130 PIGS IN 3 NIGHTS • 308 BOLT ACTION • AUSTRALIA

Ойын-сауық

Recent Feral Pig Contract using Bolt Action rifles chambered in 308. Away with 2 other contractors this trip. Our setup entailed 2 shooters and 1 driver/shooter. All 3 of us were running 30 Calibre suppressed rifles and thermal scopes. We also run a roof mounted thermal scanner with built in laser range finder so we can scan for pigs in the crops whilst driving around the crops. Most of the shooting this trip was done from a standing position using carbon tripods. The pigs had been wreaking havoc in the sorghum crops so our focus was to cull as many as possible over a 3 night visit. The first 2 nights were quieter than expected with a combined total of 38, however that all changed on night three and we managed to eradicate another 92. Grand total of 130 pigs culled. Needless to say the farmers were very happy and we will be back out there again very soon.

    Great job!! You fellas are more effective with bolt guns and sub-sonic ammo than many people are with super sonic ammo and ARs. It still shocks me to see how much of a weapon the subsonic ammo actually is in practice. I didn't think it would be lethal out to the ranges you gentlemen are using it, but it is working wonderfully. Much respect from the states!

    Those subsonics are an edge which really helps you to get as many pigs as possible. Good haul! There is no question that if you were using normal rounds, the mobs would scatter to the wind and your numbers would be much lower. Do you load your own rounds? When using subsonic, do you have to choose a lighter bullet, or can you use the same ones you use for normal levels of propellant? Different powder? Less of it? Need to use some cotton (or equivalent) to hold the powder in the case? Just curious - great results and thanks for the videos! Much appreciated!

    Hey Sam, Glad u like the videos. With the subs, heavier is better. I usually run 135gr on 150gr supersonic. I run 190gr projectiles subsonic. Yes, I reload my own using TrailBoss powder as it is bulky and no packing is required.

    Hey mate, great content. Quick question, as i cant seem to find any decent information about it online, what do you guys usually do with carcasses? do farmers take some/all of them for human/pet meat? does an abbatoir or someone buy them? curious to know. Also, id be interested in knowing how to go about getting into contract shooting, is it a sustainable single income job? and whats the go with training and licenses. Thanks in advance and keep up the good work mate :)

  • @RJMHuntingAustralia

    @RJMHuntingAustralia

    Жыл бұрын

    Not really something you would be able to do as full time employment unless you could pick up some bug commercial contracts. Abbotoirs can't take dead animals and the whole harvesting for pet food is complex and requires access to a local chiller. I don't have a chiller within practical driving range for me so the farmers just collect the carcasses and dispose of them either by burial, burning or used as fertiliser
