15 More Lesbian Films That Won't Break Your Heart
Ойын-сауық
More films with happy endings for the sapphic ladies in part of of my series. By the end should have a pretty decent list of films that give us a happy ending for the wlw couples or, at the least a hopeful and uplifting end. No dead lesbians here!

Lovely nostalgic list. “Bound” when released in theaters, had a similar “shock value” as “Desert Hearts” ten years earlier. The movie-going public wasn’t accustomed to lesbians being the main event. The Wachowskis stylish direction made this film a pleasure to watch.
"Bound" has super chemistry between Gershon and Tilly and two of the best lines in any lesbian movie ever. Violet seducing Corky: "Do I make you nervous Corky? ... Thirsty, maybe?" and Caesar (frantically): "What did she do to you?" Violet: "Everything you couldn't." Mic drop!

“What are you doing?” “Isn’t it obvious? I’m trying to seduce you.”
I recomend "Late Bloomers". It is a bit of a unicorn, being a 1996 sappic movie with a happy ending. I always think of it as a mature version of "Two Girls in Love". Its a romcom indie production and its available on Tubi. You can find a nice trailer on KZread.
05:41 "Show Me Love" is a subtitled Swedish film that can also be found under the title "FUCKING ÅMÅL".
"A Date for Mad Mary" - it is Irish and very well made.

Great recommendation. Surprised it doesn't get mention anywhere near enough. WLW content isn't large in it. It's not what the entire film is based on. It's more Mary being released from prison and having to grow up and change her ways. She tries to get a date for her best friends wedding and eventually falls in love with Bisexual Wedding photographer. It's nicely done and both actresses have great chemistry, Tara Lee who plays Jess is really likeable in the part. Someone uploaded the sections with Mary/Jess's sections on KZread. It's a great film on it's own even if it didn't have WLW content in it. Be warned Mary (played excellently by Seana Kerslake) isn't always a very likeable person. She was sent to prison of a good reason and film does delve into it.
Can’t believe that “Portrait of a Lady on Fire” is not in your list😭
Thank you for mentioning But I'm A Cheerleader, I love that movie! Tips: When Night is Falling has a happy ending too, plus it's a pretty great film imo. Fingersmith technically isn't a movie, but it is brilliant and has a happy ending too.❤

I'm contemplating including Fingersmith and Tipping the Velvet as bonus options.
Have you seen the series called "The Rich Man's Daughter"? It's from the Philippines. The leading ladies do an outstanding job and despite many heartaches and disappointments - has a happy ending

Yes, really enjoyed that series! I talked about it briefly on my video about TV Shows with happy endings.
Worth mentioning Me Myself and Her 2015 Italian with subtitles. Good chemistry and enjoyed watching.
Badhaai Do getting the appreciation it rightly deserves
Thank you for your lists. How about "Walk With Me", caught on Tubi.

Thanks, it's on my list!
Badhai Do and Dating Amber were really good movies about pretty much the same topic, I just wish the actual gay couples would have had more screen time, while the movies focus on the fake straight couple and the trouble they get into with their friends and families. The Half of it is one one those movies that end way too early, throughout the movie one hopes the girls will get together and when they finally do the movie ends seconds later, basically viewers have to imagine the happy end, because the movie doesn't show it. You can Live Forever is one of those tapdances trying to keep some kind of balance between the harm religion does and the will to maintain religion, I would have liked it far better if had had a stronger opposition to religion, like a happy end where the girls dump their religion for good and make a point out of becoming happy without. Since you asked for it, not sure if you have had it in one of your lists, at least it isn't in this list, so let me point out the 2003 film "An Unexpected Love".

I seem to remember that the ladies don't end up together in the World Unseen... I should look that up again, perhaps it can go into my 'not unhappy' category.
❤
I'm a big fan of "You Can Live Forever", it's a great film. But would you say it's a happy ending, I think it's a sad one. And the film doesn't help itself by being open ended either. Basically Marike, the Jehovah Witness girl who our main character Jaime falls in love with. Basically choose to stay with her community and ends up having a child (who she names after a town in Italy Jaime wanted to go too) and marries a French Canadian guy. It's clear she's unhappy with her decision and clearly misses Jaime. Is Marike going to do what her mother did and leave her kid behind and run off with Jaime, none of the endings if you think about it are happy ones. Show Me Love a.k.a Fucking Amal (such a better title imo), is such a wonderful film. One of best coming of Age films out there. It had a major following for quite a long time and held a high rating on IMDB (it lower 8 and higher 7's for a few years) but has gone down in recent years to a 7.5. Barely anyone mentions it these days.

I felt that the final shot in the movie suggested they would choose each other - in the same vein as movies like Carol - and that she'd take the baby. Certainly not an unequivocal happy ending, but I thought hopeful. I prob shouldn't have the thumbnail of as those two though, lol. I'll probably change it. Show Me Love is on my list!
Below your mouth is the worst IMO, the rest of the movies mentionned are worth a watch
