 100,00, and I live ultra-simple, and happy.
