    Having been a Machinist since 1970: 1) your running that reamer 1.5-2 times as fast as it should for that operation. 2) Never ream without either water based or oil based lubricant if you want a true sized hole. Less lube needed with a carbide reamer, but still needed. You probably should have put that bench-top vertical mill in back gear for reaming to slow it down, remember to reverse directions while in back gear.

    Hey guys. I am a Toolmaker and I do lots of those type of machining. I see when you tap and ream you use slow movements to not over heat your tool which is right, but may I suggest you use tapping paste when you use reamers and taps and dies. It will totally help with the overheating and helps you not to seize your tool or minimize the risk of breaking the tool in the job. Love your video’s keep it up

    It'd be great to see how you do the diy stud kit machining process, the m10 threaded stud heads are genius. Getting cnc studs done costs about half as much as a decent china milling machine. There's a thread on Aus rotary about using the centre plate as the template for the rest of the holes but the housings seem to be the hard part due to misalignment of bolt holes. Do u just drill through the centre plate into the housings, not worry about the drill bit walking and let the reamer take care of truing it up?

    I'm surprised you don't machine the combustion faces of the rotors, you would be surprised just how different each combustion chamber is from factory. Also do you ever bother to check the apex springs for resistance, there are many times you will find a certain apex spring is slack/lacks resistance. Just a few tips..👍👍

    You might find it a bit uncomfortable but it is best to keep your party pack chilled. All right now seriously you are pulling the case studs up tighter than 48 pound feet/65nm, you did say that you were tightening up to 1/2" unf? I would also suggest you invest in a center finder or a clock to clock the counter bores of the end iron. A whole lot easier and more accurate.

    Friction systems should be dealt with in the engine housings... of its pressure, timing, and containment of the combustion system.. and not on the rotary. Swing, spring, pressure, and timing to contain the forces and energy within the engine housing... which will relieve the pressure that friction is giving on the rotary...

  • @TykeMison_

    @TykeMison_

    4 жыл бұрын

    It depends entirely on the design goal for the motor and the part choice. Pretend I want to use straight 30 weight instead of a 5-30, and I use a stronger oil pump (more liters or gallons per minute flow rate) to handle the stress of racing. Using arbitrary numbers: The stock motor has 45PSI on 5 thousandths clearance but I am getting 70 PSI at 5 thousandths with the race-ready upgrade. Because the oil pump can flow more liquid, and the oil is a thicker kind, the pressure is going to increase beyond what the motor was designed for. I may need to increase clearance to 8 thousandths to get oil pressure to the right level. Conversely on a very badly worn out motor the clearances may have increased from 3 to 8 thousandths, and I may want to use a step heavier oil to have oil PSI in spec. It's all relative to how the engine was meant to run and the changes you make to it.

    Amazing ..... Would you do an experiment like in this picture for your next project? 8ttps://images4.imagebam.com/9e/b1/2e/MEKFJ3L_o.jpg I have a heated debated with my friend, he said without "Gear", the rotor will wobble randomly and erraticly. I think No, because the rotor is holding by its housing or casing and eccentric shaft firmly/tightly. I can't prove it, but logically my idea is right, isn't it? So if you interested in this concept, I would be very appreciate. Have a nice day CU
