I love how Thom doesn’t give a f*** about the price, “im a breeder and a biologist” dude is tough.
One thing I noticed from the tanks is how clean everything is. I worked in a fish shop and I know the amount of hours it takes to keep tanks clean. Really a testament to how well they're doing as a company that they're able to keep employees on hand to prioritise cleaning

I have been watching a lot of coral farm videos located in America. But by watching all of your Europe trip series, I can say it is a whole another level there and not many people knew about it. Thanks George for this great information.

Spot on mate! Couldn’t agree more 👌
My original career track was marine biology and my older brother introduced me into the saltwater hobby many years ago. I knew they had advanced to breeding clownfish and certain damselfish in captivity a while back. I’m also aware the spawn of many reef fish (angelfish, butterflyfish, tangs, etc) go through a nearly microscopic larval phase. I’d like to know how they’re able to supply them with the exact planktonic food sources and replicate other very specific ocean conditions these fry require to mature into the recognizable juveniles we are familiar with seeing. The hobby has advanced lightyears since it’s inception in the early 1970s (in the US) and I’m very glad to know they’re now breeding exotic coral fish in captivity. It’s the most sustainable way to maintain wild populations and have healthier fish for hobbyists going forward. 👍🏻
I really just got click baited. I clicked on here because of the thumbnail of the frilled shark. I expected to see a frilled shark here....

dejong is amazing, its a shame they only do wholesale or to public institutions. also, in my opinion the royal gramma looks way nicer than the yellow one lmfao
Living in Belgium and seen De Jong on aquarium conventions it it pretty amezing to have a look at their facility. know that they are big is one thing. Seeing it is something else
I love how much attention you're bringing to coral! I really enjoyed your videos highlighting the Florida corals. Do you think you'll return to that?
At 16:00, to add to his fathers point, the fish they take are also kept alive and cuktivated, versus consumption fish, which are taken completely out of the ecosystem
Not me being so excited he was once in my country 🥲
Glad someone finally says 'Aquaria'
Bro I remember when this man was graduating college and had his clown fish and took them on stage it was so cool

the technology that they use are incredible... love it... every department have their own responsibility :)
If ur form the Netherlands give a like!!❤
Oh man finally wait is over . We got your video notification after a gap
The aquarium industry/hobby has to come up with another environmental counterpoint besides the "well we only take a fraction compared to consumption" one. Whataboutism isn't an actual argument and I hate to see it all the time, especially from this company, that's clearly spending a good chunk of change on captive breeding.
This was a fun watch. Though I’m pretty sure it’s the wrong title and thumbnail lol
I will take a klayi basslet, dejongi basslet and interruptus angel and be on my way 😊
Absolutely the way to go, what a facility, absolutely 💯% awesomeness. ✔️👍👏

This was a fantastic video and it is truly wonderful to see the level of conservationism this company is contributing to the ecology of our planet. I will say though that the video didn’t quell my curiosity about “15 Ancient Creatures That Are Still Alive” and the promo photo that comes up when choosing this video. Would love to know what, if it’s real, the “creature” in that photo is.
Brilliant video thanks for sharing and looking forward to seeing more like this. ❤
You watch swamp stories!? Cause that beat selection tho 😅😂
This is the best aquarist channel on KZread, no doubt about that. Hey George, have you heard of a game called Megaquarium? It's a really fun, realistic game about building an aquarium empire. I'd give it a go, that is if you haven't already. I'd bet my bottom dollar you would get a few kicks from it

I just hate how most marine fish can’t breed in captivity and that most have been stolen or fishnapped, from their home in the ocean 😢 to be kept in a glass prison. I only learned this recently, I had no clue. I understand their survival rate and ease of getting a meal is better, but they are still not where they are supposed to be, just feels wrong. I’m a freshwater keeper, and I know that all of mine were bred in captivity, which feels ethically better. This place obviously is fantastic though, and probably care for these fish better than most parents care for their human children. I do love that they are breeding as many as they can successfully in captivity more and more. It’s great to hear that they understand the concern of removing fish from the ocean and they obviously do it as ethically as possible, as opposed to how the illegal trade basically poisons the fish so they are easier to catch. I guess their motivation is the love for the ocean creatures, over the profit that can be made. I’m more sad for the ones sold in stores to people who barely keep them alive, let alone in the best conditions. Thanks for showing us that some places are trying to improve the hobby with breeding programs, using real biologists and other marine professionals, what an interesting place to work.
That is crazy there selling full on sharks?! Btw youre putting good effort in your vids !
Really nice tour
Unbelievable best video yet!
Always ❤your stuff🐟
This show is so awesome 👌 👏 👍 😍 💖 😎 👌 👏
I wonder, how does catching a deeper water fish effect it when moving it to an aquarium?
@lindawithsharks
7 ай бұрын
Usually they are kept in a net and bucket type setup tied to a rope and slowly brought up to the surface over time to make sure they don't have problems with the pressure change and minimizing problems with their swimbladder if I'm correct.
George, with respect, these can't ALL be the largest indoor aquariums.

they cant take endangered species. and they take them to breed them so they dont have to catch any more from the wild.

@lindawithsharks

Depends on the shark. For big sharks we actually use big transport tubs if needed. But usually if sharks get sold we use the custom build truck that is basically a running aquarium on wheels. It's like a big swimming pool but in a truck. When they arrive they come in in crates or tubs depending on their size aswell. We want them to be transported safely. So if something arrives in a too small transport bin we complain to the company and tell them to use bigger ones next time. We want the animals to be able to stretch completely and easily make turns without hitting their noses or fins. We even have 5meter bags for bigger sharks if we need to send them in a crate instead of the plastic or carbon fiber tubs. If you look at the section with the blue tubs. Those are actually transport tubs converted to holding tanks
My grand parents are 152 and 160 years old
Wild caught fish tend to have stronger genetics than captive bred fish that have been line bred and selectively bred for generations. I suspect that the conditions that fish are bred and raised in on fish farms are not ideal. They are crowded and in some places are given hormones in order to stimulate them to breed.
😮 Amazing 😍🐟🐠🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Mr beast could buy them tbh
