15 and 16-year-olds face felony charges after viral video of boaters dumping trash in Florida
Two teens are facing felony charges after a viral video showing boaters dumping trash in the ocean off Boca Raton sparked outrage, officials said Friday.
The viral video, which was posted on the Instagram account Wavy Boats, shows 10 people onboard the boat traveling out of Boca Inlet on Sunday. Two people are seen emptying large garbage cans full of trash and bottles into the ocean before heading back to the Boca Bash, an unsanctioned boating party, according to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials.

So, you can be less responsible because flying up in the air is much more complex than driving a boat? But I would say complexity isn't the issue it's being responsible because driving a boat is like driving a car, ....you shouldn't speed, you have to yield for right of way, wreckless driving applies to boat and auto, and you do need a license to drive a boat in Florida. As to your helicopter comparison, I'd say driving a boat is more like operating a helicopter because you need to have navigation skills, read a compass, weather is critical, survival skills, etc. How's that?

So a kid who throws trash out of a boat should forever lose their right to vote and lose their ability to get a passport? That is what happens to adults with felonies. It seems like a totally reasonable punishment unlike nonsense like making them clean up the ocean, pay fines and do other types of community service.
Everyone on that boat should also be held accountable. For the parent that stated his son was a minor and had no comment, this is exactly why your son is such an idiot. No accountability for his actions.
Your child being a minor and you having no comment for his behavior, basically sums it up.

Both teens and their parents should be held accountable! Their parent statements prove that these parents have never taught their children not to litter or trash or oceans. To all parents, that’s your job. I raise both my boys on boats. We not only taught them to throw away the trash in a trashcan once we got back to land, but we also would pick up other peoples trash on oceans and lakes. My sons are there 30s and they’re both into the boating industry. and they still pick up peoples trash. Come on parents raise your kids, right! Teach them how to be responsible and put their trash and trash cans. Pretty simple thing to teach your children!
They sacrificed the youngest among them thinking they would get leniency. Honestly not surprised. Every passenger aboard should be charged...

Charge rich people money, yeah, that’ll fixm genius. These kids need to do a lifetime of trash pick up. Use your brain.
They learned that behavior. It’s so good to see trash dampers held accountable. I live in the country and people use our land to dump trash often. It’s infuriating.
The other folks on the boat, including the person piloting it, should also face charges. They stood by while it happened, and did nothing to try and discourage the action.
Bad parents who have raised bad kids. These spoiled brats should be charged for harming the ocean and its marine wildlife.

This is ridiculous, &the entire BS sentiment that’s been going around too often lately of “reee kids did something wrong, it’s obviously the parents fault!” needs to stop. Has everyone seriously forgot the dumb things they did growing or at least people they know of from school that did dumb stuff, but had good parents? I know I was a dumb kid that had good parents but still did things behind their backs. Did I ever do this exactly? Nope, didn’t have a boat. Certainly did plenty of stupid things with many of other people though in high school. That’s part of growing up, making stupid mistakes, dealing with the outcome, &learning from them. Does every kid who does something wrong have good parents? Obviously not, but to go&say it’s the parents fault every damn time something is in the media is ridiculous. If our parents are to blame for everything we’ve ever done, then I got a feelings that this world is filled with horrible people, &those of us who go on to have kids will also be the same kind of horrible. My son’s 2, so I think I’m mostly safe at the moment besides when he gets cranky from refusing his nap, but boy, in several years or so I’ll be Charles Manson from this sort of sentiment.

"A minor child". Such an odd choice of words, I see where the kid gets his brains from.
When I was a kid, my father told us never to worry about getting in trouble with the police; it was no big deal. We were not in trouble until we got home. We thought a lot about that.
