Likewise metalheads are nearly as varied as the music...from tattooed, pierced, funny-hairstyled folks that buy all their clothes from Hot Topic, to people that wear suits and work in offices.

Metalheads are actually some of the most accepting people I've ever come across. The amount of love I've received as a black guy whenever I came across a group of metal heads listening to a band I liked and said "hey is that such n such? I love those guys! The so and so album is my favorite." Its part of the reason I love being a metalhead.

love the mention of the misconception of the way metalheads dress. One of my favorite activities to kick off my morning back in high school was to blast metal with my car windows down in the school parking lot because everyone look confused when I got out of my subaru with my designer handbags and shoes, straightened blonde hair, pearls, and brightly colored clothing. I even had a monogram sticker on my back windshield. I was the exact opposite of what people expected and their expressions were entertaining AF. I did the same thing in college while wearing my sorority block letter sweatshirts and pearls. we are everywhere, we are everyone, and we like what we like. get over it.

Disturbed is more hard rock to me. Their most metal songs were in the beginning albums like “Down with the Sickness”. But over time, they have gotten lighter.

The misconception that metal makes people aggressive. It actually makes me really placid after listening to an album or two. It's therapeutic, honestly.

A good song can pump me up, but I'm usually just vibing and quietly doing whatever mundane task I happen to be on while listening to metal

I have a theory: Metal Heads are such nice people because we channel our frustrations through our music (listening or playing), while other people are much more aggressive, frustrated and not so nice, because they listen to that other crap 🤣🔥🤘

I saved a 90 lbs. Girl from a mosh pit! It was a Korn show, the pit got out of hand for her and she was getting knocked around badly, so I wrapped my arms around her, to take the punishment from the pit, and carried her outta the pit. She thanked me then I returned to the pit for fun!

@@itsinugami Can't say I would know that as I've never played it. I've mostly just been listening to JRPG battle music like Fire Emblem, Kingdom Hearts, and MegaTen/Persona (the last one is all the same series but most people know what Persona is).

I wasn't into metal a few years ago, now I cant stop listening to Megadeth, and even my friends still say I'm the most friendly laid-back person they've ever met. Music has nothing to do with the way you look sound or even do things. Just because the music you listen to may sound like it came from the depths of hell doesn't mean your personality did.

Yeah, I do, but metal, like prog, or symphonic or iven in death zone, is not only brutal, it can be so noanced and sofisticated. I also like jazz, it's full of creativity, but in an emotional point of view, classical music and metal/hardcore are the most expressive genres in the world, imo.

It’s usually overlooked because people (myself included in the past) confuse it with Drone metal, such as Sunn O))) and skip it because Drone Metal lacks... things happening in the songs. I only got into Doom Metal a couple years ago after I found out Doom Metal is totally different from Drone Metal.

I'm a massage therapist so I have to listen to the same relaxing music day in and day out. I also have to deal with people daily, sometimes the worst people. People often think because of my job I only listen to soft pop, the relaxing stuff and maybe lofi? Nah fam, if only you knew-

When I first started listening to metal, I thought I'd never like the guttural vocals and death growls; however, over the years they grew on me and I started listening to them a lot. It was sometime after this that I first heard Evisceration Plague by Cannibal Corpse, and my first thought was "This is so easy to listen to, I almost think I could fall asleep to it". Then my brain went "whoa, what the hell?"

Yeah I know late to comment. I’ve been working on death growls for about 3 years and I can get through maybe one Amon Amarth song. Favorite of course being Twilight of the Thunder God. I digress. I love most metal. So I guess I can say I don’t hate 99% of it.

I bonded with a co-worker over talking metal and rock music. We found each other in the bullshit corporate world and thrived.

Arch Enemy exists... So does Within Temptation, Sirenia, Epica, Nightwish, Sleeping Romance, Beyond the Black, Crystal Viper, The Dark Element, Lacuna Coil, Halestorm, Tarja, Shadowside, Scarlet Dorne, Walk in Darkness, Babymetal, Band Maids, Delain, Metalite, ...... And he went on talking for the next 3 days, that man did. Many of those who witnessed it desperately clawed their ears off to escape it. But, he never did stop until he had listed every single band. He never stopped. Some say they can still hear him listing them off today.

Lol, the most fair stereotype is the fact we are huge cat lovers, almost all the fellow metalheads i've know including myself, love cats.

People who care about “posers” are the most annoying people in the metal community or any community just enjoy the music you like bro who gives af lol I like different types of music if someone calls me a poser for liking different music other than metal I don’t need them in my life😂 there’s always this dude at metal shows that’s like “poser” like those people are the biggest posers out there
