And Shenzi and Banzai’s old voices. And the fact that they were in a trio in the og, and in the remake they acted didn’t even know each other. tbh the hyenas were ruined in the remake.

I paused it at that moment to comment this exact point. It is ignorant to compare this lifeless remake to the live action Jungle Book because the director made a point to say that they added the actors facial expressions to the animals. The Lion King didn't do anything like that

SOME STUFF LEAVE ALONE HIS SONG why did they not try to get Whoopi and Cheech Marin and the other guy who played Ed to come back and do the hyenas the songs were terrible the only one that was good was Simba's and Can You Feel the Love Tonight the other one sound like terrible operas Timon and Pumbaa we're not as funny

The lack of facial expressions/emotion really hurt the movie unfortunately. But graphically it is a masterpiece.

Save the Dolphins which hurt the movie cause no emotion was shared that way. Mufasa dying or simba having fun with Nala, he would have the exact same look on his face. It's realistic yes, but not showing emotion causes the watchers to not feel emotion as well.

The 2019 remake movie is without any doubt very impressive (graphically speaking), but the colorful environments, the amazing characters' expressions, the animators' creativity with those visibly pleasant effects that only an hand-drawn animation can make you feel. The charm of the original animated movie, was and it still stays to this very day, unbeatable.

The voice overs are HORRIBLE. It feels as if the actors are hiding behind the screen reading their lines. I don't, for one second believe those voices are coming from the animals-even while "stretching the imagination."

My problem, they changed the lines for Mufasa's return in the sky: Simba, you have forgotten me... You have forgotten who you are, and so forgotten me. Look inside yourself, Simba? You are more than what you have become.

6:50 - Timon's expression reminds a lot of Jim Carrey

One scene I was very disappointed not to see in the remake was after Simba talked to his father in the clouds and is left to face the conflict of the 2 ways of life he has been taught. Simba: *gets hit with stick* Oww What was that for? R: It doesn't matter it's in the past. Simba: But it still hurts R: Ah yes, the past can hurt... But how I see it you can either run from it *swings stick at Simba* Simba: *douches stick* R:Or learn from it It's a part that I honestly loved in the original with a short yet impactful message that helps Simba understand that living in the past, as fun or carefree as it may be, learning from the past in order to better your future is something that is sometimes for the better, even if it does hurt.

i respect rafiki own words the future you can continue to live and be yourself and even be proud of who you really are without causing trouble or face your past enemy and take control as the main leader of the prideland now and even prideland lion will roar with you now becoming a dominate king now simba has to make a decision between facing his past or face reality in the future now :) rafiki always painting is prophecy what simba future might lye on now :) rafiki notice simba alive and begin to laugh happy he see simba and hurt him to face the truth why he left the prideland and never show nala and the prideland lions now :)

I never truly thought of the hyenas as stupid, but misguided. They had been living in that wasteland for who knows how long, and Scar was the character to round the hyenas up with promises of free food and better life styles, because now as an adult, I can see that even a great king like Mufasa would have some dirt swept under the rug. Scar was the one who had them cause a stampede, and at least twice planned to have them kill Simba and Mufasa so evidence couldn't be traced back to him. When Scar finally gets what he wants, his plan falls apart when there's a drought and herds move farther away, leaving the hyena clans worse off than when they started. With his life in danger, Scar tries to shift the blame of Mufasa's death onto the hyenas, yet tries to reconcile with them after Simba wins the final battle. Too tired and hungry of his constant bs, the hyenas kill Scar and flee the Pride Lands and the Elephant Graveyard for food.

I feel like alot of people want the Lion King (2019) to be literally exactly 100% like the original

I liked both versions of the movie, although two things I miss from the first were Zazu in the cage, and Ed. I know Ed was essentially there just with a new name. But I still was expecting a more goofy Hynea.

i agree the original is way better than the live action movie snow white classic lion king best beauty and the beast aladdin junglebook cinderella little mermaid mulan and even sleeping beauty always classic toward disney animation movie on blue ray now :)

I only wish they had included more of Rafiki. It was lacking his dynamic comical relief moments. He only had about one or two full sentences throughout the entire film.

