It is time for my 15 month carnivore diet update! I will be covering the time period of Jan-Mar 2024 and man, did a lot of stuff happen. I have updated weight, measurements, DEXA scan, CGM data, and I started tracking my ketones in early March so that has been fun.

Great job Jenny!! 👏 I just hit 8 months!! Lost a total of 31lbs within the first 5 months with moderate exercise. I went from 196lbs, to 165lbs and now I'm shredded like I was in my early 20's. I can't image living any other way now. The energy, mental clarity, sound sleeps, the perfect digestion, lack of joint pain, youthful skin has changed everything!! . But I gotta say, out of all the amazing benefits - digestion is the #1 reason I won't drop this diet/lifestyle and why I truly believe this is the proper human diet. No more gas - like none!! No more stomach bubbles or urges to go. No more large BM's or even multiple per day anymore. I can't speak on this enough. I was on keto for years and thought life was good, carnivore has been the ultimate game changer for me.

This video was a huge help for me!!! I have been carnivore since July and in the last 2 months I have had zero energy and leg cramps. I bet I’m having the same issue. I do take vitamin D supplements as well. So I’m going to add some magnesium and potassium. I live in Florida and it’s been 🥵 for awhile couple of months. TY for sharing all your details and information. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Jenny, about six months ago i had plateaued. I was only eating 1200 to 1400 calories. I changed to carb manager and it suggested i eat 1800 calories. Well i couldnt believe it i dropped weight suddenly. 7 lbs in 2 weeks. I believed calorie in calorie out. So this was a huge shock. Then i went carnivore and had a further loss. I was finally at high school weight. Havent been carnivore for long but i see many benefits following that as well. I have a hard time following it when travelling. Just got back from a two week trip and jumping back on

I used a CGM for 2 weeks. The alarm would go off around 2:00 am , my blood sugar was too low in the 60s. I would get up and do the fingerstick glucose test and it would be about 115. The cgm is 15 min behind actual time. The morning gluose would be 106-108. At 11 before My first meal it would be in the 90s. I don't understand the mechanics but I think my blood sugar drops really low in the middle of the night then my body responds by dumping glucose into my bloodstream and bring it up. By my first meal at 11 am the glucose numbers come down and stay normal throughout the day
@JennyMitich
Ай бұрын
Hello! Totally normal, the CGM is testing interstitial fluids instead of blood like a finger stick, so you are correct, it does lag a bit behind. The morning spike you experienced is the dawn effect and it is totally normal. It just your cortisol levels rise to wake you up in the morning and that drives the corresponding rise in glucose :)
Congratulations from Kenya, Jenny. I love your short detailed videos - they inspire me. I'm 7 months in this diet and lost 4kgs, but I'm not particularly looking to lose more weight since I am a fitness buff, so I am maintaining at this point.

Have you tried adding in magnesium &/or potassium yet? I've been eating this way for 3 yrs now, & my needs have changed along the way. I also benefitted from increasing my salt, water & fat intake at various points as well. Exercise was another one for me, had to back off for a time as I wasn't getting in enough food the first few months to fuel myself properly. One final thought, & this one was the hardest for me to do; I needed more sleep for a while. My entire adult life, I'd been getting by w/5-7 hrs a night~ & 7 was rare. Once I allowed myself to get closer to 7-9 hrs a night, I felt SO much better. Just some thoughts =) Way to go on 2 months plus! That's awesome. Hopefully you're experiencing enough other beneits to keep you going.Sam in AZ

Electrolytes, make sure you're getting enough protein, upping the fat a bit can help, make sure you're eating enough, magnesium and potassium, sleep...there are so many things it could be.

I feel for you. Watching my fiancé go through this and it’s sad to watch. However from the outside looking in he is not getting enough fats and refuses to drink LMNT water first thing in the am which helps me feel hydrated. I commend you for sticking with it even when you’re feeling sluggish 💪🏽
Thanks for all your excellent info. I've been on this woe for a month, but I do have around 20 carbs daily, and I was hoping that my hip flexor muscle would have improved. How long does it take to see/feel more healthy? All the best, from England, UK.
@JennyMitich
Ай бұрын
Hello! It takes some time to heal. I say a minimum of 90 days, but for your hip it may take longer. Also though, diet isnt a magic bullet for everything. It definitely lowers inflammation and helps with pain but it might not make it go completely away. I'm assuming youve done stretching, chiropractic, etc?

Thanks for your reply. I'm doing exercises that my GP has arranged for me, which helps. I'll need to be patient. @@JennyMitich
ive noticed that simply lowering the fat intake in grams for a period of time (8 weeks) and i loose fat like insane amounts which makes sense if you deplete your body from food energy it should target the body tissues for energy atleast thats its function
We are finishing our 7th month, can’t imagine another way of beating.

I’m two months in and feel fantastic. I have no cravings for carbs. Reduced one of my blood pressure meds. Lost 6 kg. I have black coffee with butter for breakfast. Two meals a day. My energy is consistent all day. No slumps in the afternoon. I will not go back to eating carbs. This is the best way of eating.

I am about 2 weeks in, about 4 days ago I have the tingling/numbness on my left side, face, arm, leg, why is this happening? Initially I went to the ER to make sure I'm not having a stroke. They ran all the tests also the CT scan. Didn't find anything wrong with me. Could someone please share?

Hello! No idea, I would suggest increasing your electrolytes for sure.
Do NOT supplement with vitamin D which is actually a hormone by the way, as per the Secosteroid Hormone D group.
How much money is a dexa scan? I know that insurance only covers it for certain age groups with appropriate diagnosis. And Medicare will cover it under estrogen deficiency but not osteopenia. So. How much out of pocket?
@JennyMitich
Ай бұрын
Hello! I pay anywhere between $60-$150 per scan. These are different than the DEXAs used to diagnose osteoporosis. I put a link to DEXAs website so you can find one near you and check out the pricing in your area.
