One tip: don't stretch your fonts. Stretching text to fit a space either vertically or horizontally looks amateurish. You don't do it a lot, but there is some. I hope you take this un-solicited advice in the spirit of encouragement that it is meant. Keep it up, you haven't built such a successful channel so far by accident!

Dan, You're off to a fantastic start. Almost 600 subs since November is awesome ! I'm sure your channel is going to do great. And when I did a quick audit of motorcycle-focused KZread channels - I can see that if you develop a good thumbnail design and use it consistently with a good logo and consistent colors - you are going to be head and shoulders above the rest out there. Most of the other cycle channels have crap thumbnails. I sent you a private message. Email me, I have a few screen grabs and thoughts for you about your thumbnail designs. ~Cheers

Yarra, Thanks for watching my video and for taking the time to leave a comment and ask a question. I'm not very familiar with international language fonts other than what comes in the Apple OS and don't feel like I can adequately answer your question. Have you tried asking that question on Quora.com? There are folks there who are experts on that stuff. Good luck!

Hey H+W! Thanks so much for checking out my video! Who makes trends? Unlike the fashion industry where trends are manufactured and dictated to the industry by trend services and color bureaus, trend usually come about organically. PeopIe just see and start gravitating to the same idea and adopt it. Over time we recognize it as an emerging theme - and it gets reported and recognized as a trend. Appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment. Keep tuning in!

All true, but I will say, those of us (Gen X) who transitioned effectively from print to digital are generally better at typography than the current crop of designers, IMHO. When you had to manually kern and lead, you developed a great eye for what works. I also miss non-photo blue pencils and assembling my layouts with hot wax rollers. j/k

Thanks for looking so closely Supreme! I like being held accountable! That said, the tiny ones in "your daily mix" actually are. But you're right about the others. My bad. Moving to fast. I guess I used the term somewhat inappropriately for what is actually posterization. But hey, a Google image search for "duotone" turns up 90% posterization images. Doesn't make it right, but there ya go.
