It reminds me of the story of Sergei Krikalev, the last Soviet cosmonaut and the last citizen of the Soviet Union, who was in space when the USSR fell on December 25, 1991 and stayed there alone in space until March 25, 1992. Imagine, alone in space, singing those songs, not imagining that your country down there on Earth no longer exists and therefore your words seem to be from a distant past that now blends with the Universe.

The original version of this song sounds loud, optimist and hopeful. This version sound a lot more quiet and distant, the feeling of hope is gone. Sadly it's a fitting parallel to the illegal dissolution of the USSR and the end of all the hope and dreams that once existed in the world. This song sounds like something you would hear in a dream. The dream is still there, slowly fading away.

Soviet space program was what first got me interested in astronomy and space exploration as a kid. Humanity could've landed on Mars and much more by now if only Americans and Russians could've gotten past their real and perceived differences with each other. Outside of political disagreements between the 2 nations I believe the average American and average Russian have far more in common then they realise. But the idea of a cold war created the illusion of being polar opposites to each other. Perhaps if both people's had more exposure to each others perspectives decades ago it could've been a much different story

„Na pyľnych tropinkach dalǒkich planet, ostanutsǎ naši sledy.“ This song is one of my favorites, & it helped me with the Russian alphabet & learning the Cyrillic script more broadly. I’ve worked on & off on a custom romanization of Russian that’s totally reversible without ambiguity while adhering to Slavic orthographic conventions for a couple of years & use songs like this to test it. I need to come back at some point when I have more time & type out a full romanization for this.

The year is 2256 The Neo-Soviet Union loses contact with a space station near Saturn. A small team is sent to investigate. The team arrives to find the station nearly abandoned. Oxygen levels are too low to be breathable so they must remain I space suits. The plants the station used to grow have withered and died. The team finds a sound coming from another room. They open the door, finding a single corpse and a device playing this exact song. All communications with the investigation team suddenly fail.

@@LightCrasher A socialist society shouldn't be able to be fucked up by mere individuals. It is exactly the fact, that few individuals held so much power over the future of the soviet proletariat, whilst alienating it from the economical and political process, which, in the end, lead to its demise. People may blame Gorbachev, but I ask myself: How did he attain power? Why could a single individual cause the fall of ''socialism''? Why were the people so dissatisfied, to seek for capitalism as a solution?

@@dalfokane Please, translate my text.