In English sure, but he still has the entire "he lives in you" scene. You see him and Zazu after Mufasa dies, and a scene involving his stick that's completely new during the end battle. Rafiki never had much screen time, but they did give him new material.

Storm Bolt I really enjoyed his appearance in the original 1994 movie. His character made us chuckle after serious moments throughout the movie. I am especially sad about how Mufasa’s ghost scene played out in the remake. It didn’t have the same impact that the 1994 film had. The scene seemed a little rushed and the music accompanied didn’t do much. It also felt strange why the writers would want to have Simba say “dad” instead of “father.” It changes the aura a bit, going from a royal sentiment to an ordinary family. Just my take.

I was kinda disappointed because the lions seemed to always have the same emotionless face... I get that real lions don't show emotion the way cartoon characters would but it was disconcerting when you see Simba yell out "Noooo!" when Mufasa dies but he doesn't have the emotion of horror on his face...

I first seeing the lightning and clouds forming mufasa for a split second in the trailer made me say "aw yeah that's so cool, he's gonna look cooler when he's in final form". Disappointed finding out he stays that way.

I LOVED the changes of the hyenas actually, Shenzi’s upgrade was super. She was really scary! A more leader like. And that Nala and Shenzi fight/dialogue was incredible too!

Yup. And that's because in the wild, the female Hyenas run the pack and call the shots.

I really liked the way they changed Scar. If you pay attention to what is said in even the original movie, Scar is a lion with battle trauma. He often suffers from pain in his back. He is only allowed to live with the pride by the grace of his brother, meaning he has to live from scraps. Also, I think it's safe to assume that Mufasa became leader of the pride by defeating his brother in battle and he's the one who inflicted the wounds on his own brother, and Scar holds a grudge because Mufasa took his rightful place. But all this means that he is actually pretty weak. That's also why he chooses to be cunning, because he knows that he has no strength to fight his strong, fit brother (again). That's why he kills Mufasa in a moment Mufasa is defenseless, and uses an ambush for it, no direct confrontation. Later he also knows that he is not strong enough to beat Simba through fighting, so he uses the guilt he once spoke into Simba to make everyone think (including Simba himself) he's responsible for the death of Mufasa and drive him of the edge of the rock. It's only when Simba trips and hangs there Scar now makes the mistake into whispering in Simba's ear he killed Mufasa and he's this time not quick enough to kill Simba in the same way. Eventually when there's no longer a way out (unless he can accept exile) he starts fighting, but he really did his best the whole movie to avoid a fair fight because he is to weak to win and he's very self conscious about it. In the 1994 movie, besides the scar on his eye, you can only notice how weak he is by the things he says and does, but I don't think he looks weak. So his weakness can actually go way over your head because you can't tell by his looks how much physical trauma he really has besides that one scar. And he doesn't even look like he could pass for Mufasa's brother having completely different colors. In the new movie he looks exactly like he should have looked, like Mufasa's battle wounded weak brother living from scraps, extremely cunning and a master with words (like a true politician 😂) but no physical strength. Just a weak lion that should be happy he is alive at all. Not at the end of the movie obviously. He shouldn't have taken some time to whisper "I killed Mufasa" in Simba's ears. That's the mistake that caused the tables to turn against him. He should have thrown Simba directly off the edge if he had wanted to win before Simba could regain control, but he lost the element of surprise. But it's interesting when you analyze this villain on words and actions (and blood line even), you just have to conclude they did a better job creating the looks of this cunning weak lion in the remake and the way he looked in 1994 did no justice to his character at all after a character analysis. Sorry not sorry for those who preferred the black mained stronger looking version, although I would not mind hearing arguments why some people would prefer the old look, I like interesting discussions. And also sorry not sorry for the length of this comment, just speaking my mind about Scar, am not a cookie cutter that speaks in mindless useless oneliners so if the only response on my comment you have is a rude comment about its lenght don't waste time responding please.

