I can ride up to 80 miles in a day. I’m 56, I ride gravel, road, MTB. I have a couple of gravel tires I like: Pirelli Cinturato H 45mm Panaracer S/S and S/K 38 mm Pirelli Gravel Race 45 mm are my new favorites. All tubeless set ups .

For tires I run IRC and I run both semi slick an full tread "mullet" setup. 42c Boken Doublecross (full tread) front and 40c Boken rear. Two Unbound 200s, and three other 100+mi races with no punctures. Plus they have the best customer service in the world!

I am a big fan of the Pirelli Cinturato tires. I used the H for mixed terrian all last year, very very fast. I did the GDMBR with the M in 650BX50 and it still has good tread left. I like those Kask helmets and Oakley glasses you detailed.

Thanks Dave, that's good to know. Did you find the H had enough grip on gravel? I know it's much faster than the M (especially on road) but I'd be nervous about not having enough grip off road. Cheers!

Hey Ivan. Yes I road them in a gravel race on everything from smooth gravel to chunky ATV trails. I regularly road them on single track as well. But if it's muddy or super soft there is not enough traction. I prefer the M for that as well as heavy loaded bikepacking trips

The Pirelli cinturato is my absolute choice too.. especially for rough weather/ground conditions like in Wintertimes. Good grip and puncture protection all the year through. Haven't had any puncture since i have installed it. Love it. Made a video about it as well.... Cheers!

Agreed on the photochromatic glasses! It really is that great I use them all the time with my prescription glasses and you really can't go wrong with them. You need eye protection and photochromatic gives it to you at all times.

The titanium cleats are NOT more durable than regular steel SPD cleats. Steel is stronger than titanium in almost every property. Tensile and yield strength are greater with steel than titanium. Titanium does have a higher strength to weight ratio than steel. For proof of this fact, just look at the titanium cogs on a cassette. They wear out much faster than the steel cogs.

I think the sentiment of this was that the Silca cleats are more durable than the standard. Less about the material strength of the two. It’s her experience based on testing. Just my 2c

Ti cleats are super durable, and down wear down like the weaker steel ones.

Yep, Silca, the manufacturer of the ti cleats, states that they are more durable than brass cleats (such as those used for Crankbrothers pedals). But the steel ones are of course more durable - which follows not only from material science, but also from experience of those who’ve been using standard steel spd cleats for ages without the need to replace them

the only problem I have with Kask is how poorly they rate in commotion protection in independant testing (UFC-QueChoisir / Certimoov) in comparaison of their steep price too bad :/ Anyhow I personally use Soma Cazadero and they are really nice and grippy whilst remaining somewhat "rolly" (for a 50mm*) due to the fat continuous center thread. Supple and "light" (for a 50mm*) too. Probably wouldn't fare well in the really sharp gravel but I had no problem so far in mixed conditions in the alps and france's southern lands (the Luberon 🤩).
