@@jordanbabcock9349 I generally see those so determine to win the big one not act like this when they lose an important match. I typically see this behavior when it comes to submitting. Look at Bo Nickal when he lost to Miles Martin in the finals. Bo, though he lost, would not settle with it. Since his loss, he has owned Miles Martin. This is just my observance of elite competitors. Of course there is a chance I'm wrong about Nick. It's just that Nick has been taking a pounding with the elite guys, and he's not scoring much for points with them.

Not really. It’s a great weight class because it doesn’t go off the boil after the top 2-3 guys, but I don’t think there is a true stud in the weight class. By stud, I mean someone like Nickal or Nolf. There is not one single guy in that weight class that is both great attacking neutral and on top. I love the weight class because anyone can win, but pound for pound, not one of the 133 guys would make my top 10.

Never against a top guy. At this level-top five in a weight class-all these guys are good in all positions relative to an average wrestler. However, it’s when they face each other, people find out their real strengths abs weaknesses. Suriano has not demonstrated that he’s great on the attack-this is actually the best match I’ve seen him wrestled, offensive wise, in college.

Suriano was the much better wrestler this match. I think his problem is that he’s not used to shooting that much on a top wrestler, hence why he allowed the takedown. But that’s okay, though. He allowed one takedown and could have had three or four of his own. I think he might be the best wrestler at that weight class. That’s quite a poor showing for Micic who got lucky a few stoppages. If he lets other top wrestlers continually get to his legs like this, he’ll lose.

If Nick can smooth out his rough edges, I think he could still be a favorite. He seems to control most of these big matches but he is falling short. For one, I think he needs to work on conditioning a little, but more than likely he is just cutting too much weight. Causing him to die out after a burst of offense or at the end of matches. This was most apparent against Austin. In this match, you really get a feel for it at the beginning of the 2nd. Here he seems he is just catching his wind for the first minute. He seems to be literally leaning on micic as a strategy to catch his breath. But again, I can't imagine a wrestler of this Caliber being out of shape. And it makes me think it is a weight cut issue. Which I hope isn't true. He is so talented, and cutting too much weight just takes all the fun out of it. For his sake, I hope this isn't the case. He also needs to have a couple solid go to moves. If he can do a couple things, he can start dictating the outcome a little better. He doesn't have much of a go-to offense, seems more reactionary. At 1:20, even with his offense.... he gets in on the shot, and then he seems lost. You get a full 8 count of him just hanging on. No movement on either side. He doesn't move (react ) until micic tries to switch out of it. So.. again , even with his offense, he is reactionary vs being the aggressor. And with his reactionary style he ends up positive often based on his strength alone. And I think that is illustrated at the end of the match here. You can see he kind of just changes levels without much of an idea of what to do. Like he is a bit lost. If you look st the PSU "row" they all have several go to moves that they are confident in, and they would all be able to st least put in a couple solid attempts at the end of a match. And they would have enough gas left to do so. Nick just needs to do a few things to start coming out on top here. Conditioning (which may be out of his control if he is cutting more than 10 lbs. off of his lowest natural weight) and a little technical work would help him finish those two shots, that were called off, much quicker. The technical work would put him in a better, more offensive position, and conditioning would help him drive through it. And keep your head in the match. Don't worry about the refs, control what you can control. Anyhow... just my two cents.

I hate potentially dangerous calls on near completed takedowns. Okay for one, if your defense of a move is something that can hurt you, you’re defending the move incorrectly and the ref shouldn’t bail out a wrestler that is letting his knee be torqued 90 degrees because he’s too stubborn to allow the takedown. Either he will hurt his knee and learn when to admit defeat or the takedown will be completed. The rule book shouldn’t be bailing out stubbornness and punishing wrestlers that have nearly completed a takedown. I just hate potentially dangerous calls in general. Only called when they’re never needed, and when they’re desperately needed they’re called way too late. If a top wrestler is putting on an illegal move I get it, but if the defending wrestler’s defense is “let him wrench my knee until the ref steps in” that’s an abusal of the rule, wrestlers shouldn’t be using their health as leverage to stop takedowns.

Suriano needs to be that aggressive bully wrestler he use to be literally wait until the last minute for everything. And talk about stalling that's all you ever see from guys now a days score late and runs away proving nothing but doubt in their skills as a wrestler

Thanks to Suriano, I no longer need sleeping pills. All I have to do is put on a tape of one of his matches against a top competitor--and in no time I'm fast asleep.

Suriano could have been a 3X NCAA champion under Cael Sanderson. He only had a handful of losses in high school and none that flawed his dual meet 159-0 record. He's now a serial quitter. He got beat a few times at Penn State and quit - then he lost in the Olympic trials and quit - he even refused to wrestle his consolation matches - now he quit Rutgers... SAD! He could have been a great wrestler but he will leave college with one NCAA championship! He's super strong for his weight just not a great technical wrestler.

Nick Suriano...the greatest 159-0 Four Time NJ State Champion...to do nothing in College who can't finish a single. I guess Micic is representing Indiana better than Suriano is Jersey. Pffft...

A year behind what and who.... and what does his age matter? Look at Vincenzo Joseph and other elite College wrestlers...Suriano was an Elite HS wrestler...not College. @@tropicalterrarium1742

Please don't even try to compare the level of Indiana HS wrestling to the level of New Jersey...It was close match that could gone either way here...and both Suriano and Micic have plenty of wrestling left in their careers...we shall see what happens when it counts in March

Dear Jon: I wrestled in NJ, placed 5th in the State in 1980. I have a very poignant respect for competition...and that is my point...apparently Suriano peaked in HS. Nothing wrong with that...I just expect more from a 159-0 4 time Jersey Champ. Apparently a 184-5, 3 time Indiana State Champ is better...enough said. @@jschnabes13

@@danarmando537 Fair enough Dan...But I think it's still a bit early to say he has peaked, or that Micic is definitely better then him...They both have a runner up finish in the national championships, and they just had an extremely close match here. Time will tell who ends up having the better college career. And respect for your placing in the NJ State championships, just making it to that level in Jersey is very impressive:)

@@jschnabes13 Indiana is a tough state but New Jersey still has much more competition given their population and also, they're just a friggin hot bed for wrestling. BUT Indiana has a lot of competition even being a less populated state. I mean just watch some of the 2009/2010 and up state finals with tough ass mofos like Cody Phillips and Brandon Nelson