I was waiting for a proper be prepared and the hula song. The hula sing is one of the best!! 😂😡

Just saw it today, I loved how it was realistic. You saw the ear of simba move as if there was a fly of it. You could actually see the behaviour of the animals.

I didn't miss the human features because of that and there was enough animal features to understand what they are feeling.

Surely nobody was expecting this to be better than the original. But its still good. (Except for Scar not saying "Simba, its to die for")

At first I thought that Scar hitting Mufasa in the face was a nice touch but then I realized the cartoon version carried a lot more weight. Scar simply lets him go which shows that he had given up on them being brothers a long time ago and I think it cuts Mufasa a lot deeper.

The lion king has been my favourite movie ever since I saw it 11 years ago. I was so happy with the remake and I also like how they aren’t exactly the same with the lines so it’s not boring, it’s different and I like it.

I will always love the animated version! Not only did I grew up watching it, it helped me through the grief of losing my father... that is something that can hardly be replaced in my heart!

I honestly loved the "Be Our Guest" reference that Timon made in that scene with Pumbaa being a distraction for the Hyenas. Of course, I still hold some nostalgia for the way it was done originally, but the humor in this remake wasn't too bad. :)

i like the new movie , but it is simply no match for the original..

I was really disappointed when “Be Prepared” wasn’t sang fully. That was my favorite song from the lion king and I was hoping to see it in the remake.

Watched it last night and Ioved it! I will see it again! The only disapointment was the song "Be Prepared" but other than that I loved it! I actually almost cried when Musfasa died and then during the "Remember who you are" scene. The visual effects are stunning and recommend it for it for any fan of the film!

Maaaaaaaan, I know The Lion King by heart and memorised all lines since I've watched it many many times since I was little. But I find the new arrangement of "Be Prepared" a more scarier and creepier approach plus the new Scar. They had to cut it down because you can't possibly remake the same exact scenes in a much more realistic approach with all those hellish lava bursting as Scar walks and hyenas marching, etc. I was worried actually that they'll gonna do that in the remake. No hate on both versions of Scar. I like Jeremy Irons too, but this new guy is scarier. And yes, as a fan of the classic film, I find "Be Prepared" better on this one.

the 2019 film is more serious compared to comedy lines of 1994 version. i like the 1994 version.

The movie I feel missed out on the human type expressions with the animals in my opinion. The shot by shot scene by scene from the Animated movie is captured perfectly but the emotion is what the movie kind of missed with the characters. The Animated movie really captured the actors likeness with the emotions.

That’s true. When I get fully immersed in a movie while I’m watching it, I don’t caught up in details or critique it. Then after it’s over I start to reevaluate what I’m watching. Regarding this movie remake itself, I haven’t heard people say too many good things about it, like the aforementioned lack of emotion from character/it being a rehash of the classic 1994 movie, but I would like to see it for myself to see if I would like/dislike it.

I think people understand that clearly, it's just the point of how iconic these movies are, and that people are very aware that the remakes are simply to reintroduce these stories to a modern-day audience, but also getting a visual of what these amazing adventures would look like with modern day technology, of course there would be changes and things of that nature however the one thing that a lot of people want whenever there is a remake, is that they want to feel that same powerful energy that was felt during the original it's not so much of people filling this is a replacement, they want it to feel just as magical as it always was that's what a lot of people want. And when it comes to remakes now days it looks good it sounds good but isn't delivering the same kind of magic if not better then what people already know, and that was the expectation when it came to a lot of remakes, hell that's why the jungle book did as well as it did because it was able to capture and magnify the same magic that was in the original but that's just my opinion but you guys do have a very valid point though

Exactly. What some people can’t seem to understand is that lions in real show literally no emotion with their faces, which is what Disney was going for. So if you were expecting that you’re just setting yourself up to be disappointed.

i cant believe they took out the "hitting simba on the head" part. That was the best way to teach about how the past can hurt but learning from it is better than running from it. Loved the movie but still wish they kept it.

