More impressive than sinking each one, is how he set himself up flawlessly for the next shot every time.

He is basically setting up 2 balls with every shot. One in the hole, one for the next shot.

Yeah, not quite. He had more than few get away from him and had to improvise. The reason they are set in the right angle order is to simply move a few inches after each shot, direct behind the next ball in line.

Mccloy: But that's what this is all about, the position of the cue ball. It's very good but not "flawless" at all.

Earl Heisler, one of the best one-pocket players ever, used to advise aspiring players to do this exercise, which we unofficially dubbed "Heisler's Corner," if they were serious about learning to play one-pocket. As he said, "If you can consistently run this, you're ready to play one-pocket!"

Great Britain & Ireland are dominated by 'Snooker'. Billiards / 8-ball table pool halls are not the norm on the High Street. I was taken to the Royal Irish Yacht Club in Dun Laoghaire a generation ago for drinks after we went sailing. I went into the 'Billiard Room. It was a Snooker table! Even in Ireland . . .

Awesome! Fifty years ago I met Nick Varner in Canton Ohio, in the poolroom at HOF Bowling/Billiards on US Rte 62. He was warming up for a money game later. We played a game of striaght pool, he ran 62 balls! He showed me this practice routine but I never made it with all 15 balls like this guy!! Wouldn't want to play in a money game with him!!
