I can't belive how much power these Supras can put down , I mean a inline 6 with stock trans WOW 😊, these 2JZ engines and v160/v161 trans are bulletproof, no wonder supras are so expensive these days . Every year Supras are getting faster.

Something tells me he had a problem with his linkage instead of a transmission failure.. Its not that 1600hp wont rip a tranny apart (thats what he said).. It looks like they were hooking up somehow, so that Getrag could break that way. From my limited car experience, it seems like cars usually break the gear that they were using instead of the whole set of gears, BUT I will admit that I dont know a ton about the technicalities.

I would say 500 to 750 is good. It would be alot of fun especially with the single turbo conversion in a supra. Anything other than hat is going to be unreliable id say.

The problem with 1600 hp supra is that its only pushing that in close to 1000 RPM range not ideal or good more like a show car. it take ages to spool and as soon it does it spins the tiers through its small power range. 1000 HP is more like the limit for much higher RPM range for usable power.

I wonder if these guys are running built vr160 transmissions? I know those things in stock form can handle a good bit of power i doubt 1600 though lol

From the great SW (streetking owner of multiple 1000+whp builds) years ago he stated "if you cant put the power down, 500hp VW is gonna outrun u". WORDS TO RACE BY. Kinda explains why he raced 1300-1600whp supras for years then went AWD lambo and never looked back. Sorry guys, i love the supra. But RWD spinning wont help against a dead hook 1500whp GTR. Watch the next TX2K, u have been warned.

Zach Galifianakis the guy that "lost" to farm truck is JROD on SF.com. His green Supra is more than capable but if that show wasn't fake and asked him to turn boost down, he could have easily destroyed that hillbilly truck.

Probably not like after a certain point reliability is just out the window but at that amount of power but I mean at 1600hp you probably couldn’t care less about some smaller things breaking also long as you don’t have rod coming out to say hello
