I really appreciate the different kinds of approach. Everytime Mrs. LPL makes an appearance it's either thinking outside the box, utter chaos or brute force. She really gets sh*t done. I would not mess with her. 10/10 🤣

your party encounters a transparent puzzle with loot inside, what do you do? Rogue: I check for trap. Entire dungeon: Stops, turns and stares at the rogue. DM: So, you're looking for traps... in a transparent puzzle. No need for dice that's an automatic 1 on the skill check. The puzzle explodes doing 6d6 damage to everyone nearby.

"Let's see if a hammer can smash this plastic thing" is about on par with "let's see if it was just a fluke" in terms of rethorical-ness.

Literally everyone at the 2:35 signoff , "He only opened it two ways, the title says three...I suppose the hammer is merely an implied option."

I once opened a lock with a bobby pin (basically just functioned as a wave rake) and I'm sure you could bend a paper clip into a semi effective pick... granted it was not a difficult lock if a teenager could do it with a bobby pin having never tried to pick a lock before, but I'm sure LPL could do better lol

I opened a Master lock model 140 yesterday with two bent bobby pins. I’d never picked a lock in my life before that so I was rather pleased with myself. Just to make sure it wasn’t a fluke, I did it again. Twice. Attempt number one took two hours, attempt number two took under a minute and the third attempt took slightly longer at a little under two minutes.

I've picked a couple of locks with two paper clips bent into a hook and a tensioning tool. It's definitely doable, but the softness of the average paper clip can be an issue.

@@Tantalus010 So true! The paper clip is too soft to exert high tension on the core and to be used effectively as a hook it needs a wide keyway. They're only good for simple locks like cabinets and closet locks.

Moving the ball isn't difficult so a magnet wouldn't do anything.

After watching the video in .25 speed and analyzing frame by frame I now know what LPL looks like. A camera on a stand.

I absolutely love that the Lock Picking Lawyer's spouse has the initial reaction of "Beat it with a hammer!" Coupled with the Thor/Avengers reference... this may be my favorite LPL ever :D

I know it probably is, but I still want to know for definite if that that ball is steel/magnetic. Using a magnet would have afforded the LPL so much more control, I kind of can't believe he didn't go for that.

LPL: Here is my arsenal of lock picking tools, some of which are custom made Mrs LPL: I have a hammer, a grinder and a gas axe

I find that mazes are vastly easier from the end, most off branches are designed to fool you as a prospect exit, but theres usually one good "entrance" branch

Tracing from the end point: Effective Pushing the lock lever: Very effective Smashing the box with a hammer: *Super effective*

One thumbs up for another LPL video. But, another thumbs up for being a good hubby and following through with the Mrs' method! Good man!

Not gonna lie. If LPL had a 30 second video with 25 seconds of explaining, 1 second of suprise smashing, and 4 seconds of outro, I wouldn't be mad. I would be rolling around laughing, and that video would become something I show family and friends.

That ending, though. Once again I am amazed at his prowess for deadpan. I probably would not have been able to stifle a laugh at how sudden and effective that was.

I had expected the box to have passageways that weren't just around the outside of the box. They used to sell puzzles like that back in the day. If you could get clear filament I suppose you could 3D print one.

You're quite correct. Over here, in England, we have the original Ely, and it's pronounced just like that. 🙂 👍

I work at a lowes in north carolina. I was able to re key both quickset and schlage locks without any kind of training from my employer whatsoever due to your videos. Thank you.

@@brianm.595 My guess is it has to do with the Finns and Slovenians that settled the area. If not them, I'm guessing some other ethnic group was involved.

@@SamWise050 Ely is actually mentioned by name in one of the articles I pulled up on Slovenian settlement in the US to learn myself a thing or three about another ethnic group I wasn't as familiar with. So, thanks for that!

I would assume that it is named after the Cathedral city of Ely in Cambridgeshire in England, the name of the city dates back to the formation of the Abbey in 673 but the name comes from the isle of Ely on which the Abbey was built, so the name Ely is probably a lot older. It's not an island anymore, the area was drained in the 17th Century. The name probably comes from the abundance of Eels in the region hence an eel-ly place. Many place names in the UK don't follow modern pronunciation trends, the places have been there so long that the English language has changed around them, I'm afraid even as a native you can get caught out sometimes.

@@skreeog Last video of his where he was shooting at a lock, it took 120 rounds (60 5.56, 40 7.62 AP and 20 .50 BMG) to defeat the lock. It was a lot easier for him to just pick it.
