Sometimes we learn from experiences, ive had my retirement extension for ten years now and yes things are changed without notice or any rational, so its better to give the IO what they ask for save a lot of stress. I have never had any real problems in all my time here, I have never used an agent, but in your mothers position I am 100% sure I would have used a lawer. Very well done its good to see some good news for genuine retirees at immigration, best wishes to you all.

I agree that you DO need to have enough funds to take care of yourself, no matter where you are. The good news is that you can actually survive quite well on so much less in Thailand. Again, you guys are fun to watch and you are such a good son to your Mom! She is amazing as well.

Definitely worth getting professional help for that first visa. I used an agent in Pattaya, she cost 32000 baht for converting 30 day to 90 day and then getting 12 month extension giving 15 months total. She also went with me to open bank account same day, all included in the 32000. When i said how surprised i was at how quickly things had been done she just smiled and said " In Thailand if you have money everything is possible". She is correct.

Visiting immigration at ChaengWattana is always an exhausting, confusing, frustrating process but I really enjoy going there (I must be mad). I've never been in such a huge building and the markets that they often have on the big open space are amazing. So are the services of the massage/acupuncture centre downstairs that you looked at. I've had a KTB account for 5 years or so but they can never get my mobile banking set up for some reason. Sat with ktb bank staff member in Mae Hong Son few weeks ago for over an hour while she tried unsuccessfully to set me up and she even rang their tech support to no avail. Thalad Thai market that Keisha was talking about is just near where we stay in Rangsit....it's the most enormous fresh food market I've ever seen...definitely worth a visit. Welcome mum to amazing thailand 🇹🇭 ❤

You also have edited it in a way It's a bit like watching a reality-based TV 📺 program. Your Mom looks younger than her age. Question do you hope your kids will eventually come and visit Thailand? With your Mom moving there do you think you and Paige might look into getting your own home? I know you love living with your In-laws because they have plenty of room,you like to travel and they are so sweet.

A key to managing Bangkok is getting a Rabbit debit card and using the BTS as much as you can. The BTS is called the Skytrain because it goes over the traffic . From immigration you could have taxied to Mo Chit BTS station then ridden all the way to Central World. Another means to deal is to not try to take in Bangkok as a whole but just learn a neighborhood and how to travel to areas where you want to go such as Asoke BTS for Terminal 21 with lots of restaurants and much more manageable than Central World which is about the biggest mall in the world. I always get a kick out of Page and her huge smile. The smiling , happy, good hearted personalities of Thai women are not recognized often enough as the greatest thing about Thailand.

So true about the process in the usa on immagration, etc,.., it is more expensive and tons of money and a lot of days of waiting....and waiting...

Hi Chuck. You said about a massage for your mum. Have you thought about the massage hospital in Khon Kaen. Really good it's a proper hospital but just uses massage. I used it 3years ago for a hip issue, really fantastic. It's not too far from the khonkaen ram hospital. 👍

Wow, I did not know that it was possible to get a 90 day non-o and the 12 month extension on the same day. In Chiang Rai you have to wait for 21 business days after applying to convert your tourist visa then go back and get the stamp.

I recommend Icon Siam is luxury shopping mall and then you can buffet dinner cruise Cho Praya it's very cheap about 599 bath / person

I've found the bst way to get around Crazy Town is by the BTS and/or Motorbike Taxi for short distances, or just get a decent motorbike and follow the guys in the numbered orange vest!....55555555......oh yeah not for the faint of heart for those who are afraid of lane splitting.....especially going against traffic but they do it!

That is some mall.......would like to take a browse there. Great work on Cara visa, now to rest and relax* wheeeeeeeeeee*

I love Central World. The chaos of Bangkok is definitely not for everyone. They're expanding the public transit network a huge amount right now. Once those projects all get done it should be a little easier to get around.

A guy in Pattaya, key visa, charges 38000 baht for the whole package, bank account established and 15 mth visa all up. Ymmv.
