This is helpful.
Great video, great info. I'm currently a Marketing Manager, but I'm lookin for a way to get into the more creative side of marketing. I do photography and videography as a side-hustle so I have that sort of experience, but I'm just starting to learn graphic design. Am I headed down the right path? Should I be looking to eventually get a role as a junior designer and then work my way up?
Great video
Good evening: Hi, how on earth is person gonna be a Creative Director without being designer or creative 🤔..?? And why. That's like being a CFO but you don't know nothing about Finances 🙂🙂..!!
I went to design school and Ad School for art direction and still can't get a job. I beg you to tell me what I'm doing wrong
Ayyyyyyyyye ✌🏾💥
Great information. Starting out as a designer, I had a great CD to learn from, but equally leant a lot from poor CDs from other agencies I joined. Apart from the main job requirements, I aim is to remain humble and approachable to my team - this creates a togetherness - which always generates the best work. The best idea can come from anyone 👍🏻
Thank you for making this video it really helped !
Saw this video is 6 years old, but still has good information... I actually created some videos about this topic, which I explained from my experience working with multiple KZread clients over the last few years. Good job, Philip.
Thank you, nice video and interesting hints
Intrigued
Great info, as usual, Phil. Thank you !
Excellent! I am reworking my website.
Excelente conteúdo, obrigado Philip.
You rock @gfmundial!
Excellent! Thank you
@dbencic, Thanks so much!~ Can you do me a favor as a small thank you? Please share my video with a friend or two! I'm trying to build my subscribers. More to come!
Honestly, I have yet to see someone who has perfectly nailed their personal brand as a designer. The only person who truly stands out to me is Aaron Draplin. PB will always be a pain point for me.
Thanks @PetersonJoseph! I'd have to add James Martin (Made by James) to that list...but there are many more IMHO.
Why? His branding isn’t really appealing, his website doesn’t even work on my iphone…
@PhilipVanDusen Oh boy, I'd love to see who would make it in your top five. As always, thanks for the great content!
Can u make a video about illustration and its profession.
Hey @vidumontv9147! Thanks so much for checking out my video - and for the suggestion! I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment. Keep tuning in!
This video is so detailed! Thank you!
I’m building a website specifically to ask for feedback, going to call it Peerfecter
Do you know I did not only save this video I subscribed immediately because the content is good
Can an agency do both?
Helpful, thanks.
ALWAYS DO REMEMBER THATS MY RULE
Not trying to be negative but you said nothing in 10 mins
I'm glad that I got out of doing standalone graphic design before the AI thing emerged. I've been doing aerial and FPV photography/ videography along with studio production work. I incorporate my graphic design skills with those projects. A key for the future is to do things that AI and unskilled people relying on AI cannot do, or do well.
Strongly Agree
Ux?
Great video & info for a starter like me Thanks😀 again Roger
It doesn’t work like that anymore unfortunately, LinkedIn changed the algorithm and design so so much since this video was posted. Maybe we need another interview update ;) i enjoyed this.
I simply fire them before they get a chance to put me under their thumb. You create scarcity for them in the process. I also write in my contract an indemnification clause that says my firm can opt out at anytime with no claims by either party. Know your worth.
I love your format, but I wish the video were more educational, providing specifics about the top 7 or 10 practical ways small businesses can leverage AI, rather than promoting AI tools. I believe small businesses need to gain awareness and receive specific guidance, given the number of companies trying to sell them products before they can even identify how their specific business operations can align with AI capabilities. Small businesses require advice, strategy, and then technology enablement, in that order. Technology enablement or the adoption of tools should occur only when there is a clear roadmap that can only come after the business understands and aligns its business operations with an AI strategy. I think you are perfectly positioned to help us with that. Thanks for your awesome videos!
I am a 53 year old woman that just graduated with my BFA in Graphic Design and self teaching in illustration and painting. I refuse to let this ageist world label me and hold me down. I keep up with current trends and styles and I know the history of art and design. If us "older" people are not allowed to retire until we are 62 then you're going to have to let us work until then! PERIOD> Also, remember this, if you are young now, you WILL be older soon. Don't be ageist. You'll only be hurting your future self. We are all human beings with feelings and aspirations. Love is the answer. The mindset that older people cannot adapt to technology as quickly as the younger generation is such an ageist way of thinking. It's such a lie. I can run circles around many people in the tech world. Don't judge people by how they look. You don't judge people by the color of their skin or by their sex, so don't judge us by the number of lines on our faces and we wont judge you for your lack of experience lines. You are me and I am you.
They way you explained, simple words and sentences, clear and detialed explaination on eqch topic made me to start working on wheel from now and after complicating this video I have downloaded free PDW. Thank you for the knowledge
Really wonderful video. I've been too nervous to even google the questions I've had as a CD (I felt that my wide range of experience should be enough on it's own), so when I finally did today out of desperation, to find this video immediately was incredible. I feel seen, understood and less alone. Your insites gave me a lot to think about and direction on how to improve. I've listed my strengths and weaknesses inspired by the points you made here and it's a really clear road map. Immediately subscribed. Thanks!
@SkipperTheEyeChild I'd love to know how you became a creative director? What was your path, if you don't mind me asking
Thank you for great advices
Do you offer one on one consultations?
“Pricing often equates to the perceived quality of what you offer” all I needed to hear 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
It's just another tool. As a friend of mine called it all years ago, "enabling ineptitude." I'm glad I came up before all this... the art is being lost. But hey, enjoy your AI, web templates, stock photography/illustration, and small-space digital "ads." I can't wait to retire at this point.
This was very informative. Thank you!
Thanks for this
Very clear, easy to follow.
I'm a new CD over Marketing Creative Services. My wheelhouse is video and creative ideas/solution. Graphic design? Not so much. So much to learn to strengthen the brand.
Hey @mbiegun! Thanks so much for checking out my video! I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment. Keep tuning in!
Hey @mbiegun I'm a filmmaker/video artist looking to have more stability. How did you become a creative director? I like how you described your wheelhouse. Thanks

Hey @rammanga8159! Thanks so much for checking out my video! I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment. Keep tuning in!
This is very clear explanation video.
Glad you think so!
What a great video man. I have been trying to get new B2B clients on LinkedIn for about a year now. I come from the old school B2B methods and just making phone calls then sending cold emails. Neither work great in the B2B world so linkedin has been my new way. I learned alot on this video and really appreciate you sharing this with us. Signed up for your Facebook page , subbed on here as welll as followed on LinkedIn.
I watch this topic because of Min Hee Jin.
Thanks @bboyjohnanytimesoon4862!
I studied music professionally and I learned making business, economy, philosophy, theology, several languages and a bunch of other things. When the covid broke out, I had no job. I learned programming and I currently work as a software engineer for a big company (S&P500, Nikkei225). That is good, a better money and more stability than in music. I would teach music, but I'm too tired physically and I'm interested in money no more. I want to write a couple of books, namely on epistemology and economy. I currently am making my PhD in Switzerland. The only problem is that I'm alone, no GF, no family, no kids, and no perspective. No one cares about what you can, it's totally irrelevant. Ladies say I am a bore. I've been told people don't understand the words I'm using. In the last few years I've had two first coffee dates, no second date, and typically in my life I've always been alone. Typically ladies refuse to meet me or even avoid speaking to me. I see them looking for ways to end a conversation. That is really frustrating.
thank you Sir!❤
Most welcome!
Your video has been transformational. I listen to your videos daily since I discovered you online. Thank you so much Phillips 🙏
Wow, thank you