To answer your question, NO it is not a roaring good time like the original. It’s visual stunning but super one dimensional and extremely boring

Honestly I got both chest warming moments in the same scenes which is worth it to me . Here is how I look at it . One is for that child warming feeling and the other is for realistic immersion feeling . There is never anything wrong with that . I loved them both equally .

I also loved that part of the film I love all references to one of my favourite characters. The animals all respected him

jungle book has had more facial expressions from animals in one scene than the lion king during the whole movie

The new Scar's character was just a heap of monotonous, husky, grumbling. Jeremy Irons' version was far more interesting.

Remake Opinions: -The remake scar voice was actually scarier when he shouts. -Remake Baby Simba was more cute -The part when Nala is escaping the pridelands at night was actually brilliant. -The part when Pumba and Temone singing the YIYIHIHII~ and Nala came out of nowhere is very surprising -Nala grown up is soo beautiful -Hyenas there was super scary -The final battle where Nala vs the girl Hyena(forgot the name) was incredible -The Lines in the remake was better.

I want to Cry after Mufasa's Feath in the remake But somehow in my heart only cried the original. It has so much soul in feeling. Even how simba cries MA me cry in snuggle up against his dead father in the animated scene. But the new version I couldn't cry but at the same time on the inside I cried A bit. But not from the outside. I care about animals feelings. I give mythoses death in a remake maybe 8 Out of 10And the original 10 and Of 10.

No mr pig? No Hula? No Bonzi or Edd? No "The past is in the past?" *WHACK* "OW! What was that for?" "It doesn't matter, it's in the past."? They were some of my favorite moments in the lion king

I freakin Love the remake! Even though lion king original is my absolute favorite movie. This was like watching the characters become real and alive. Its awesome. I dont understand the hate towards this movie at all. Both orig and the new share a place in my heart ❤️

@@qwilfish66 Really well let me tell you why we hated it it was extremely bland 1 dimensional & lacked any new qualities when you remake or reboot a movie the purpose is to bring something new to to table something fresh but Lion King fell hard at doing that .

