The late 70's, 80's, and 90s were a far better time for food/shopping experience and quality imo, despite not having the "tech" we do today. What a great time to have experienced in America.

For shopping, I think you can make that argument, particularly at the meat counter. You knew your butcher in the 70s. For food, in particular restaurant food? No. We're much better today than the 1970s. It's not even close.

When I was very young in the 70's our family would take family trips in the car every summer and we would always stop by a Howard Johnsons and it was AMAZING , great food and service 🤠

I remember going to Ponderosa’s as a young kid in the early 90s. One of my best memories, was my family and I traveling to universal studios in Orlando, Florida back in the summer of ‘95, these were calm and happy times as a kid stuffing my face! 😂

I was probably around 12 years old and I just won my first BMX race @redbud so my grandparents took me to the HoJo in Benton Harbor,MI for dinner and a huge sundae that came in a, what i thought at the time, was the biggest fancy dish ever. So good.

Honestly, I don't miss the restaurants I miss the memories I have with my family members that are no longer here. My late grandmother loved Ponderosa just as much as Cracker Barrel, so I had a lot of meals and memories of here there.

We still have a Ponderosa. But will be gone soon. I remember back, We used to go in, order an $7 buffet, add a steak and baked potato for $3 more. Then I would proceed to eat 25 chicken wings, mashed potatoes, etc. Saving the steak and potato to take home and eat later. For $20, my wife and I had 4 meals. Now the buffet is $20 and to add a steak and potato, another $16. And you can no longer take the steak home with you. At $36 for a steak and potato dinner with buffet, too expensive.

Ponderosa AND Bonanza are owned by the same people and there is a huge error in the video about these. As of april 2023 there are 22 left in combination....not a few hundred as stated. Go to the Pon-Bon and see for yourself. The Brown Derby section shows an unrelated chain of Brown Derbys in the Ohio area where five locations are still open to this day. As for Howard Johnsons...again...error....there are NONE left open as of 2022. Trader Vic's is still a global brand with locations all over the world. Geno's Burgers is not gone either....2 locations still exist. Ground Round up next....yep errors here too Ground Round is not gone...still 15 locations. Shrimp Boat....yep...bet you can guess....they still exist too....7 locations. White tower....why does it constantly show White Castle images? Yep though...no more White Towers :(. If you want subs....get the facts right
