It was written by British composers Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley specifically for the movie. It was originally sung by Gene Wilder who played the character of Willy Wonka. Although, my favorite version is by singer/songwriter/musician, Jamie Cullum, who just happens to be married to the Grand-daughter of the books Author, Roald Dahl.

I've rewatched this audition multiple times. Like everyone else it has me in tears, and I tried to figure out why. I think that Cillian has something veryspecial, JOPE - Joy plus Hope. If you look at Cillian's eyes you see the love he has for his craft and when he makes Simon smile, Cillian has a spark that shows he has reached his goal. Another Irish Teen magician was on AGT Champions. He also has the same aura that makes people smile and dream.

I heard Cillian being interviewed on RTÉ Radio this afternoon from the Faroe Islands. He said his knees were shaking as he performed. A very modest, clear-thinking, thoughtful young man, mature beyond his years. The interview led me here! And I'm glad I took the trouble to look for it. A fantastic performance from a beautiful, talented young man. Touched me to tears. Thank you, Cillian, for being such a determined and talented sign of hope for yourself and others. God bless you!

Look at the way he shakes his hands and the facial expression of containment. That is the happiness of achievement when someone with disabilities feels worthy. I am really happy for this young man.

Gosh! I couldn't hold back my tears for this kid. The applause alone meant a lot already to him. Then getting 4-yeses is an aboslute joy for him Bless this kid.