The liveaction did some things better, but not others: and even they removed or changed certain scenes (with important details), but I like that they developed the characters of Zazu, Sarabi and Shenzi and gave them more moments on the screen, it was very good): 1 When the hyenas chase the cubs, Nala stays behind and Simba claws a hyena in the face (says a lot, he really cares about others) 2 I liked that at least they gave Simba and Mufasa one last interaction during the stampede 3 I liked that this time they showed how was his Simba's fall into the desert after his escape, he was at least able to take a last look at his home, and it is sad how he runs with all his strength until he gets tired and falls, it is very moving because it shows in his expression, that he is weakened and depressed by the sadness of having lost his father, hunger and exhaustion 3 In the original, when Timon and Pumba rescue Simba, they wake him up by throwing water on his face (important, because it shows that if they didn't arrive, nobody saved him); but here, he wakes up alone... it doesn't make sense. This time they do show up with names and everything, but it hurt me that this time he tells them that it doesn't matter that they saved him 4 The song Hakuna Matata was better more or less, especially with the jokes.. Although other animals also inhabited in the jungle, they also show us that Timon and Pumba were the only ones who were not afraid of Simba. 5The scene of the path of her lock gives more meaning to the cycle of life 6The Nala's escape (I liked that they empowered her and and they gave a great moment to Zazu) 7This time when they meet again, she recognizes him by touch when he talks to her, how is it possible? But in the discussion, I did not like that they remove when Nala says: "I would have it if you told me" because shows that she wanted help him. 8 Also in this one, he doesn't angrily yell at the sky that you said you'd always be there for me, but he says that he doesn't need more friends or anyone, that he never did; there it is rather seen that the character collapses, IT BROKE MY HEART.. 9 Their Simba and Mufasa's reunion is much better here I think and I was moved when he said: "I am Simba, son of Mufasa", I also liked that they showed his return from beginning to end (and the song), it represents a lot: it means that he finally rediscovered and found his identity; and on his return, we see how he faces his past crossing the places of his escape (the desert and the canyon), it's very powerful this moment.. But they didn't have to remove the lesson that the past can hurt, but you can run away from it or learn (I think that was the heart of the movie, they also took away Rafiki's moment).. 11I liked that Timon and Pumba went to help without anyone notifying them, sensing that Simba needs them, and they tell him that they will help him because he is their friend, Although the distraction of the original was funnier 12 the confrontation and the final fight was more epic all 13 I would have liked it to end like the original : in which the Simba, Nala, Timon and Pumba are on top (represents how important they are and that they succeeded together).. SUGESTION: Although if it wasn't too much to ask, they could have included scenes from the Lion King 3 (more of his growing up with them instead of the time skip), the scene from the musical in which Timon almost falls down a waterfall and Simba has a flashback of his father's death (that one was so much better and says a lot: he almost lost his friend like he lost his dad and because of his recklessness) Also the scene in which Zazu reminds him that as a child he was the same as his son; or some song from the musical I am not a film director, but it is only my opinion, does anyone else agree with me?

I miss the dumb hyenas i just think they took too much important details out 😭😞🙁

It's a live-action movie so it needs to be realistic. Making the hyenas more intelligent was a good idea . We already seen dumb hyenas for 20 years

Most people do prefer the original. It was and still is considered a classic, one of the most famous cartoons out there

I loved seeing all these characters on the big screen for the second Time but still the emotions and the dialogues from the cartoon are unbeatable

I like both Lion King films and I appreciate the things that make them stand out from one another.

They could have kept that spirit song in the closing credits it didn’t match the film. They sound have put the original instrumental with samba running back to pride rock

One of the most cinematically beautiful films I’ve seen of all time. I enjoyed it a lot but the lack of expression took me away from the experience.

Craig Bailey I share your opinion. The 1994 version gave me warmer feelings and teary eyes. I just ‘felt more’. Also, the songs did’t have the same impact on me. The opening scene of the original movie still gives me goosebumps. Now, not so much... But I did like the new scene of the young Pumbaa in the water hole, that was hilarious

I kind of accepted that going in, since we all know photorealism can't express human emotion on animals as well as animation. However, where the producers made a huge mistake was by speeding up scenes that should've sparked the most emotion (e.g. Mufasa teaching Simba a lesson, Simba and Nala's reunion, etc.). Those scenes needed to be _slowed down_ so the audience can emotionally (re-)connect with them, but they just whizzed by instead.

I like how they do include be our guest in the live action

On an emotional level, I think I loved the animated one. On the creative talent, the CG is awesome

Wish Whoopi Goldberg Voice was in the New Version for the Hyena. But glad they got James Earl Jones back.

OMG...I just asked where was Whoopi at? Everyone seems to have forgotten about her. She was funny as hell as the main Hyena.

The original is far better, but in my opinion I actually like the live action.

I had TONS of issues with the live action Jungle Book. I only mention it here, because you said you don't remember people complaining about it.

Fun fact about The Genie with a neon applause sign: After the original screening of Friend Like Me, a Disney executive told Eric Goldberg (The original lead-animator for The Genie) "We're not getting any applause at the end of Friend Like Me! You got to do something!" So Eric added an applause sign on Genie's back at the end of the song.

I hate how they changed the Mr.pig scene it was classic Edit: Thank you for 100 likes!!! It's the most I've ever had
