We live in years where there should be no limitation and we can choose the options we want. Let's say I'm taking the scooter to visit the mall. Visiting the mall takes about 2-3 hours. What I do ? Do I try to walk the scooter through the mall, or visit the mall without extra weight? What option do I have to leave the scooter without someone stealing? And without its binding being restrictive, like how it is on a bicycle, to can chain it at different distances from a place. Binding can be the place where bikes are attached, may be a lower or taller fence, may be a thinner or thicker pylon. - also add a solar pannel charger will be good to charge battery until I come back from the mall visit Then other utilities that should not miss out on any other scooter are: - Phone charging - 1. touch screen with speed information, km spent in this session and total, percentage of battery charge, clock, eventually outside degrees 2. change touch screen, with onother one, a more complex touch screen, that contain those the above and also has GPS - The ability to catch the light up or down (I do not appreciate that the light is at the bottom of the scooter. Upper visibility is better for those in traffic at night or we are interested in like the others on the opposite side, to see us, so they can avoid us). - Upgrade (like electronic speed limitation aproximatively as our choice, or speed limitation, especially for scooters that can reach speeds above 60-70 km/h, and other different upgrades...) Come on... two weeks more and we are in the years 2019. Let's use the technologies of these years. Or maybe those who make these electric scooters are old-fashioned old men born before the year 2000?

i think ill stick with my $900 regular 50cc scooter that i only put $2 in the tank and get OVER 70 miles from that,MOST of these electric scooters are getting LOWER mileage than the traditional ones, but for a way higher price point. But they are on the right path going electric, i dont know too many sci-fi movies with gas stations :) nice job with the video as usual

I have a motorcycle and I'm really interested in electric scooters. I had a Honda scooter at one point as well. The big draw back for me on gasoline is the maintenance costs. I'm paying $300 for a tune up on my motorcycle and it's not ideal. Would love something to commute to work on while avoiding high maintenance costs.

steph g they have slick unique designs, however for the price. They are all trash! I have 4 electric scooters 3 are 1600watt Moto tec and the 4th is 2000watt Moto tec. I will blow pass more than half of the scooters shown here. I paid 1150 for each of the 1600watts and 1600.00 for the 2000watt I love them. I ride them everyday. I ride them hard, I ride like I'm a Moto cross Rider or something, the scooters they displayed are wack for the prices.

See also Ubco e moped from New Zealand. These are all potentially great for city driving speeds and should sell well. I hope they can still hold city speeds on a hill though. I owned a 1500 watt e scooter about 10 years ago. It was great on the flat but it couldn't tackle hills. Hills are the acid test for e bikes I think (unless you intend only to ride on the flat). Great video. Thanks.

False, batteries alone can cost $1000. Total raw materials is not a basis on which to judge the price. These are not made in back yards, they require factories, skilled labor and engineering.

You know these scooter companies make these Ads, which I am not denying the coolness of the products. But they use tiny half sized models riding these things. Now I am no marketing expert but, shouldn't there be normal to plus-sized people modeling the tough/ruggedness of their scooter? I don't know... I feel like that would be a better selling point then having the bike practically being driven autonomously hahaha.

Well, here's the problem. Most of these are limited to 28mph or less. In my mind those are toys. I mean I can make a diy e-bike that's lighter, faster, and has more range for easily less than 1/4th the cost. Next, only 3 of these are available in the USA, only one of which can exceed 28mph. So the Tarrot is the only option left and with a top speed of 38mph is barely acceptable. Seems like the designers and engineers forgot that 90% of the major thoroughfares have 35-40mph speed limits which also are regularly exceeded by motor vehicles. 5 to 10 mph over the limit is normal where I live so I figure I need a scooter that will go 50 mph to be safe. Lastly the uJet that surprisingly goes 45 mph but not available in USA cost more than an entry level Zero motorcycle! So bottom line all of these are way to much money for far to little performance.

The video was interesting to see what is available. I am not in the market for electric due to low range, hours for recharge and excessive price. One recommendation for the future. From what I was able to see, the rechargers all pugged into european outlets (the plugs are not compatable in the US) and that would make them 220 volts (not generally available in the US). I think it would have been a much needed piece of information to anyone interested in this type of vehicle if there was a US plug/110 volt charging option.

Swapping batteries at go stations is a bad idea: there will never be enough stations, and for it to be worthwhile for the retailer, would have to be expensive. It's better to focus on batteries that have faster recharge times (ie: 80% in 5 minutes)

Too bad some of these moped like scooters have strict regulations where I live. You need insurance, registration, windshield mount, mva tags, and Drivers License.

**** Sir, I have a question. Is it possible to charge a battery with alternator while the scooter is running? Like Petrol and Diesel cars. Maybe Japan can come up with a way to do it. *****

+ishwar rajput - Thanks for your interested idea and question. I think it doesn´t work, if you take electricity out, and charge in the same time. But if you have TWO batteries on board. You can drive one, and charge the second one. and switch the connections, if needed. (Sorry, I don´t know if ever built this. But looks interested, to try it.) I don´t know, how much it would charge, during driving. You must build special alternators. Who makes 36 or 48 volts - depends on your batteries. But if you charge two batteries at home, put both in your scooter, you will have a range of 100 miles and more. Do you really need more range per day ? Or do you make a break on tour, for relaxing, while you recharge your batteries. Maybe in your area, there is not always electric power for charging ?

No, this can never work, it is suggesting a form of perpetual motion, a scientific impossibility. Most of the energy would be wasted in your idea and total range would be cut by at least 65% just to put a small charge on a second battery that would only take you two kilometers at most.
