I show how to change the automatic transmission fluid (ATF) in my 2016 Nissan Frontier SV V6 4x4 truck. The process is really simple and its only a 20 minute job.

I'm looking at a used 2015 SV with 140000 miles which is really high, but the truck looks pretty damn good. Most of the miles were highway cruising which are pretty easy on the vehicle. If I buy it I will definitely be replacing all of engine and driveline the fluids, so this was a big help.

Watch out changing fluid on cars with high mileage. It can cause slippage and damage. Unless it was properly maintained.

@@JulianX3__ I actually never bought that truck. However, that concern only applies to transmissions and doing a partial drain and fill mitigates that concern.

i used to work in a shop but retired now i own a 2019 frontier . you have to have the engine running while checking the fluid . the only cars i checked like that were hondas. the pump keeps the fluid in all the clutches . as long its in the crosshatch area on hot side your good.

is there something unusual or special to check the fluid level. The manual talks about reversing the position of the gauge. see below. Im not clear on that. • To check the A/T fluid level, insert the A/T fluid level gauge until the cap contacts the top of the A/T fluid charg- ing pipe, with the gauge reversed from the normal inserted position.
