$15 Harbor Freight Dent Puller, Does it work??
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Today we put to the test a $15 dent puller kit from Harbor Freight to see how well it works. The dent is in a pretty challenging removal spot on the corner of the roof on my Tacoma so this will be a true test to the tool. Hope you enjoy!

I have the same exact dent, thanks looks easy im going for it. Thanks
Nice job. Thx for sharing your knowledge!
Professionally done video 👍
The white stick looking thing is your tap down. Lightly tap around the dent to relieve the rest of the pressure. And pull again.

HF puller works pretty good on medium to large dents. Had very little luck with hail damage, but besides that it works good. I scored my tabs with a razor before use though. It helps.
There's that tapdown tool as well. Im sure that's fine but if it was a more noticeable spot it'd be worth tapping around the ridge at least.
Good warts & all video got a few dents that I will try to remove thanks to you. I have no idea if it would work but think I will put a washer between the knob and the frame, thinking that the resistance will be reduced and make turning the knob easier as the washer will turn as it gets tightened down. Great vid 👍👍👍👍
Works very well. Good tip as well. Great job..
well without using professional strength glue, if you would have heated your panel a bit, while under pressure you could have tappen the highs and it would have came out easier
When you start figuring out how to get really really good adhesion with tabs like these - examples being warming them lightly with a torch first.. - you can start exerting pretty crazy pressures via them - pulls into the hundreds of kilos. However what will happen then is the steel shaft will tear out of the plastic tab as you get better at sorting adhesion issues.. That's using a pulling tower not the little jig the tabs come with. So with that being said, if you are not getting a pretty solid pull with these & the little jig, it's your adhesion technique that you need to sort, because the tabs will take some pretty hefty pulls waay beyond what the kit is designed for. TLDR - sort adhesion issues & these pull pretty well.
I was thinking about trying this for the hail damage on my hood but not now. It would probably take me a year to do.

He was used the wrong glue. White is a hobbie glue. He Needed the stronger yellow glue 💛 for cars 🚗
it doesn't get better than that when you have a crease on a curve! You would have to use some bondo and sand and paint. You probably wont see it unless you're to the side with the light hitting it just right. I'm impressed that it lifted the crease as much as it did! Good move roughing up the plastic for the hot glue to stick better!
Use 91% alcohol to release the hot glue
Im curious as to what put that dent there as thats a strong support for the top but it didnt chip the paint.
My HF deny puller broke the first time I tried it. Took it back, no refund, but got another because it was so cheap. It broke also, gave up in that idea. Maybe I just got into a bad batch, it seems a little hit and miss.
Some one very stupid slammmed their trucks door on my 17 altima pearl white. I will try this and thanks for the vid
I've got about an inch long linear dent with a shallow crease in the middle, at the bottom edge of a hatchback door and perpendicular to the bottom. The paint isn't damaged. It's not noticeable from a distance and probably not worth going to a body shop. But it is bugging me.

That’s similar to the dent I had. Figured for $15 it was worth trying to fix it myself but not bad enough to go to a shop.
It wouldve been more effective if you wouldve knocked down the crowns of the dent first because you made it look a lot harder than it really is 🤷♂️ but if youre a beginner then its ok
Here is the deal..... this tool works to a degree.....With that said, I have had two dents that I worked on that I was just not happy with. So....I have a local Pro Dent repair place in my hometown. Both times I have brought dents in for repair, they said I "over pulled" the dent....made it worse.....lol. I mean, it looked better to me, but, the pro's said I jacked it up. So....... beware
Great video! How do you know what size tab to use?

I just estimated off of what looked like would fit the dent best.
That was a good review, you took your time to see it through.
Thanks. But curious as to how the heck did you get a dent up there? Jc
Currently at the 40 second mark and I’m predicting that the framing bar breaks and/or the edge doesn’t move.
I have an odd shaped indentation left by a license plate screw on my plastic rear bumper after a slight rear end. Would it work?

I tried this tool or a very similar one anyway.poss from amazon.not only was the glue crap.but the tool bent then snapped in half.and to add insult to injury.the tool made 2 more dents where the feet were.even thought I made sure they were on a stronger section of the pannel.you would be better of buying a slide hammer with bonding tips

I agree, I had the same misfortune, just few days ago I bought the HF dent removal kit and followed all instructions to the t, the tools snapped right in the middle. Needless to say, I returned it the same day. You get what you pay for.
Do you think it would work for small hail damage dents?

Would this work on pulling a gold ball sized dent on an aluminum garage?

Does this kit work on dents on roof rails?
The crossbar on mine bent and cracked in the middle
I would rather pay $15.00 for this tool , than pay $150.00 for a Body Man .
I'd recommend not rubbing your oily finger over where you are getting ready to apply glue each time.
mine broke after 5 uses. the push tab broke
Your glue is better than mine!!! Mine don’t stick that good.

Make sure you let it sit for a while before pulling the dent out.
I can totally see where the pads were pressing down. 😢
i have one but it dont work
Use a heat gun first..won't hurt the paint
This kit while good for the money will not fix smaller dents near edges of wheels or on double walled metal it is primarily for thin sheet metal in the middle of a large area otherwise the glue will not hold you'd be better of using gorilla glue letting it set and then dealing with getting that off the hot glue is very weak even after it sits a while
You should have really went at it with different camera angles definitely could not see the dent before or after
Alcohol releases the hot glue.
For $15 you can't complain
Is it possible to "over pull" the dent?

Harbor freight sells a complete dent remover kit with tap tools in case you over pull. Sometimes you might need to purposely over pull to tap things back down so it ends up looking perfect. Takes a lot of work and patience.
The acetone is the release agent to remove the glue tab.

Does it say anything about removing dents and cellulite dimples from my exes fat ass? If so i thought it would make a great christmas gift and show her i have no bad feelings toward he.
Shite
This is some BS
“Comes out perfect in the end” 😂🤣. Literally non of the deep parts of the dent came out and you created crowns on both sides of the dent. This is a trash product and pdr is an art performed by professionals with years and years of service who spend tens of thousands of dollars on tools. Do not buy this garbage. Just spend the extra money and find a 5 star Google rated pdr company in your area.

Dude it’s an old pick up truck. If it was a valuable car that is losing value from being dented sure. It’s not cost effective to hire a PDR Pro for this job. The OP accomplished what he set out to do.
