The next year after a growth spurt he quit wrestling because he was getting mauled in the 120 lbs class & lost his 1st 13 matches.

This happens alot, but what's the difference between a 7th grader beating a 9 grader, or a sophomore beating a senior..NOTHING..very low percentage of kids wrestling since they were 5 or 6..most kids dont wrestle until middle or high school and they almost never catch up to kids that have been wresting their whole lives..and even they said his sister was all sectional team 2 years ago..they're a wrestling family..that advantage alone will get him to college

Since he wrestled at such a light weight, he can still challenge himself by going up in weight classes in the future.Hopefully he isn't afraid to wrestle people bigger than him. I grew up wrestling against larger wrestlers, but the lighter wrestlers including the state champions refused to wrestle me because I was so much stronger than them. Had they wrestled me, it would have benefited both of us because they would learn how to wrestle against stronger wrestlers and I would finally get the experience of wrestling against wrestlers almost as fast as me.

NoMoney CarGuy You just said “he will do mma after” as if you know his own personal aspirations. Wrestling is a good tool for mma, but it is only one aspect of mma. Most high level wrestlers actually don’t make the transition into mma, and just stick with wrestling. Plus were talking about a 7th grader.

LETS GOO PJJJ GOATTTT
Not shitting on him but I knew a kid in high school who had a 24-0 record as a freshman in that same weight class, but 22 of those wins were forfeits because the other schools didn't have a 99 lbs wrestler & both times he actually wrestled were vs the same kid. The next year after a growth spurt he quit wrestling because he was getting mauled in the 120 lbs class & lost his 1st 13 matches.
Great Job.....
Im Amazingly amazed.
Damn... this is actually a modern feat of athletics. Not even middle school basketball players can compete with highschoolers, let alone beat them all. Wrestling is also a different animal, as it’s far more physical as a combat sport... all while in the heavily populated and very competitive state of New York. Incredible.

Give the narrator a break. At least they are giving wrestling some air time.
I would assume at his weight most kids are in the 7th, 8th and 9th grade. So the "Varsity" word and is a little overstated. However what he did was pretty outstanding. Especially not allowing a point to be scored from any of his opponents.

What an intelligent guy!
Go get em champ!
