For those who don't know, Elmax is very close to M390 but sacrifices a little bit of edge retention in favor of toughness. Vosteed killing it!

I love my vosteed knives. That one you got sold out first on the drop. It was limited. I have several other models of the nightshade that include the original brass and micarta in m390 that was their first knife design. They have great products and awesome customer service. The nightshades blade is an awesome cutter.😊

Hi Metal Complex, the blade shape is more like a Shilin Cutter rather than the Kukri blade. The name "Shilin Cutter" of the Vosteed Nightshade, is originated in Shilin District in Taipei, Taiwan. The Kuo He Chi (Kuo He’s Shop) cutlery store was founded in Taipei in 1869. For nearly 150 years it has produced a variety of blades, but it is best known as the original maker of the Pachihlan, renamed the Shilin Cutter after the end of Japanese colonial rule in 1945.

Good info. I like Shilins. The Kizer Baby fixie is a slicing machine. I tested it against a very large collection,,...it wins

The Elmax version was a sprint run, I picked up the brass and black Micarta one. love the action, fit and finish is great for the price. However my factory edge lasted about five minutes , so after sharpening the Elmax does seem a little chippy and the stonewash on the blade makes it feel a little less slicey to me. Overall still a great knife, very fidgety

Cool! I just can't get into the blade shape. Now give us a Raccon or a Thunderbird in Elmax.

Just got this knife with the brass bolster and black micarta and I love it.

Love it, when they restock, this will be my first jade/natural g10 knife!

I think this is a beautiful blade shape for edc camp kitchen work & any thing else you need to use it for with the exception of batoning. The machining work is very good. Contersinking of screws etc. I would order one but I just received a Benchmade Crooked River, M4Clip with G10 Jade Scales & its crazy sharp. A special edition from KNIFE CENTER.

That may just be the best clip that I have seen.

Night Shade is here to stay! Looks like it’s taking over as Vosteed’s version of the Pyrite; before long this might be their evergreen just because of its usefulness and overall affordability. I love the bolster look but I will definitely wait for more variations before I settle because I have not invested in one of these just yet

It's like a kukri mated with a bird trout knife. I like it.

I think they use a steel liner lock, cuz when the titanium rubs with the steel blade when you open and close it at the, small ball clicking thing, it seizes, or so I heard, so they make it steel rubbing on steel. but I dunno there's probably a more titanium used fix to this

Always like this style but never got the Nightshade because it had NO LEFTY OPTION. Yesterday a sale price on the Fox Chilin F8 brought under it $100. Not a premium modal but expectable enough for me to get because it also has a lefty clip option.

It took me a while to warm up to this knife Design but I do like it

I’m still trying to get the Mini. They need to quit faffing about making different versions of this one and get busy making some mini’s and give us a bigger version too. I have a shaman in elmax and it's the second most expensive knife I own so far

I much prefer knives WITHOUT a cutout on the left side. I know, that leaves out lefties. But I'm not a leftie and it's a lot cleaner look without an unused cutout.

It seems the blades curvature would need you to pay more attention to where your place the end on what you are cutting. Rather than just going Kamakazi, with a sheepsfoot.

Guess you haven't seen any of the previous iterations of this fantastic knife. This one is the best so far. If they stay on this path, we will see a button lock version someday. I own the original nightshade in the budget version in 154cm. Excellent quality, an excellent knife. Good review. Thanks.

I just can't get excited about the looks of this knife. It's a love it or hate it design. Cool that they're using Elmax though. Maybe I could get excited about a full Ti version though🤔

As a knife guy, I know the ounces, but if you push that 'unit' button on your scale, It would be really nice of you.

Сivivi can make such clips. Sokoke is proof of that. And unlike Nightshade, it's more left-handed friendly. Actually, on the Mini version, the clip can be installed on the left side, but there is no recess. So it looks like they can't do both at the same time... And when I see something like that, I have only one thing in my head: - What the hell?!

Well they must have ramped up production or you never looked very hard because I've been looking at these in stock on their own website for the last 2 weeks and I finally broke down and got one after mulling it over this whole time.

Hey can you or somebody tell me, I just bought a new Spyderco yojimbo2 and also have a para 3 in Maxamet coming tomorrow and I noticed it’s hard for me to flick it open due to being so new and I’m a noob at it. Am I supposed to put a little oil or something on it? I know there’s that blue shit you can get but idk I’m new to knives.

Pick up some KPL (knife pivot lube) and play with it for a few days while you are watching TV or something. Gotta break some knives in.

Goofy blade shape, personally I only like the Mayhem & Thunderbird!

Decent package for the price, but nothing extraordinary. New knives are bombarding the market every week. It is hard to be impressed now a days.

The thumbnail is a TRM Atom. A much better knife

No more elmax Nightshades until next year. So sad.

I love my spyderco, but Qc and customer service is out the door now. I own this knife and its fantastic. I own a sage, I’ll take a shillin historical blade shape>hype

I don't like this blade shape at all.

Man collects expensive premium grade top steel knives - and opens is packages with a sharpened wrought iron(?) fire poker(?) ?
