There are some substances that are particularly dangerous for your drain. Follow some simple rules and avoid dumping certain things down your drain to save your money and nerves.
Why is a clogged drain so terrible in the first place? The most obvious reason is that you can do serious and expensive damage to your kitchen or bathroom. Plus, the water in your drains is dirty already, and it obviously gets worse with garbage inside. Finally, not only does it give off a terrible smell, but it can also cause complications with certain health conditions like asthma or allergies.
Next time you’ve had a delicious meal, scrape any leftovers from your plate into the trash where they belong instead of washing them down the drain. Remember that eggshells, coffee grounds, oils and fats, as well as flour, should never go in your drain. Some people think that medicine dissolves easily in water, so they throw expired pills down the drain. In reality, they don’t dissolve in water, they contaminate it. Hair is one of the most common reasons why pipes get clogged in the bathroom. When the hair goes into the tub’s drain, it gets stuck inside and forms a ball that acts likes a net for other waste. Condoms and feminine products are a nightmare for your toilet’s pipes and drain, as well.

-Believe it or not, medicines don’t dissolve in water, they contaminate it.
-When the hair goes into the tub’s drain, it gets stuck inside and forms a ball that acts likes a net for other waste.
-Stickers themselves are made of materials that take a very long time to decompose, plus, they have glue on them.
-Never put building waste, be it even tiny pieces and powder-like debris, down the drain.
-Condoms can stretch really well and get stuck inside pipes or get filled with air, water, or other waste which will lead to a very serious clog.
-Cigarette butts are made of a synthetic material that never dissolves and harmful chemicals, like nicotine, which can contaminate the water supply.
-Remember that feminine products can dramatically increase in size, and it leads to a very serious clog.

Thank you for this video. I have shared it with my tenants who dont seem to grasp the fact that the only thing that goes down the plug hole is water. Its like the think it magically disappears once they’ve squeezed it through the trap
Who in their right minds would put the following in their sink: condoms, feminine products, flour!! Like what the heck. I understand the milk though

Armani Versace I used to work at a supermarket on the occasions I had to bring back a leaking milk to the grocery back room they made me pour it down there drain the sink. First couple of times I didn't do it cuz I just wanted to bring a good milk back to the customer and I got yelled at. Nice to know I was right all along not to dump milk down the sink.

It helps to pour boiling water down your drain from time to time to sanitize and can help with small amounts of buildup.

We dump our grease into an aluminum can in the fridge and throw it away when the can gets full

Another sign of a sink drain needing cleaning is when you see some very tiny moths coming out of there. The environment further down is perfect for them to thrive in.

I just backed up my kitchen sink royally by forgetting that I shouldn't put pasta down the disposal. Took 4 days for my husband to completely fix the problem. Another major way I have killed my disposal and sink pipes: peelings (potatoes, oranges, etc.) This video is so true.
Who even throws these things down the drain, seems so foolish. These are all common sense.

Found a bunch of canning lids in the drain under our toilet after moving into a new house and replacing it because it wouldn't stop leaking. I don't even want to know why someone would do that.

My 2 year old and I were working on a craft project at the same time lunch dishes were being put in the dishwasher and my two year old put the glue dish we were using in the dishwasher and of course I didn't catch it and it went through the entire cycle if there is anything I can use to dissolve the glue from the drain pump any suggestions I sure don't want to replace a new dishwasher I just got this 18 month ago

Actually syrup is basically just sugar, so it dissolves fine in water. Test it out by mixing some syrup into a glass of warm water!
That's why there's no such thing as a "flushable" wipe; even if it says so on the box or packet or whatever container it came in!

Andrew Santora 😂😂 I posted this comment before I saw that it was on this video. But when my sister and I would cook with meat we would dump the grease down the sink without knowing we weren't supposed to do that so we suddenly had a problem but thank god for our brother's friend that fixed it. So since then we haven't dumped grease down there since. We know better. But the rest that is in this video that's good to know.😉

what i turn the water to hottest setting and slowly poured the oil down with it...does that make a difference..in my mind it seems like it does
