15 Lighthouses in Terrifying locations

Ойын-сауық

Being a lighthouse keeper is a lonely profession. You spend days, weeks, or even months in isolation and are subjected to some pretty tough conditions. Sure, the view may be nice, but the sea breeze whips at your skin like ice and the salt in the air can do a number on your lips, chapping them into oblivion. And one wrong step during a bad storm, and you’re fish food. Luckily, though, that last part doesn’t happen all that often, but that doesn’t mean that these lighthouses exist in some pretty precarious positions. So join us for today’s video, where we countdown the top 15 lighthouses in terrifying locations!

How on earth did they build these beautiful structures esp in those treacherous waters?? Kudos to those brave souls.....

During the calmer seasons and structures on European ones I know begin with the rock itself being shaped by blasting etc forming base and wall. Then huge granite? block is used. Work was done only on calm days.

Great production, thank you. No matter which direction I set off on a cruise, the Fastnet is always in sight. In only the last year or two, the Fastnet light has been changed from a rotary sweeping light; think of the sweeping loom of light in the night that that the lantern had emitted for a century and a half or more, only to be replaced by the soulless flash of an LED light. All that said, a wonderful presentation.

Interesting video of different lighthouses, they are very pretty. And those rocks are beautiful in the middle of the ocean! I bet there are beautiful sunsets and sunrises in these places where the lighthouses are. I liked this video, it is very informative. 👍

One of mans great engineering feats, giving mariners guidance from the sea, so many ships were wrecked back in the day. Cool show. Thank you.

Nice work. I sail Long Island Sound and frequently sail past Execution Rock for no other reason but to take in its beauty and history. Its fantastic.

I have always been amazed that men were able to construct a lighthouse in those locations under the most dangerous of locations. Just accessing those locations much less transporting the materials to construct the edifice, Is absolutely mind-boggling. Not to mention that many were built at a time in history, many times hundreds of years before the use of helicopters was not available.

Lighthouse in the most terryfying location is in Brazil's Snake Island. Why there is a lighthouse in that dangerous place what is full of deadly poisonous snakes? 🌏🌍🌎🌃🌅🌊🏝🗼🐍😮

Isn't one of the reasons that they build lighthouses in a location is because the location is terrible? You don't need a lighthouse at a resort in the Bahamas.

The lighthouse is for rocks or mountains many times formed underwater by volcanoes. Many islands are underwater volcanoes or broken apart from land masses. I don't know which the Bahamas are, something I've never looked into. Japanese island is broken off land mass while Hawaii is volcanic land. Africa is also having a land mass breaking off. They've already named it, plus the water btwn it & Africa. I'm sure they're planning land water & planting & all of that as well. Which would you choose, the new island or stay on the solid continent? 🙀😺

The lighthouse on snake island should be placed at #1 due to hundreds of venomous snakes surrounding the island one bit & it will be your last visit.
