14 hrs Alone in Japan Airlines First Class to Tokyo

Head to squarespace.com/trektrendy to save 10% off your first purchase of a website or domain using code TREKTRENDY
Join me onboard Japan Airlines First Class all the way over to Tokyo. What's more, I'll have the entire cabin to myself for 14 hours. As always with my trip reports, I'll share with you all elements of the experience from the luxurious bed, Japanese tasting menu, caviar and various premium amenities.
Starting in Chicago, my flight will cross the international date line, meaning technically I will be onboard for two days before arriving into Tokyo's Narita Airport. Given I've recently travelled onboard Singapore Airlines First Class, as well as ANA First Suites (both on their Boeing 777-300ER) I feel this review will be an interesting point of comparison between key luxury airline products in the Asian region. Have you flown JAL before, and if so what was your flight like?

So cool they provided a "map" of the offerings as I would have no clue what most of that was. Seaweed gelatin? I'd try it once for sure....but normally pass on that stuff. Great review as always!! Unfortunately the slippers were too small for my feet so I couldn't wear them but being able to lay back flat and sleep was amazing.

In 2014 I flew in a Qantas B747 into Narita. Was a wonderful trip; amazing experience all the bags coming onto the carousel oriented with the handles facing you; took a coach to Yokohama and the terminal staff all bowed when the bus departed; complete strangers would come up to me and offer a cold bottle of water during the heatwave. Wonderful culture and people there.

Another excellent travel video. Thank you for such a reassuring video that first class is alive and well in JAL. Sadly, all first class is in the USA is nothing more than "Coach Plus" where first class is filled with people getting upgraded and as a result the airlines reacts accordingly meaning first class is devalued. I took my ailing Dad across the US in first class and it was not that great. Coach passengers regularly used the first class restroom talking and shutting the restroom door and standing in the aisles waiting to use the facility. JAL is the new true first class and I am happy you got to experience it.

Tidy new pair of Tims Will. Great review as usual. Spotted you on NSD's review of SQ 1st Suites a few days ago. Nice that you both gave each other the recognition.

Hi Will Just a suggestion. You should try Aer Lingus Long haul from Dublin to New York in Business class. I have flown in this route twice and i would love to see your thoughts on it if you could. Thanks. Love all you videos by the way.✈

I've recently found your channel. I would just like to thank you for such an enjoyable channel. At 64 , the only plane I've ever been on is a Cessna around Duxford Airfield. So your reports are very informative and probably the nearest I'll ever get on a commercial airline. Well done, keep 'em coming 👏 👍👍

The hour it takes to go find the TSA pre-check “ office” and the preparation it takes is absolutely worth it and it’s good for five years.

I've flown JFK-NRT and it was amazing. The hard product is older but still comfy. The service and food are stellar. You chose well going for the Japanese meal instead of the Western meal. Looking forward to Japan reopening for tourists.

JAL one of the best of all classes in the sky, great review mate I love the whole package of JALs First class. Classy, comfy and the service is first class. And the meals presentation is on point. Brilliant 👍 😃 ✈️

Definitely will be giving JAL a try next time I visit Japan. By the way was that the same airport as used in the classic film Home Alone 😱

13:26 If you want a real classic long haul, check out the united flight from SFO to SYD. I remember my travel day as an 11 year old kid from PDX to SFO to SYD. Felt like the longest day of my life! With preboarding and delays on the tarmack due to the unpredictable weather in the bay area, I was sitting in my economy plus seat alongside my family for a little less than 17 hours, we timed it. Check it out one day if you have not already (:

New viewer here 👋🏻 It would be so helpful if you’d put the (retail) price of of these flights somewhere whether it be flashing on the screen, in the description box or in a tagged comment. Thanks!

Super. Restaurant service and food just for one passenger! WOW. I just got a box of Korean steam eye masks for my birthday. I was introduced to them on Korean AIr.

Nicely done, as always. Just one small thing for future reference: “O’Hare (never Chicago) International”. Fun trivia factoid: its code is ORD because its original name was Orchard.
